It seems fair to assume that this will simply be a collection of the existing soundtracks without any real changes.

I was really hoping that when they finally got around to releasing a box set of Silent Hill music, it would include at least a fair amount of the "in game" ambient music from each game (Like the first soundtrack did).

There is still so much great music from the series that has been excluded from all official soundtrack releases to date, which is a real shame

Oh well... At least this will be great for those who have been unwilling to pay rediculous amounts for some of these soundtracks!

It does look impressive

silent hill 1...1
silent hill 2...1
silent hill 3...1
silent hill 4...1
silent hill 0...1
silent hill homecoming...1
silent hill shattered memories...1
silent hill extra music...1
silent hill arcade...1

silent hill 3 mini...1
silent hill 4 the room inescapable rainy yoshiwara...1
silent hill 4 the room limited...1
silent hill 4 robbie tracks...1

Assuming each one is the version with every song on it. We are still at 13 discs.

I do agree I wish silent hill got a full release. But in reality the box sets put out and will be put out, castlevania and suikoden as examples were/are missing tracks and whole discs.

I really never got into Silent Hill, but this certainly looks like a good deal.

Sorry I rolled back the Distribution Type to "General", because we're not sure if there is any alternative printing coming. We once had a tiny discussion on this (which might have been overlooked by the mass) and I think it'd be better to wait for a later printing confirmed.

I assume Konami would have planned to release a DVD-less Castlevania box set (as implied in the tag of some online stores) as a later printing, but it didn't eventually happen due to the poor sales.

The picture on Konami's page has changed. Looks like the one they had before was tentative.

Also, I find it absolutely hilarious that this is ranked 178th in Amazon.co.jp's Easy Listening category.

I sincerely hope they're not going to reuse lossy-sourced material for Homecoming... Hell, that might be the only thing that makes me buy this release.

New pictures up on Amazon.co.jp. Looks like the cover of each case is finalized now. And, on top of that, it's now reached 38th in the Easy Listening charts. Take that, Enya!

Full ack!

Especially since Yamaoka's work on the Silent Hill series is probably finished for now...

From a comparison of the soundtracks against the list, these are the changes I see.

Disc 1 Silent Hill 1 - Track 41 Esperándote is Missing
Disc 2 Silent Hill 2 - Track 1 Mispelling of Theme of Laura
Disc 2 Silent Hill 2 - Track 26 Blank Fairy Renamed from Black Fairy
Disc 2 Silent Hill 2 - Track 27 Mispelling of Theme of Laura (reprise)
Disc 5 Silent Hill 0 - Track 23 is Murder Song "S"
Disc 6 Silent Hill Homecoming Changed Track Order
01 = 01, 02 = 02, 03 = 11, 04 = 14, 05 = 04, 06 = 05, 07 = 09, 08 = 07, 09 = 13, 10 = 06, 11 = 08, 12 = 16, 13 = 03, 14 = 15, 15 = 12, 16 = 18, 17 = 17, 18 = 10, 19 = 19, 20 = 20, 21 = 21 (Might be a new version)

No Silent Hill 3 - Special Mini Sound Track
No Silent Hill 4 The Room - Inescapable Rainy Yoshiwara
No Silent Hill 4 The Room - Limited Edition
No Silent Hill 4 The Room - Robbie Tracks

I would have liked to hear 3's alien ending song on a CD, to be honest.

Although "Murder Song 'S'" was not listed on the official website, it is on the tracklist that comes with the CD in this set, so I've added it back to the tracklist.

Notes:
6-21 Alex Theme (Machine Head Mix) = new remix
8-09 Dance Girl Dance from SILENT HILL3 = 02 Heads No.1 (Unreleased) from SH3 Mini OST
8-10 Queen of the Rodeo = not written in the tracklist, but this is actually from SH3 (one of the cooler unreleased tracks)
8-11 All Screwed up from SILENT HILL3 = 05 Life (Unreleased) from SH3 Mini OST

Some notable missing tracks (from memory):
Spoiler:
SH1: Esperándote
SH2: Theme of Laura E3 trailer
SH2: One short song (usually called 'letters') which played in the beginning.
SH2: Dog ending
SH2: UFO ending
SH3: UFO ending (Silent Hill no Uta)
SH3: All 3 tracks from SH3 Robbie Tracks (remixes)
SH4: All exclusive tracks from LE OST (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19) [did these play in the game?]
SH4: BGM from the sound drama mini CD.
SHH: Alex Theme (normal)
All: many ambient noise and cutscene tracks.
All: a few minor 'normal' tracks I believe. I think SHH had more than the others.

Btw, as retarded as it sounds, "Theme Of Loura" is what Konami officially uses nowadays in their releases (digital), so it isn't really misspelt in the tracklist. Maybe there is some history behind that.

EDIT: maybe it's just me but isn't 8-29 some kind of Gradius remix?

Doesn't make much sense, for 2 reasons. 1. Laura plays the piano, they never changed that spelling, and 2. The character is named after Laura from No Language but a Cry, so it is odd to have Loura's theme for a character named Laura. Maybe a head's up to the company to see if they noticed the changes? Or why the spellings/names were changed between releases for the 5 tracks (Theme of Loura, Theme of Loura (Reprise), Blank Fairy, Dance Girl Dance, All Screwed up).

Konami had Theme of Loura on the European print of SH 2 soundtrack, but only on the reprise version.

Why Esperandoté has been omitted from tracklist?

I would like to know the reason too. "Esperandoté" was already omitted on iTunes release.

My guess would be licensing/copyrights issues.

It doesn't fit stylistically with the rest of the soundtrack, so possibly for reasons of better continuity?

Supposedly the Homecoming CD released to the U.S.A was lossy pressed (the music on the CD was already transcoded to something like an mp3 format before being burned onto the disc). With this new release, is the music also from a lossy pressing or lossless?

For what I can tell from the spectrums, it's still lossy-mastered... Money wasted

Same here. The series did sort of intrigue me with the first game but I just never bothered to get into the games. Heard good things about the music, though.

Look harder.

All tracks are lossless: http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/6339/spec1s.jpg

The UFO ending of Silent Hill: The Arcade is a Gradius homage (just like Castlevania: The Arcade has a secret ending that references Tokimeki Memorial). As you can see, it starts off with the original (arcade?) version of "Challenger 1985", then plays the rearrangement labeled "Recorder 2007". Whether that warrants editing the credits any, I dunno. I'm glad they didn't exclude it, shrill as it is.

Well, ain't that pretty cool. That's one fine UFO ending alright.

Seeing the arcade credits:

I guess tracks 8-27~8-29 are by those two sound guys.
(Yamaoka is after the special thanks...)

Rejoice all, I found Yamaoka's secret(?) stash: http://www.konamistyle.jp/sp/akirayamaoka/more/who.html

Mostly trial MP3s of known songs, but there is an early/alternate "Theme of Laura"! Not the E3 version, but still a nice oddity.
Other nifty tracks are ~1993 demo songs and sparkster midis.

To DL them open the m3u file from the site, which has links like this (won't work anymore):
http://www.konamistyle.jp/customfact...ill2_first.mp3

and replace "customfactory" with "sp":

Excellent find Dag, thanks!

For anybody doing this, you should get a total of 36 tracks. I've heard most of these before but damn, the Theme Of Laura FIRST and System Romance tracks are new to me and just made my day.
