Default Album price: Unknown vs. Free

There really needs to be some designation of price as Free vs. Unknown.
Price could be blank by default rather than 0, with a blank value being Unknown and 0 being Free.

Or better yet, simply making "Unknown" and "Free"/"Free of Charge"/"Freely Distributed" (something to that effect) the first pulldown options in the currency list, with the selection of either disabling the ability to enter a dollar figure in the number box.

This is definitely a good idea, so look for it to be included at some point in the near future.

Just nudging this up, since this was a good idea. Looking forward to when it's in use!

Most of the enclosures/promos also have a "Not for sale" on them, perhaps that would be another price category to add.

I just need to figure out a way to do it that doesn't require too extensive a modification.

New behavior for the Price field:

On the album submit/edit pages, you'll notice a new checkbox by the price field called "The Price is Unknown." Please use this to mark albums where you don't know the price.

If the "Price Unknown" field is unchecked, and the price is entered as 0, then the price displays as "free."

For promo/enclosures, a price field of "0" is now displayed as "Not for Sale." If a nonzero price is entered, then it is displayed as "$x.xx (Package Price)", since the only way a promo has a price is when you are giving the price for the whole game.

So now, the truly 'free' albums need to be modified so that they display as free. I took care of this one, but there's more to go:

I like this solution. Simple but useful. Exactly what I needed for this one:

I'll check the other OCR releases, but there's probably pretty much more I haven't even heard about.

I saw a promo/enclosure listed at 0 JPY, resulting in a "not for sale" display.
Should the price tag supposed to be set to 0, or to the price of the whole package. What if the promo stuff is shipped separately (e.g. mail delivery after sending a coupon or an operation of that sort)

Yeah, that's how it is supposed to work -- most of them will be set to zero. If someone wants to put the full price for the package (i.e. the game that included the promo CD), that's fine too. If the promo is shipped separately, then it is priced at zero, which come up as Not for Sale.

Yeah, a "not for sale" indication for mail-in promos/privileges sounds right to me.
