James came to my university one day last year as a guest lecturer on our Game Audio module. We were initially told it'd be Richard Jacques... alas! Nonetheless, an interesting guy. I made a profile for him since I didn't see one already. Plenty of things to link up~

No offence or anything, but don't know what you mean about 'thought it was Richard Jacques... alas!' as Hannigan is one of the uk's best composers. I went along to a game industry fair in east london where he did this panel and he's working on about six games over the next year or so,not to mention tv shows like primeval (although i haven't seen this and can't comment much). And I really dig what he did on Command and Conquer:Red Alert 3 .

Don't get me wrong, I like Richard Jacques a lot also. Top composer. To be honest i think only richard jacques and james hannigan are left standing right now in this area from the uk. Deservedly so perhaps but what happened to bob and barn? loved their stuff as well...

Ah, it's because I've enjoyed some of Jacques' soundtracks, particularly earlier stuff like Sonic R and Sonic 3D Blast -- while I'm not very familiar with Hannigan's music (I didn't know who he was on the day he lectured.) Which isn't to say he's bad at all, far from it surely. It's more just that I was just bummed that I didn't get to speak to RJ

I like the Sonic stuff as well.
Hannigan;s less of a traditional game composer and more towards a kind of film composer I guess style wise. His Harry Potter scores are great but aren't so aimed at gamers I guess (which isn't to say he can't do that though... I'm thinking Freelancer,Conquest,C&C etc).
