Not sure what the second game on the first disc is.

No Ninja Warriors and no Gundam Wing makes me sad....
Granted, those were more unlikely, but if they could get away with licensed titles with Sunsoft, I don't see why not here. This only makes the album have a (apparently) much less attracting line-up. Definitely not as convinced on this one.

Chuugoku Janshi Story: Tonfuu, an NES mahjong game. You'll see this referred to in English much more frequently as Tonpuu, but the box and cartridge say トンフー so that's wrong.

Also of note: kind of like what happened with Shatterhand on volume 1, this album lists the overseas conversion S.C.A.T., not the original domestic version Final Mission. Not sure if there are any differences in the soundtrack besides the usual NTSC/PAL stuff.

They "tightened up the music" for the international version (S.C.A.T.). A few tracks run at a slightly faster tempo, which subtly bumps up the pitch as well. It's certainly not a NTSC/PAL issue and must have something to do with all the editing the game underwent. The percussion is affected the most, where almost anything that sounded like a bass drum in Final Mission sounds like a muffled snare in S.C.A.T. The US version also notably cuts out the awesome original intro for two new tracks (check the whole video for other version differences).

There should be separate NSF files for the games, if you'd care to look around and compare things for yourselves.

do these RCDI releases have composer information? i just ordered the Natsume volumes and the manuals seem pretty elaborate (with what looks like interviews even?). just wondering because i don't know any Japanese, but it would seem like a huge oversight for them not to not list the artists involved.

The three Arcade Disc In JALECO albums include composer info for some of the included games, but not all. As far as I know, those are the only Clarice Disc compilation releases with any explicit composer info.

There MAY be some composer interviews/liner notes that provide limited information, like on the first Sunsoft album, but most albums don't have that.

Makiko Ito's (Itou?) name is listed with kanji in the staff roll.

Does anyone know how the names "東本" and "中中" read? The first one is the name of the last opponent, and the second name seems to be the girl you rescue. There is no furigana or anything in the actual game and I'm not having much luck with google.

"東本" = "Higashimoto"

"中中" = "Dzung Dzung" (in Cantonese pinyin). The hero's sister.

At least, this is what the guy is saying in your video...

Haha, I never even bothered to turn the sound up. I've seen too many videos where people just small talk about nonsense instead of play the game. :S
Thanks for the help.

In the Spanky's Quest GB credits, only Hiroyuki Iwatsuki is credited as the "music composer," but NATSUME GAME SOUND HISTORY 1988-2009 credits both Iwatsuki AND Iku Mizutani for originally composing the arranged track there. That album was directly produced by Natsume and Iwatsuki was involved, so the info seems trustworthy, but Iwatsuki doesn't seem to have mentioned that he didn't do the whole soundtrack when he was asked about it in private correspondence with someone a few years ago.

It seems that he mentioned it in the liner notes of Rom Cassette Disc In NATSUME Vol.1:

Quote:

From what I can gather, Mizutani composed one of the songs for Iwatsuki to reference as he worked on his first game soundtrack. While it isn't entirely clear to me if Iwatsuki is referring to a particular song here, "1面" seems to be referring to song 2.16 "TOWER1" specifically.
