after browsing some pages, I've realized that I'm doing it wrong
if someone could correct it

(I can't add albums to a product?)

Products can still only be linked by staff. The system need a little more work before opening it up to trusted editors, but it will be ready sometime soon. I'd forgotten that they could submit new product pages, too.

In these Conan albums, do the voice actors & singers really compose and arrange part of the soundtracks, and are the Japanese titles hardly available?

There are many singers out there who compose music and write lyrics, but "Boku ga Iru" is composed solely by Katsuo Ono, and Iori's role was just the singer, for instance.

Also, this isn't a race. Submitting 12 albums in an hour means less than 5 minutes spent per album entry. The result is always poor quality submissions with very little verification. This is not the way we want things done here.

We'r being invaded by Detective Conan !

Also, this album credits "Conan Edogawa" as an artist ?
Isn't Conan Edogawa the hero character's name ?

It is. The booklet only gives credit to "Conan Edogawa". Minami Takayama, his seiyuu, isn't mentioned. An obvious case of Pikachu.

Hi, guys. I'm pretty much responsible for the bulk of the confusion surrounding the Conan soundtracks. Really sorry for the inconvenience, so I think I should handle one at a time, instead of adding to them all piecemeal as I'm prone to do when tackling projects like this.

This has been my primary source for the Detective Conan albums: Album titles, catalog numbers, tracklists, retail prices, release dates, etc. Might be worth something, perhaps?

http://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Music

I can definitely vouch for the albums I claim personal ownership for, at least, but I'm either hit-or-miss on the artist performance, arrangements, etc.

Again, sorry for the all the possible inconsistencies. Hope I haven't left a gaping hole that is VGMdb's commitment to accuracy with my submissons.

Actually, one of the most valuable things you can do for us it to provide the scans for the albums you own. With those, those of us who can read some Japanese can put the finishing touches on the credits.

He's credited as the arranger too?

Nope, Katsuo Ohno is. I fixed the entry since I own the CD. (and some of the other Conan OSTs) I'm afraid, I'm not fast enough with editing all those submissions, tho.

I only submitted osts and best albums
and I won't submit no op/ed singles (don't have the patience of submitting like 60+ entries)

I think those two entries under "releases" should be deleted because they were mistakenly added.

Yeah, I need to code up a delete function sometime soon. In the meantime, we should probably just edit them to be something else.

So, the problem I encountered is that I also tried to add products but it didn't work out the way I wished to. I think this is due to the fact that "Detective Conan" was added as "title" but not as "franchise". Is it possible to change this? Considering all the releases it's fair to call Detective Conan a franchise more than just a title. It would work better for the movies, at least.

if I didn't put franchise, that's because it's one anime (still running since 1996)
movies (independent of the anime but using a lot of things from it) could be a part of a detective conan franchise, I guess

I didn't think someone would have added movies soundtracks tbh
and honestly, I only created this entry to link all anime albums you can't see in "related albums"

I guess you could actually have both. An entry as Detective Conan franchise which means the series itself and the movies and the title Detective Conan which is only the anime. The movies would be seperate products that can be added to the franchise site, same with the TV series.

I think the problem is, I don't have a good set of instructions.

When you add a product, you have two choices for the "Class"- Franchise or Title. Franchise is the general grouping that contains a bunch of related products, like the Mario franchise contains Super Mario Bros 1. etc. The title is an individual game or anime product.

For games, you can add a "release" for each country where the game is published, and for each new platform. For anime, the concept of release is a bit more tricky. I don't think it makes sense to list every DVD / VHS release, so that leaves us with 1 release that specifies the date the show aired in the production country. Optionally, I think we could also add overseas release dates if the show is picked up in other countries.

Couldn't Trusted even add a title logo? Like a new artist submission, I'm not sure if it's the best thing to enable somebody to add a new product but not to link albums. We have only increase the number of empty product entries.

I've removed the extra releases, since they are separate titles.
