Default Tools

A common question between us all is, of course, "what do you use to make your compositions?". I figured I'd make a thread in which we can all share our tools.

Personally, I'm just using Finale (2009 for everything on the site right now, but I just got 2010), occasionally using Audacity to work some stuff out. I'm planning on getting Logic Studio for Mac soon, though...

I don't think so, Tim.

I work primarily in Cubase. I record guitar, bass, and everything else I record on keys. Logic is really awesome too, I have that installed on one of the macs.

Fuck logic. Logic is half the reason I would never consider recording on Mac OS X.

You don't know what you're talking about man. Logic is great! Completely logical workflow, very intuitive and efficient as hell. I guess you're starting to like having to reboot every 30 minutes when Sonar crashes.

Ever since I switched to Sonar 8 and Win 7, it has been solid as a damn rock.

Logic, on the other hand, despite the software, the drivers, and the OS all being made by the same company, is more unstable and has more issues than Sonar, let alone its incompatibility with anything.

I've never had a problem with it, but I will say that in terms of stability, nothing comes close to Cubase from what I've used. How is the multiprocessor support working in Sonar 8?

Also, did you get the 64bit version to run the way you want it?

Multiprocessing is pretty damn solid. I've got 64-bit running right, but unfortunately, it doesn't support rewire into 32-bit applications, like Reason, so I have to use x86 Sonar to bounce Reason tracks.

Do you use any version of Waves Shell (for C1, GTR, whatever else) in 64bit? I cant get waves shell 5 or 6 to work in Cubase X64.
