We already have one of the best vgm news of this year !
And it seems Shimomura either arranged it herself or supervised the arrangements : https://twitter.com/midiplex/status/...093509120?s=19

From what I've heard from the trailer, the music sounds great! If they do the same job as they did with Kingdom Hearts HD Remix then this soundtrack will be pretty beautiful!

Great, they're bringing more Mana games to the recent consoles, thanks to the success of Secret of Mana / Trials of Mana releases!

She's saying she "only" supervised the arrangement.

For those wondering, Square Enix mentioned they are planning to release this as a standalone soundtrack at a later date!

It could very well be like in Smash Bros. where "arrangement supervisors" are actually the arrangers themselves ! Guess we'll know in June

That's too bad. I'm not the greatest Shimomura fan, but I thought the music in the trailer sounded fantastic.

Go on, Square. Remake your whole darn catalog with remade OSTs. I dare you.

I've added the digital release of the soundtrack to the database, but after seeing the catalog number lists 2 discs while there's only one according to Square Enix's website, I'm starting to think it's actually nothing more than a digital version of the collector's edition's 2-disc release.

Should we change the digital entry to a child album? The thing is, we don't know yet if SQEX-10880~1 is actually the catalog number of the physical edition.

SQEX-10880~1 is the catalog number of the CD: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E4nN3MqV...=jpg&name=orig

We don't add digital versions that are identical to the CD release, so I've disabled the digital entry.

Good catch!

I thought that by "standalone soundtrack" they meant a real physical release. Well, at least there's a digital release.

So there's only going to be a pack-in release? Very odd for SQEX....

Also, Yoko Shimomura mentioned on Twitter that the new arrangements were made by Ryo Furukawa.

Nocturne is missing from this release

Should Osamu Katsumori still be credited as arranger as Song of Mana seems unchanged.

Any idea if this will have a standalone physical release? Right now I only see it as part of the limited edition of the game that was available on S-E JP e-store.

EDIT: Nevermind. The store page mentions that it will be sold at a later TBD date.

It says "* It is planned to be sold separately in the future (sales form undecided). ". This was posted before it was released digitally, so I think that's what it's referring to.

The current display title is "Seiken Densetsu: Legend of Mana Remastered The Soundtrack", but shouldn't it be "Seiken Densetsu Legend of Mana Remastered: The Soundtrack"?

The Japanese title is printed on the packaging like this: 聖剣伝説 レジェンド オブ マナ Remastered: The Soundtrack

By the way, the only music that's not included in Remastered soundtrack from the OST album is: Nocturne - 夜想曲 (Disc 2 - Track 8). I wonder why they left it out?

Not to be "that guy," but am I the only one that isn't that impressed with this rendition of the score? I understand nostalgia is throwing its two cents into my equation (I actually don't have a thing for the game anymore beyond it's music - it didn't age like like I thought it would) and yes, when people say the original score's synth sounds too thin I totally get that, but if the game gives you the option to pick which score to listen to, I'd stick with the original score.

There are many good parts and the solo instruments sound great, but I feel the virtual instruments that make up most of the orchestration are way too muffled and lack depth. A bit lighter approach to the accompaniment would have been greatly appreciated.

I've never heard the original version of this soundtrack (or if I have heard anything from it, it's just been a random track here and there over the years that someone has posted somewhere, but I don't remember), so as someone with absolutely zero nostalgia lenses to filter it through, this remastered soundtrack sounds incredible to me. Both the compositions themselves and Furukawa's handling of them (again, just basing his arrangements on their own merits, not comparing them to the originals). I'm listening to it as I type this and I'm about halfway though. My favorites so far have been Disc 1 Track 8 (Travelers' Road) and Disc 1 Track 11 (Picturesque Landscape).

I am a great fan of the original soundtrack and i think this new arrangement is quite good. "Sanctuary of Mana" and "Desolate Times" are much better than in the original version. But i prefer the original "Everlasting Calm" and "The Flames" over the new arragement, to cite a few examples.

Sorry to revive this, but has there been any news on the remastered soundtrack being released to retail? I was checking sites like CDJapan and Otaku, but nothing was listed.

How odd. The recording credits would imply there's only a small ensemble of musicians on this, but there's clearly a full, large, orchestra on a number of tracks...

All four of the tracks credited to Shimomura alone seem to be exactly the same.
