So it eventually releases.

O'Donnel is no longer with Bungie, a strange move on their part to remove him "without a reason" considering such a long history together.

That and the legal clusterfuck that happened afterward, what with O'Donnell suing for breach of contract for unpaid time, and also an arbitrator having to come in to stop Bungie from essentially stealing O'Donnell's founder shares away from him since his contract stipulated that he'd only lose them if he voluntarily left, which he did not. They tried to strip him of his shares because "He'd be a distraction at board meetings!" and it was leaked that they wanted to use the shares for other things (Likely giving them to other high-ranking employees.)

Does anyone have an idea of how the composers break down? All the pre-release info I read mentions only O'Donnell in connection with original music and McCartney in connection with vague "ideas" and the song that isn't in this official release.

It seems like a bit of an intentional slight that O'Donnell's name is last among the three Bungie composers otherwise.

That was the first thing I noticed. It seems that Destiny's music was basically finished before O'Donnell was "terminated" and, to our knowledge, he was the sound director and lead composer for the project. It is completely unacceptable he is listed third. What do the game credits look like?

Composer and Audio Design: Michael Salvatori
Composer and Audio Director: Marty O'Donnell

There's also this part for additional music, don't know if those songs maybe made it to the OST...

Additional Music & Orchestration: Stan LePard

Orchestra: Northwest Sinfonia
Recording Engineer: Reed Ruddy
Recording Studio: Studio X, Seattle

You can watch the credits here, no spoilers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VNMYSRyfpYo (at 1:20 for the Audio part, additional music credits at 4:05, then the "Music of the Spheres" part at 4:55, and McCartney's "Hope Song" just after)

Same thing: he is listed after the two other composers, as "Composer and audio director".

They should have let McCartney contribute to composing. His solo classical works are fantastic. That would have been an improvement to the general score.

Bumping this thread: apparently Marty O'Donnell distributed some (100?) copies of Music of the Spheres (a "prequel" album or perhaps "image soundtrack" for Destiny), so they're floating out there somewhere. Just recently he tweeted a picture of one section of the case:

Some fans (OS_Epsilon, Tlohtzin and meatInYourTeeth) have somehow managed to piece together, through bits and pieces and some guesswork, a partial reconstruction of the original music. You can listen to it here:

According to ASCAP 13 & 17 tracks credited to Johnson, McCartney, O'Donnell and Salvatori (4 composers).
