Video game product scans
Since I am not an editor or admin, I cannot edit video game pages to add scans or other images like credit roll screenshots. I figured the best way to get around this limitation is to:
1) upload scans and screenshots to my Neocities page 2) update this topic whenever I upload to my site 3) someone with proper authority copies any appropriate scans to here 4) that someone posts what they've added here 5) I will delete the images from my Neocities page (I only have 1GB of storage space, so would not be able to keep all of the images hosted there, as they are 500kB+ each) The only thing I request is that I am credited as the source of the image -- they will all be scans of my copies or screenshots I've personally taken. The page, which will not have a link to it anywhere on my Neocities site, is: https://blaqthourne.neocities.org/vgmdb/vgmdb.html

Since this is my initial upload, I've included a few extra scans to get feedback as to whether I should include the same ones in the future. This specifically is for games that use a clamshell style case with the cover wrapping around, e.g. Genesis, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS. Do you want the full connected cover, or just the individual segments?
To start, the games I have uploaded are: 7 Wonders II (DS) Aladdin (Genesis) Android Assault (SegaCD) Assassin's Creed III (PS3) -- note that this is what was bundled with the SuperSlim PS3 console, so the barcode should not match the standalone release (I doubt the UPC of the standalone release is 000000000000) I have to crop what I already have scanned, so it's taking longer than I thought. I just wanted to get this topic up.

@Blaqthourne I've added
Assassin's Creed III - Sony PlayStation 3 - U.S. Initially I added this under Europe because of seeing the multiple languages, but later I saw it used the ESRB rating, not a PEGI rating. Banjo-Kazooie - Nintendo 64 - U.S. Brave Fencer Musashi - Sony PlayStation - U.S. Breath of Fire III - Sony PlayStation - U.S. Breath of Fire IV - Sony PlayStation - U.S. Cadash - NEC PC-Engine - U.S. Chrono Cross - Sony PlayStation - U.S. I've added the Greatest Hits front to the original U.S. release even though it doesn't match that release date. Adding a separate release is probably outside of our scope at the moment, but if that changes it can be moved over. Crash Bandicoot - Sony PlayStation - U.S. Same goes here. Crystalis - Nintendo Game Boy Color - U.S. Dark Cloud - Sony PlayStation 2 - U.S. Disgaea: Hour of Darkness - Sony PlayStation 2 - U.S. I noticed the spine reads Disgaea~Hour of Darkness, but it probably is Disgaea: Hour of Darkness officially based on the back. Donkey Kong Country - Nintendo Game Boy Advance - U.S. DOOM - Sega 32X - U.S. Double Dragon - Sega Master System (Mark III) - U.S. Dragon Warrior I & II - Nintendo Game Boy Color - U.S. Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen - Nintendo DS - U.S. This is the only case where I added a new release. Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride - Nintendo DS - U.S. Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation - Nintendo DS - U.S. Dragon Warrior VII - Sony PlayStation - U.S. Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King - Sony PlayStation 2 - U.S. Quite a lot of products missing for the earlier games in your collection, but I have this is a decent amount shaved off, thanks very much. I hope I spelled your name correctly every time! A couple times it was almost Blacqthourne from slip of the fingers. Last edited by Nicolaas Hamman; Aug 7, 2023 at 12:39 AM. |

I wouldn't expect the compilations of Atari 2600 games to have product entries, since not many 2600 games (or the arcade games from the same time period included) had much, if any, music.
I skimmed through the Disgaea manual and all instances are "Disgaea: Hour of Darkness". So, the spine might be the only place where they ever used the "~" in the title. I wonder if they purposely chose 20666 for its catalog number. These have my username misspelled (either with "cq" or "c" instead of "q": Banjo-Kazooie - Nintendo 64 - U.S. Brave Fencer Musashi - Sony PlayStation - U.S. Breath of Fire III - Sony PlayStation - U.S. Breath of Fire IV - Sony PlayStation - U.S. Cadash - NEC PC-Engine - U.S. Dragon Warrior VII - Sony PlayStation - U.S. Of what you didn't add, the only games I see albums for with no product pages are: Aurora Quest: Otaku no Seiza in Another World The Bard's Tale Brain Dead 13 -- although this is listed as the PC OST, so I'm not sure it would apply to the Saturn release Cosmic Fantasy 1 & 2 -- the three CFs I have listed As for the GBA release of Castlevania, I've never played the NES release, but I understand it's pretty much the same game. Someone with better knowledge would be able to say if the NES product entry would apply to the GBA release.

Thanks on the name correction. I know it's an odd spelling. Just about everyone gets it wrong.
With the exception of the King's Quest Collection, the only non-US releases I have (that I'm aware of) are PCEngine CD games. Rather than labeling them as US or Jpn releases, if I list it as TGCD, it'll be US, and PCECD will be Jpn. Updated through the K's: While it doesn't currently have a page or any album associated with it (although Baseball Stars Professional does), I've added the Baseball Stars (NES) back Ecco the Dolphin (SCD) The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (Xbox) ESPN National Hockey Night (SCD) Exile (TGCD) Exile II: Janen no Jishou (PCECD) Exile: Wicked Phenomenon (TGCD) -- the US release of Exile II: Janen no Jishou Dungeons & Dragons: Eye of the Beholder (GBA) -- due to the major gameplay differences, this is considered a different game than all the other EotB releases Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Eye of the Beholder (SNES) Formula 1: Built to Win (NES) Final Fantasy Origins (PS1) -- Final Fantasy I & II Final Fantasy III (DS) Final Fantasy IV (DS) Final Fantasy Anthology (PS1) -- Final Fantasy V & VI, Greatest Hits release Final Fantasy VII (PS1) -- Greatest Hits release Final Fantasy VIII (PS1) -- Greatest Hits release F-Zero GX (GCN) F-Zero: Maximum Velocity (GBA) Gauntlet IV (Gen) Ghosts 'N Goblins (NES) Golden Sun (GBA) Grandia (PS1) Great Baseball (SMS) Hydlide (NES) Ico (PS2) Ikaruga (GCN) Intellivision Lives! (PS2) Jet Force Gemini (N64) Kingdom Hearts (PS2) King's Quest Collection (PC) -- King's Quest 1-7, Netherlands release (according to MobyGames and I believe wateenspel.nl (which appears to no longer be around) being the Netherlands) |

Since I don't know if compilations will be represented here, I'll be including them.
I've also been cleaning up the scans to remove creases and other defects on solid-color portions of the packaging. Updated through the M's: Last Armageddon (PCECD) -- the back would probably be NSFW The Legendary Axe (TG16) Legend of Legaia (PS1) The Legend of Zelda (NES) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS) LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game (Xbox) -- Platinum Family Hits release Lunar: The Silver Star (SCD) Lunar: Silver Star Harmony (PSP) -- Premium Edition release Lunar: Eternal Blue (SCD) Mad Dog McCree (SCD) MediEvil (PS1) Mega Man Anniversary Collection (PS2) -- Mega Man 1-8, Mega Man: The Power Battles, and Mega Man: The Power Fighters Metal Gear Solid (PS1) front Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (GCN) Might and Magic: Gates to Another World (Gen) -- is Might and Magic II Might and Magic III: Isles of Terra (PC) Might and Magic III: Isles of Terra (SNES) Might and Magic: Clouds of Xeen (PC) -- it didn't get numbered (IV) until later Might and Magic: Darkside of Xeen (PC) -- it didn't get numbered (V) until later Might and Magic Trilogy (PC) -- Might and Magic 3-5 and Swords of Xeen Might and Magic VI (PC) -- standard release Might and Magic VI (PC) -- Limited Edition release includes Might and Magic 1-6 Might and Magic: Millennium Edition (PC) -- Might and Magic 4-7 Might and Magic: Platinum Edition (PC) -- Might and Magic 6-9 |

I've added a couple more of your earlier scans and few from E to F.
Aurora Quest: Otaku no Seiza in Another World Android Assault: The Revenge of Bari-Arm BASEBALL STARS Bouncers Ecco the Dolphin The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Final Fantasy III Could you begin removing the ones that have been added from your lists? Will make it much easier to see what still needs adding (and free up storage as you mentioned). I could add more of the scans for existing products today I'm sure, but it has almost almost 12 hours of mostly VGMdb work today, motivation is running too low at the moment. |

The ones added here should be removed from my site. When this topic gets to a new page (looks like after 30 posts), I'll post the full list of what's still on my site, as well as a link to it.
BTW, you misspelled my name on Final Fantasy III and Aurora Quest (I wasn't expecting the credits to be NSFW). Do you want the box sides? I've only been scanning them if they have the catalog number or barcode. Nintendo cardboard boxes look like they only have the game title, system, and warranty disclaimer on them. Updated through the R's: Namco Museum: Battle Collection (PSP) -- Greatest Hits release Ninja Gaiden (NES) Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos (NES) Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee (PS1) -- Greatest Hits release The Orange Box (PS3) -- Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, Half-Life 2: Episode 2, Portal, Team Fortress 2 Panzer Dragoon (Sat) Panzer Dragoon II: Zwei (Sat) Panzer Dragoon Saga (Sat) Paper Mario (N64) Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (GCN) Parasite Eve (PS1) Parasol Stars: The Story of Bubble Bobble III (TG16) Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES (PS2) Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable (PSP) -- water damaged Picnic Paranoia (TI-99/4A) Pikmin (GCN) Popful Mail (SCD) Professor Layton and the Last Specter (DS) Professor Layton and the Unwound Future (DS) Psychonauts (PS2) R4 Ridge Racer Type 4 (PS1) Ratchet & Clank (PS2) -- Greatest Hits release Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando (PS2) -- is Ratchet & Clank 2; the foil-like cover is why much of the back is nearly unreadable Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal (PS2) -- is Ratchet & Clank 3 |

Box sides could still be worthwhile to have if they have the titles on them, but I assume in a lot of cases they just repurpose the logo that's on the front cover. I'm not the sort of person who can make a definitive statement on whether or not to include them. |

Since the actual video game releases aren't the focus of this site, and with other sites like MobyGames dedicated to that, unless the sides (and top & bottom) have extra info that this site references (catalog number and barcode), I would think they wouldn't be included.
Once I finish uploading what I already have scanned, the number of games I add will drop off to maybe a handful per week. Soooooo..... I thought my new scanner's software's dust removal feature was really nifty... until I noticed that it was sometimes interpreting periods and hyphens as dust on some book pages I scanned, causing it to remove them. I thought I would simply have two saved settings: one for scanning pages of books, and one for everything else. That was until it interpreted Luna's mouth on the back of Lunar: The Silver Star as dust and removed it. So, now I never use the Dust Removal feature. I went through everything you'd added that I'd scanned with my new scanner, and the only one that has an issue is the back of Baseball Stars (NES) -- the ellipses in the U.S. National Video Game Team quote were removed. I had to do a couple others that I'd uploaded but haven't been copied over here, so everything I have uploaded to my site should be good.
Added: Baseball Stars (NES) back, top, left side, right side -- I've also rotated the sides so the text is horizontal to give you the option of which orientation to use if you're going to add box sides Hydlide (NES) top, left side, right side |

Thank you, I added/replaced those BASEBALL STARS scans. Decided to not go with the rotated ones since I've always seen scans have the same aligment, no rotations (minus I think stuff from inside albums like download cards)
I also added 7 Wonders II - Nintendo DS (doing them as franchises takes too long and seems so daunting each time, so at least at the moment I'm feeling like tackling the individual games) Last edited by Nicolaas Hamman; Aug 18, 2023 at 12:24 PM. |

Sure thing. I went back through the CDs I'd scanned with my new scanner and submitted here. Thankfully, it was only about a half dozen albums. I only have one left to rescan and resubmit so they're accurate.
Final Fantasy IV was really bugging me. I had to do some serious editing to look about like what it should look like. I got it about as good as I can get it. I can't get the lettering to be the correct shade of white without it looking obviously edited. |

I'm guessing you saw I was adding BrainDead 13
As they'd deviate from the alphabetical list, I also added the scans for Magic Knight Rayearth Dragon Force F1 Challenge Galactic Attack (also added the other names and all the organization/artist links) I really should get back to compiling info on the Daisenryaku franchise's releases. I am familiar with the ones on SEGA hardware, though. That is absolutely the OST, I've seen composer Katsuyoshi Nitta link it on Amazon via his blog. Also thank you for the Birthday wishes! Sorry I didn't see that, I was reading off an email so the edit didn't reach my eyes. A nice way to cap things off. I could probably add the adjacent Panzer Dragoon scans quickly.
