Changed PC-98 to 88. Back scan isn't great, but looks to say 88. Chudah's also says 88, but if someone wouldn't mind confirming, that'd be great!

I'm not so sure Sugiyama should be called an arranger here. It says all music programmed by Yasuhiro Taguchi, so I take that to mean even the Fairlight versions. I think he should be in the arranger field and Sugiyama removed, but I'll leave it up to someone with more authority than me to decide.

This OST contains arranged music by Sugiyama (or it should), so he should stay credited as an arranger.
As for Taguchi, it depends. if Sugiyama simply handed him already optimized MIDI (monophonic, fit the limited number of channels etc) and all he did was convert it to something the sound driver would play back, then he didn't really arrange anything. This is how most game composers who relied on a programmer did their music. however, I think I've read that Sugiyama composed all his game music like it was meant for a full blown orchestra, including the three channel NES stuff, so if that's correct then Taguchi most likely arranged it to fit the soundchip. |
