Where'd you find out about this? I didn't see any information on it. I hope there's a CD release eventually.

I believe it's the same process with all the other upcoming releases the same staff member adds.

I'm surprised they're doing this release digitally. I thought they'd be doing it physically.

it's simpler to release those digitally
ff1 -> 62 (1cd) / ff2 -> 55 (1cd) / ff3 -> 134 (2cds)
ff4 -> 119 (2cds) / ff5 -> 176 (3cds) / ff6 -> 278 (4cds)

after all ff releases ever made, making new cds... again
as for a 13-cds box, I'm not sure SQEX would try that (they must make enough of it to make a profit)
no idea if finest box sold well

Finest Box wasn't a commercial release, just a 5000 copy promotional for people who bought FFV and FFVI. If they had planned to make money off of it maybe they would have actually made it sound better than a YouTube upload from 2005

Where are these times coming from?

Yeah I'm dumb, I thought it was just this one up without bothering to look. The FFVI one especially seemed odd....more comments over on its album.

I do at least hope there is a digital booklet of some sort with these digital releases.

Hmmm, the catalog number starting with 5 makes me think at least these versions are going to be digital only, as the physical ones would start with 2 (and isn't that crazy to think, there's been over 1000 discs across all SQEX releases.....though I guess stiff like LEs with an extra disc have different ones)

Is there any info on which services will have it? I'm hoping it'll be released somewhere in lossless, but I highly doubt it'll happen.

All six of the soundtracks are going to be released in both standard quality and hi-res formats.

Where can I purchase in lossless? I'm only aware of Amazon, iTunes Store, etc., and they're all lossy. The Purchase links on the Square Enix Store link to the albums in the iTunes Store.

You can purchase the 24bit lossless at mora, e-onkyo, or OTOTOY

Mora has also a lenghty interview section below with composer/music supervisor Nobuo Uematsu and arranger/music director Hidenori Miyanaga , which gives some insights of the production. Would be great if anyone could translate it, as I only used Google for a basic translation.

There are some screenshots of the music production at https://www.4gamer.net/games/581/G058152/20210826058/ - one of them is a table that matches instrument/performer to track for FF1 and part of FF2.
