5 08136 2: VIDEO GAMES LIVE: VOLUME ONE
So what's happening to this album, it seems everytime i check, it gets delayed one month and now it's delayed almost half a year?
When i spoke to Arnie Roth (PLAY conducter) back in October when he came to Oslo he mentioned they were working on a dvd release but it was hell to get all the licence holders to agree, is this the same deal maybe? |

No idea. Certainly a good question to throw into the VGL thread at Gamingforce.

Apparently it's a legal issue. Maybe licensing or contractual.

New tracklist released? Apparently the Final Fantasy, Zelda and Mario tracks have been removed and replaced by Kingdom Hearts and Castlevania. |

Yes. I found this out from the press release for the Leipzig concert so reported it at VGM Rush and SEMO. Confirms my loving speculations plus there's a surprise that not even Sonic the Hedgehog is there. But at least this CD will actually be released.

Music4Games are re-reporting that the old track listings using EMI's track listings. This is wrong as there seems to be little way that the original track listings will continue due to Nintendo and Square Enix. I copy-and-paste original source of information (.doc is too big to attach):
Quote:
http://www.hbdirect.com/album_detail.php?pid=1029834 http://www.7digital.com/stores/produ...719&pid=267809 http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/...Games+Live.htm And most decisively: http://www.emimusic.de/produkt/5099950813629 I suspect that M4G was told of the new release date but not the new track listings so they did a quick Google search and re-reported an old source. Excuse the triple post, but you people should read this and copy accordingly:

Ah, finally. The emiclassics site was showing the old tracklisting earlier so I put off updating that. I'll put the release date as July 22 and place the earlier iTunes release date in the notes section.
By the way, I'm unsure how to handle the catalogue number: EMI puts it as 5081362, a subset of the full catalogue number which is actually the GTIN code (and we have an internal field for that). Also, putting the original notes section here for reference (pretty much the same as the original release info on emiclassics): Quote:

Might just be me, but shouldn't we be putting the earliest official release date as the proper release date, regardless of the release method/medium? I would think the note would go the other way around, noting the physical release coming second. I'd rather we nail down a consistent approach on staggered releases.

Nice job. Just one correction: it was apparently released on June 30, not June 31.

Note to self: June 31 is not a valid date... oops!
I've stripped the notes to the bare information, and removed the artists associated with the tracks that were taken out. You guys can take over from here. |

So this is going to be a digital release now?

It's already been released digitally on June 30. A CD release will follow on various dates in July and August depending on your location. The digital release has hardly been promoted. My opinion is that they wanted to release something before PLAY! did (PLAY! initially released a July 1 release date for their mysterious CD) but avoid promoting the CD. That way, people don't know that it does not contain Zelda, Mario, Final Fantasy, and Sonic material when it appears at various concert stands. Then again, I've heard a hell of a lot about VGL behind the scenes so am very cynical about most of their tactics.

Added some more covers that were included in the e-mail announcement of the album.

Actually, the iTunes release and the CD release should have separate entries, with one being a child album of the other.

The iTunes release wasn't promoted, no? In this case, the printed release date on the physical copy of the album takes precedence, and the iTunes version would be more of a pre-release child album. That's what I think, anyway.

Added full credits from VGL's press release, which I found on OSV:

Hey, I just noticed that the images that they had in the press release aren't exactly the same that the album ended up having, the differences aren't huge though. Should the ones from press release be replaced with scans, or something else?

How should I go about it? Just up the scans and let you guys handle it?

Sure, just change the captions of the old scans to "delete" or something.

Done and done. I think there might be some failed uploads somewhere in there as well, when I first tried to upload the scans it kind of just froze on the 'generating thumbnails' part for sometime, until I just killed the browser window.
Ah well.

I wonder if we should keep the old scans as some kind of historical record.

I changed the link of “Club Kukeiha” to “Konami Kukeiha Club” instead of “Kukeiha Club”. Clearly this credits refer to the studio team (Konami Kukeiha Club), not the jazz fusion band (Kukeiha Club).

I just changed the release type to CD, since there's a UPC listed. Didn't think to look at this discussion first, but I agree with the suggestion that if the digital release is recognized it should be a child entry (or the CD should be a child of that).
Apologies if I've messed up. |

Just got a copy of this from VGL Singapore, for $30 SGD. That's about $20 USD.

Someone posted that link from an other board
http://kotaku.com/5287047/video-game...own-mp3-player It's a pre-loaded MP3 player with a different "Video Games Live" album (with a different tracklist). I don't know if we can consider it as a true album for the database or not. Could be entered as enclosure/promo.. maybe.. |

By the way, if you purchase the album from iTunes music store, you get an extra bonus track #12:
"Falling", Written, produced and performed by Tommy Tallarico for Earthworm Jim. |

I was thinking ... although isn‘t credited in the booklet, it wouldn’t be interesting to add credits of orchestras of live recordings in Brazil and Mexico?
Is not possible to know what Brazilian cities recordings were made the recordings, but there was only one show in Mexico, then it can only be the Ensamble de Jóvenes Orchestra. However, I find it odd that in the YouTube video I didn’t see the musicians credited on the CD... http://www.videogameslive.com/index.php?s=dates http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZugR6MTyUU&fmt=18 |
