Should we link iTunes Store for every single "exclusives" releases on iTunes ? Western like Eastern ones ?

It's currenly nearly used only by Namco digital releases (Namco Sounds by the way) with few exeptions.

It would be nice to refer to different stores based on the region digital releases are actually available.

We should be carefull before adding & linking to that distributor.
We have to be sure it was only available on iTunes for that.

Most of Square Enix digital releases were available somewhere else (mora, etc..)

iTunes isn't actually a distributor. (It's a store.)

There are actual companies that distribute to iTunes, for a possibly outdated list see http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/aw/help/id=200850070

I've crawled iTunes to identify 3 of those:
http://www.rightsscale.co.jp/ - 45802042***** barcodes
http://www.elicense.co.jp/ - 45801221***** barcodes in 2012, I do not know what barcode range they moved to in 2013.
http://www.crypton.co.jp/ - 45118209***** barcodes, mostly assigned to http://karent.jp/ but not exclusively so

your barcodes are wrongly displayed
you showed 8 digits when the correct display is 9, knowing you can only get 1000 products with "9-digit barcodes", it's probable elicense kept the same barcode range in 2013 (I doubt they could release 1000 products in one year)

(just for info, here's a little link: http://www.gs1jp.org/2009/barcodes_i...tion/01_1.html)

Totally agree on this part. There's no need to link it as distributor, since we don't link actual physical shops, we should do the same for digital releases.

This is interesting, I have a question though: where can you find the barcode for a specific iTunes release? I've tried to look around but I found nothing, just iTunes IDs or whatever.

Also I'm not sure whether or not we should link those, and if Distributor is the correct term.

@Phonograph:
Yes, you could strike out one of the wildcard digits in my post. However, the last e-License barcode I recorded is 4580122120535 (which isn't actually in the 458012211XXXC range that GEPIR has listed as the sole range for the company). So knowing that this is the case, even if you narrow the suffix by moving from 8 to 9 digits, you still get multiple companies in your range (assuming that some company that isn't e-License does issue barcodes in the 458012212**** range that is higher than 4580122120535.)

@Illidan:
There's not really a way to find the barcode for a specific release. You can only go in reverse, as in lookup a release from a barcode: https://itunes.apple.com/lookup?upc=...382&country=JP

maybe I wasn't clear enough, 8 digits for a barcode is totally WRONG
using 8 digits because it correponds to a certain range is wrong

from 2001, company ids went to 5 digits to 7 digits (+2 digits for country = 9)
so if you have for a same company 458012211 and 458012212, that simply means she uses 2 different company ids (maybe several companies use that, the 1000 products reach could occur, that which needs to use another id --to be sure, it should have a list of all barcodes for that id)
