Landmark release... is it me or this is one of the very first instances in which the music of western developed home computer ports gets included into such a compilation?

The Master System port of MERCS was by British developer Tiertex. Looking at the audio personnel and their gameographies w/r/t GG/SMS experience, I think we can narrow it down to John Prince or John Hancock. I'm leaning towards the latter only because of how many other SMS games he had done in 1991.

Copy pasted the tracklist from cdj but it's kinda false. Will add the scans later and correct the tracklist. Just like the final fight collection there is little to none composer info in the booklet. .__.

I find it amusing how they never mention the Famicom version's actual title of "Hitler no Fukkatsu". They don't even have the actual logo for it, or the packaging illustration for that matter. Was it some censorship issues?

Top Secret is the Japanese title of the Arcade Bionic Commando.

from "Submit a new album" help:

"It's best to use the English game name, but you can also include the Japanese and PAL names by including them in parenthesis (e.g. Drakengard (Drag-on Dragoon).)"

it's the (dumb) policy of vgmdb to prefer localization titles

Is this information reliable? According to Mobygames Bionic Commando was composed by both Tim Follin and Mike Follin, just as Raizen1984 posted.
I found this interview with Andrew Holdroyd, and it does say that he worked on Mercs, but I can't see that it specifically states that he did the music. It looks more like he was a programmer who was involved in graphics and the like. His Linkedin doesn't seem to mention anything about music either.

I came across that interview as well when coming to my conclusion that it was probably John Hancock or John Prince of Tiertex who handled the music.

So I'm not sure if it's just my disc but the track order for Disc 5 (Rearmed OST) is completely out of whack. Going to be taking a deeper look tomorrow, but I'm wondering if this applies to all releases of the CD or just mine?

Also since most of Rearmed's OST are new arrangements of Tamiya-san's score, I'll add breakdowns of her original compositions for Disc 5 later.

EDIT: I can confirm through another copy that Disc 5's actual track order is not in the order shown in the official tracklist.

INCORRECT TRACKLIST (as printed in the booklet):
1 Bionic Command Main Theme Resurrected Version バイオニックコマンドー メインテーマ復活版
2 Heat Wave 熱波
3 Power Plant 発電所
4 Dive Into Tomorrow 明日へのダイブ
5 Rise of the Albatross アルバトロスの夜明け
6 Master D Resurrection Project Menu Theme マスターD復活計画 メニューテーマ
7 Intro & Ending イントロ&エンディング
8 OK, We'll Move よし,行こう
9 Encounter 遭遇戦
10 Killt's Hidden Treasures キルット総統の秘宝
11 Break Time 休憩タイム
12 Intruder Alert 侵入者警報
13 Suzuki's Heroes Suzuki's Heroes
14 Threat After Threat さらなる脅威
15 Super Joe's Rescue スーパージョー救出
16 Sneak Into the Albatross アルバトロス潜入
17 Stage Clear ステージクリア
18 Into a Decisive Battle 決戦へ
19 Flight of Angels and Demons 天使と悪魔の飛翔
20 Escape from the Albatross アルバトロスからの脱出
21 Escape Succeeded 脱出成功
22 Opening オープニング
23 Challenge Room チャレンジルーム
24 Miss ミス
25 Game Over ゲームオーバー

I got a suggestions e-mail from CD Japan and this album was presented in it, I completely forgot about Bionic Command's music and I may bite and get this from what I listened to on YouTube.

However, I'm a little confused. For some reason I thought this album would come up by typing "Bionic Commando" in the search field because this title is in the "represented products" field on the page. I don't know why I thought that's how the search function worked.

Was labeling my mp3s when ripping this, and I can't help but think I came across an issue:

What in the entry and in the booklet:
2-39 MISSION 2(ORIGINAL Ver.) 0:10
2-40 SHOP(ORIGINAL Ver.) 1:50
2-41 MISSION COMPLETED(ORIGINAL Ver.) 0:43

What I'm seeing via Gracenote or whatever database itunes uses:
2-39 Mission Completed 0:10
2-40 Mission 2 1:50
2-41 Shop 0:43

I don't personally know the context of these pieces (yet) but I kind of find it hard that the Mission 2 music would be ten seconds long and what the tracks offer musically seems to support the latter.

Submitted the correction Brad noted along with a couple small translation errors on disc 1. Instead of "Below Rank 2" on track 10, it's "Rank 2 and Below", also on tracks 14 and 19 it was mistranslated as "Cluster" instead of "Room". It could also potentially be translated as "Prison Cell" as well, and while many of those areas have prisoners, not all do (and are rather large to be considered a cell IMO).

Also, didn't official submit it, but felt the image of the cover (slight difference from booklet cover) seemed a bit faded to me, so I took the liberty of retouching it a bit. Here it is if anyone wants it.

The booklet confirms that Yoshiaki Kashima both arranged the arcade music by Manami Matsumae and wrote the new music for the MD version of Senjou 2. I don't know why he wasn't added to the credits before.

ben忍 on YouTube claims that this album's music was recorded via MAME emulation. I'm not sure how trustworthy this is given that his own soundtrack recording of Bionic Commando's arcade version, supposedly captured from a genuine arcade board, has a lower pitch and slower tempo compared to a YouTube upload of Capcom Game Music VOL.2, an album he also claims to be a genuine arcade recording. Strangely, MAME emulations of Bionic Commando have the same pitch as that Capcom Game Music VOL.2 YouTube upload, with only the music's tempo being higher in emulation (in other words, pitch: Capcom Game Music VOL.2 = MAME > ben忍; tempo: MAME > Capcom Game Music VOL.2 > ben忍).

All I know is that I just checked videos of supposedly genuine Ghosts 'n Goblins and Forgotten Worlds arcade cabinets and they match the pitch of the Capcom Game Music and Daimakaimura -G.S.M. CAPCOM 1- YouTube uploads. So I have no reason to assume that Capcom Game Music VOL.2 uses the wrong pitch for Bionic Commando.

ben忍's recording coupled with his comments is odd and we have no way of verifying for sure how the music really sounded until someone tracks down an original Bionic Commando arcade cabinet (no MAME emulated repro) and records a video of some gameplay.

For reference: version 1 ("halls") and version 2 ("cells"). The North American NES manual calls these "underground shelters" and "underground hiding places". Although the 房 is probably short for 監房, I think a neutral translation is better but "room" may not be entirely accurate. "Underground shelter" or "bunker" are the ones I'd go with.
