Added the original tracklist and changed the release date to June 24 (instead of July 24), which appears to be the correct date, looking at the official site and Famitsu.

Also, many of the tracklists on various web sources are inaccurate, so I've tried my best to correct wrong kana/kanji and whatnot, but I can't guarantee it's error-free (as the scans aren't the greatest). I managed to find a short snap of the tracklist on an official site for this soundtrack via Google, but I can't seem to get the full page with the actual tracklist. It's only the page description on Google that holds the tracklist now it seems. I also checked Wayback Machine, as far back as 2006, but nothing.. Unless I'm missing something.



So yeah.. I don't know. If someone manages to find an archived version with the tracklist, that'd be nice, because then we could be sure about the accurateness.. probably. Sure would be nice with some better scans, too, though.

Mitsuhiko Takano should be removed from the composer list, as he actually was not involved here, and appears only in "Special Thanks" during the credits. By the way, anyone has more information about the breakdown and Shiro Hamaguchi's role as orchestrator?

I have no idea if/how Takano is credited on this album, but two of Monster Hunter 3's composers are listed in the special thanks section, so I think it's entirely within the realm of possibility that Takano made a small contribution to the soundtrack.

I don't know if it's accurate (several MH albums have track commentary by the composers), but this page says track 25 was by Takano: http://www21.atwiki.jp/gamemusicbest100/pages/2635.html. (It also credits a few tracks to sound designer Momora, who we're not crediting as a composer on this entry yet.)

Ah, thanks Chz! Yes, the information provided sounds reliable. Takano's sole contribution easily sticks out from the rest of the tracks in terms of style and arrangement. Beside that, Momora is credited to mostly all tracks with sound effects within, next to some experimental ones ("Scat Cat Fever" with all those cat noises, for example).

Only one thing bothers me - why is track 27 credited to Masato Kouda, while the following track is credited to Tetsuya Shibata, even if it's the same music, only a little faster the second time?

Oh, and here's an excerpt from an Gamasutra Interview with Yuko Komiyama, where she talks among other things about the work with the sound designers:

At Capcom composers work closely with sound designers to create audio together. For Monster Hunter Tri, I teamed up with sound designer Momora. He is able to bring sounds that give the game a pleasant atmosphere, while foreshadowing events that are coming just around the bend. Music and sound effects co-exist, so cooperation in their creation makes perfect sense. As a composer I get lots of great ideas from sound designers, and the inspiration is mutual. We all have the same goal, spectacular sound, so it's easy to get along.

Just cleaning up the English tracklist to make it more consistent with other albums, but I have a few questions.

1) If a name is display in English but is the Japanese version of that name, should it be translated to it's localized name even though it's in English?

2) How can I add albums to the "Related Albums" section?

3) Can composer breakdowns only be added if it's present in the album itself or can an external source be used (specifically http://www21.atwiki.jp/gamemusicbest100/pages/2635.html, the same one previously mentioned in this thread)?

4) On that same page, the sound designer Takeshi Kitamura is credited alongside Masato Kōda for the area introduction themes (4, 7, 11, 13, 15) which mostly comprise or sound effects for the maps (he's also credited for a couple of the actual songs but I don't think he's included as an artist in this album), would he be added as an artist for this album for that contribution or should that be added to the "Notes" section?

Edit: This album confirms that Takeshi Kitamura (Momora) composed track 26 (Scat Cat Fever), so that page may be accurate with the other tracks it credits for the same name. At the least Takeshi Kitamura should be added as a composer on this album.
