Fantastic!!! Nintendo, I love you! Next to the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS & Wii U Premium Sound Selection the definitive highlight of the year from that company.

Hehe. I was hoping things would change a bit, but it seems Nintendo is a lost cause, when it comes to VGM.

Guess I'll keep an eye on auctions.

I know the entire English web says otherwise, but I'm fairly certain Intelligent Systems is not a subsidiary of Nintendo, at least in a formal sense. I haven't been able to find any corporate info in Japanese saying that Nintendo is a shareholder in IS.

Basically, I'm not sure Nintendo was really all that involved in the publishing of the FE:A soundtrack.

Interesting, so what was the "criterion" about Shin Hikari Shinwa Palutena no Kagami (SBPS-0016~8) beyond Mitsuda Sleigh Bells studio?

Good question! I would guess that Mitsuda's involvement was enough; he wanted to release the music, so they licensed the soundtrack from Nintendo (which owns the copyrights) in order to publish it on his own label.

I don't know if it's significant, but there aren't any Nintendo staff listed in the production credits of the Uprising OST, so based on that alone it seems like Nintendo wasn't too involved in the production of that album.

I remember reading some email somebody send to Nintendo that said that they license all merchandise to outside parties. So I'm going to guess that other companies don't see getting the license to and then publishing an OST would be profitable enough to warrant the need for one.

But Nintendo could just do what Sega and Bandai Namco have been doing recently, and just release them digitally via iTunes or something. For as innovative as Nintendo has historically been, they sure are stuck in the past in other ways sadly.

StreetPass Battle theme in this is a rehash of a tune from Zelda II. Composer credit for that game is entirely Akito Nakatsuka.

I own a copy of the game and am actively playing Hero Mode, so I can confirm this.

Speaking of composer credits, shouldn't Kondo be "featured" on this album only? I don't think he created any new material for the game.

Here's some of my thoughts on some of the translated track names:

Lore of the Kingdom: I think it'd sound better as "Legend of the Kingdom".

Annihilation Room: It's definitively Annihilation Room. The second version gets the addendum of "[Strong Enemy Version]"

Hyrule's 3 Dungeons [?]: "The Three Dungeons of Hyrule". The Desert Palace is counted as part of Lorule.

[Danger? Close Call?]: Translates literally to "Last Second Shop", and it's the tune for the minigame where you've got to collect rupees and try to talk to the shopkeep as close to the time limit you can without going over it.

[Excitement? Confusion?]: It's "Magic Shop", or the "Witch's Shop".

Fortune Telling [?]: "Fortune Teller's Shop"

The Picture Becomes a Link [or Link Becomes a Picture?]: It's "Link Becomes a Picture".

Tough Zora: It'd be better to render it as "The Zora in Trouble".

Lost Woods, Deep: Would sound better rendering it as "Lost Woods, Depths"

The Land of the Barrier [?]: Or "Land Covered by a Barrier"

Princess Zelda as a Picture: Literally "Princess Zelda Transformed into a Picture"

Princess Hilda's Emergence: "Princess Hilda Appears"

Passing Battle [?]: Literally, but I think it refers to the StreetPass Battles in our version. So, "StreetPass Battle" is is.

Pendant of Zelda Get [?]: "Zelda's Amulet Get Fanfare"

Between the Sorcerer [???]: "Chamber of the Sages"

Hilda to Be Absorbed into Ganon: "Hilda Being Absorbed into Ganon"

Ravio's Coming, Hilda's Sorrow: "Ravio Appears, Hilda's Sorrow"

2 People Reformed [+ Hailar Hilda?]: "Hilda's Change of Heart - The Two Returning to Hyrule"

Lorule to Become Bright: "Brightening Lorule"

アイテムゲットファンファーレ(最終戦専用): Item Get Fanfare (Exclusive for the Final Battle)

Awesome, thanks for the input Aquagon!

Anyway, I'm going to create an English tracklist now, if that's alright. (If I get anything wrong, feel free to edit.)

EDIT:
Dammit. I got too over-eager in clicking the submit button that it submitted it *twice*, two English versions saying the exact same thing. And it won't let me remove one. Can an admin delete the duplicate tracklist? Thanks.

Someone knows where did Nintendo say that won't be releasing your soundtracks commercially? Well, I heard about it from many people, and it seems to be true, but I never found the source =/

Thanks for everyone in advance.

Default Got mine early!

I managed to get mine early through a seller on Ebay. This has got to be the best Zelda soundtrack I have ever heard. In particular, the dark world and Ganon battle themes are incredible. The whole thing sounds like Willow meets Zelda, ABSOLUTELY EPIC! Well worth the money!

Each of the dark world dungeons has their own themes now? That's pretty cool.

Oh? Nobody cared for the European reprint-version of the CD?
Just checked the NoE page for a picture. Sold out already.

Here're the pics if someone would be kind enough to do the reprint-page on vgmdb:

This needs a composer breakdown. I know there's some tracks that are totally original, even if there are indeed tracks that was like a remastered version of the original (Kakariko Village) half original/half remake (The Three Dungeons of Hyrule) or even inspired with melodies, even if they're small (A Kingdom's Legend). I think it's valid to point out all these singularities for a more detailed description. "Available through Club Nintendo in Japan." for such a great album? It's really not fair. I'm ready to make this, but I'm not a master in Zelda songs, so I could lose a detail here and there. Someone could help me?

And also, Ryo declared in the booklet and in interviews that he played real instruments in some songs, or even sang. Shouldn't he be in "Performed by" field too? Closer scans of the european version and a translation of Ryo's message in the booklet bottom of the japanese release would really help.

Nagamatsu did every song for the game. If you want to know the source material for the arrangements, that's different.

As for him being listed as a performer, I'll add him as one.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. We have Kondo as a "featured" composer here, but there's not detailed information about which song was taken from his original compositions. For example, "Title Screen", "Selection Screen", "Cavern Theme (Going Underground)", "Kakariko Village", and many others. While "Ravio's Theme", "Mother Maiamai's Theme", "Yuga's Theme", "Octoball Derby" are totally original themes made by Ryo. I think we should detail this in the notes field, for a more accurate composer list. I can do that, but I'll need help, as I can miss something, but I'll give it a try, and you correct me, ok?

No problem. Most of them should be easy to name if you know the original game's soundtrack.

Well, here's my try. I want to point out some things you guys might not understand:
