Page 27 of the game manual confirms the full composer team. All 4 have compositions on the album despite Jack having sole credit on the album cover and digital release (that wasn't intentional).

.05/5 or 1/5 for me.

Having listened through the OST's in-game and standalone as an album. I can remember only two songs... I can't recall any of the song names either. Same boring style as ME1 imo. The OST's were probably the least impressive part of the mass effect games for me.

Yeah the OST isn't impressive. It doesnt hurt in-game, but it doesn't help either in placing an otherwise, cream of the crop game even further into gamers' memories and as a videogame classic.

There are some very good parts in Jacob, Thane, Grunt, and Jack. But only about 30 second sections. The problem with this soundtrack is that almost all tracks are medleys and overlong. I had to dissect every track and make excerpts or re-edits to keep only the good parts and make a listenable "album".

ME1 has the same issue. These could be 4-star albums if they had cut the crap and make each track contain only one theme. ME3 is much worse — they only kept the crap.

Halo soundtracks have the same problem as well. It's really stupid. I love Jeweled Hull and Chill Exposure from Halo 2, but I don't want to listen to the whole damn 8-minute suite just to get those two tracks. It's retarded.

I didn't even bother completely listening to Civilization V, it's interminable.

Actually, "location: behind you" is ludicrous.

Uuummm... ?8-D Location: at your window.

Making tracks into a medley is actually more effort, and makes the album worse. Why do it... Interesting, I can't recall a japanese/eastern soundtrack that's done that way.

I wasn't going to say it, but yeah, seems to be an American thing. I can, however, think of one Japanese example, and that is Secret of Mana +. Same thing as the American scores, with indexes splitting up the track in the CD's subcode, but the CD still being one track long. One gigantic stupid track -__-

But that's rather a mix with split tracks, isn't it? You can rip it as separate tracks, no?

It's still one gigantic track on the CD. That's only useful to you if you're a fairly experienced CD ripper. You're screwed if you like to buy a CD and put it into your CD player to listen to (okay, I realize this is probably few people today). Then again I can end up bitching about a lot of things, like looping video game music. Yeah, because I want a 4 minute song to become an 8 minute song, thanks guys -__-

Not sure if the Mass Effect soundtracks can be split by means of CD indexes, but those big tracks are annoying, aren't they?

According to ASCAP Jack Wall is presented on all tracks here, cant say is it due to real composition or just about royalties distribution.
