it'd be cool to include aliases on artist profiles even if they don't appear on any releases in the database. it's pretty interesting information to collect (like this for instance, I remember seeing Gatao appear in the credits to Sonic 2 on master system, and for quite some time I didn't know who it was.)

This should actually be doable because we are already actually storing all that alias info in the album table now to enable searches. We'll have to think about how to handle the fact that some aliases appear (and intentionally disappear) automatically through the linking, while others will be entered manually.

Getting back to Masafumi...

Masafumi Ogata did indeed compose Special Stage from Sonic CD. The game's Secret Special Stage includes a special staff list that appears upon completion. Ogata is credited for "Sound."

Another possible alias for Ogata could be TYPE-O, who worked on Defenders of Oasis. There's the O in 尾 of course, but also 形 can be translated as TYPE (I think form and shape are more common translations, though, I only saw it on Google Translate and Reverso, and other sites when combined with other characters like bab.la and proz.com). Plus, one of the jingles reuses most of the melody from Crystal in GOLDEN AXE II which Ogata's been credited with.
