Default Suggestions to update Pokémon franchise page

Seeing as this page is badly in need of updating, here's some suggestions for adding product pages.

Since the games are released in pairs but usually have essentially the same soundtrack, I think we should just follow how Nintendo named them, so one product page for Red & Green, Gold & Silver etc. (just follow how I put it below preferably) and standardize it for this site.

I've already changed the product listings on the albums listed below, if I missed any (probably the doujin/fan arrange ones) feel free to change them and link them once the pages are made.

Pokémon: Red & Green (JP: Feb 27 1996)
- Pokémon: Blue (JP: Oct 15 1996)

Ooh. The remakes NEED to be split though, they're very different in every way except basic concept. Also, it would be reasonable to treat Pocket Monsters' Stadium and Pocket Monsters' Stadium 2 as two different products, for the same reason we treat any "'sequel' that looks like an 'upgrade" as separate.

Fun fact: both the naming thing and the sequel thing are quirks shared by Shin Sangokumusou; two series provide yet another pair of compelling reasons why we absolutely need to adhere to original names and treat all others as second-rate alternatives, fun facts of history... they simply are, as dictated by reality.

...Enough about that. I'm unsure about Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum; they're somewhat different products with a different focus, meant to be "separate" from the first pairs; Black/White 2 may have "more", but they're still very close to the likes of those in spirit and in raw changes.

I actually think that for the purposes of this site, the remakes can be put as releases as they do share the same soundtrack except with additions.
I'll leave it up to the trusted editiors to decide.

Well, for once, the person that started that page seemingly got overwhelmed with the sheer volume of the series...or was aiming to make that solely for the anime. Either way, if a separation between both could be made, then that page could be kept as-is and be used for the anime and make a new one for the games - whatever works best, I think.

As for the title distinctions, I usually went for the "one at a time" route, as in list each name separately whenever making an entry that involves the games (i.e. Pokémon Green, Pokémon Red, etc.). After revising some of my entries, I agree to following the same order Nintendo usually does, as it makes things look better and organized.

Lastly, Despatche, split as in how, exactly? Whether they're special editions, updated versions, or just the remakes, they're still part of the same franchise. Granted, were I to make an entry of a doujin that has arrangements and/or remixes from the first games, I'm not going to list the remakes, other than including the special edition. If that's what you mean, then cool, I agree, otherwise you're being capriciously anal about stuff that in the end doesn't affect the flow of things.

I'm working on a similar list for the anime and the anime movies.

I think it's fine to have both, since franchises like this or this have both anime and games in the list of products.

Remakes and certain ports have a completely different soundtrack with new synth and everything 9/10. We try to avoid putting such platforms down because the album obviously doesn't represent them. It should be the same for product pages.

See above, but some of those "third versions" do contain new music, like Emerald and Platinum; usually we try to split those too. Maybe they could be treated as something akin to the Gradius ReBirth update, but that's a really weird case anyway.

I started going through the Pokemon video game catalog last week and went to the product page to use it as a reference. I was sad (and surprised) to see that it was non-existent. I agree with 413/0; I would prefer to see the anime and video game products separated.

Franchise pages, simply speaking, include everything. No animation or game separation, at least that wasn't done so far. Color says whether's a game, animation, print publication etc.

Fair enough. That's where my proposal for having a filter between album categories would come in handy! (http://vgmdb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=11871)

Happy X&Y people~

I've finished editing the product listings for most of the relevant albums for the anime (Best Wishes is missing a few albums that I'll add later), so the headpost is updated with stuff I've edited.

Will finish soon~

stop adding op/ed details at the end of track details, it's not clearly visible
don't bother with more editing, I'm doing the thing but if you want to add more albums, go for it

There's quite a bit of stuff left here that's unlinked, I dunno if you missed them or are still in the process of linking, just a heads up.

it's a matter of life or death if I don't assign everything in a row? or I can assign little by little?
you must be aware I make searches before assigning and after a moment it's annoying (I'm not gonna spend my life to assign products, I'm almost sure it's the same for everyone)
just be patient, the site won't fly away

I didn't forget, however I could need help for some non-japanese releases
also, since I don't care doujin albums, someone else should assign (in case they exist)

edit: I don't know if all vgmdb pokémon albums are in your first post, but you could update it by adding a sort of [linked] tag at the right of links
