Correct Info about "BAROQUE Original Soundtrack". That's 1CD. It's not 2CDs.

Looking forward to this because the last time I bought a Baroque soundtrack thinking it was a reprint it was that crappy Shigeki Hayashi one. ><

Oh great, this should be a perfect opportunity to purchase this album. The original print is quite rare and pricey nowadays.

Damn. That's two rare soundtracks I own getting reprinted (other one being Ibara ost). Bonus material probably should have been included before 'Baroque 206 Black' as that track properly ends the soundtrack.

Man I'm really digging the art design of this unusually macabre and grotesque title.
Well, Atlus kinda always delivered in that field.
By the way the game's intro is very well stylized and the main theme "Great Hest 20320514" sets the mood perfectly.

Do the credits really say "Toshiaki Dakoda" (rather than "Sakoda")? Shouldn't we fix it and link him anyway?

Yeah, it was clearly Sakoda on multiple earlier publications. Since we don't have a scan for this one, I changed it to Sakoda.

It does say Sakoda in the reprint, just for confirmation.

I see that the classification lists this as being a remaster, is that true? I thought it was simply a reprint with a few new bonus tracks.

Just to clarify, Atlus has little to no involvement in the development - it was made and published by Sting Entertainment. Atlus' role is limited to publishing overseas in English. Having said that, it cannot be denied that Baroque fits Atlus' overall portfolio theme.

The last two tracks (21-22) are referred to in the Notes as "two new tracks". What does "new tracks" mean? Are they new original pieces or tracks from the game that were missing from the original soundtrack release?

They are new bonus tracks for this release.

In the interview Iwata says at the time he thought a vocal song wouldn't fit, but for this release it'd be ok as a bonus track. Kazunari Yonemitsu (game's director) says if it were to play in the game, maybe it could go in the ending. As for the protos, they were rejected for being too melodious and not fitting what the director wanted.

Thanks Dag for the info. I have a few more questions:
  1. Should "original work" be added as a classification due to the new tracks?
  2. Should "vocal" be added as a classification due to the vocal song?
  3. The original print has "remix" in classifications, but this print doesn't. Why?
  4. This print has "remaster" in classifications, but the original print doesn't. Why?
  5. If there's no music specific to the PS1 port, shouldn't PS1 be removed from the platforms represented? (The PS1 port was released 17 months after the original Saturn release.)

Original and vocal sure. Remaster since this is remastered vs the original release (seems the same other than slightly louder). Removed remix since it didn't make much sense.

As for platforms, I removed PS1 on the original, but I'm not too sure how we handle re-releases. Usually platform is whatever existed at the point of release (later ports are implied and don't need to be covered). But since this release came +10 years after the games, you could say it targets people that played either Saturn or PS1 (music is the same), so I don't think it's wrong to add PS1.

Btw, tracks 15~18 are/were bonus tracks not actually in the game, but in a promotion/sampler Saturn CD thingie called "Baroque Report CD Data File", though I'm not sure if they need some classification so I added a note. (M17 is for intro instead of M01, M15 is 2nd intro vs M02, M16 is a trailer, M18 a commercial, some play in the menus and there is a missing track, by John Pee apparently).

If the OST re-releases of Valkyrie Profile and Star Ocean 2 done along with the PSP versions are anything to go by, adding the more recent ports as products represented seems fine.
