The pre-tax price of this box is 8801 JPY, which is pretty cute :3

Everyone have fun figuring out which (Falcom) games the generic titles on disc 1 are referring to!

IRS form 8801? Credit for Prior Year Minimum Tax—Individuals, Estates, and Trusts?

More likely Drasle Family on Famicom, since he was actually involved with that one and Romancia FC was ported by Compile (and penned a bunch of new music). We'll probably have a better idea as soon as we get to hear the album.

Some deep obscure stuff in this box. Wanderers from Super Scheme and Variant7 are known to be doujin games Koshiro made himself.

Its too bad we don't have Beyond Oasis on here. That game was fun and had a GREAT Arabian inspired soundtrack. Best since Genesis Aladdin.

This was my assumption as well, but there's a sample from that game on the site now and it's not any known song from Slap Fight.

The filename however is md_04_25_YK2_039_SLAP21_Has-shin.mp3, so possibly it's another unused song that's only being released now.

Is this yet another album where you'll need to replace a disc because they messed up with the recording?

Apparently the song "BRAVERY SOUL" (intended to be track 1.29) was left off entirely, oops! To make up for it, they're going to do a whole extra disc with additional material on it. Will be given out on mail orders too. No ETA on completion yet.

The album's site also says there were a couple of errors in the liner notes.

It hasn't been a great couple of months for album releases, has it...

I wonder if that had to do with the box being unavailable to order right on the release date. If they only accepted pre-orders and manufactured the amount they received orders for, they would've been forced to close the pre-orders some time before the release date. The box was available for pre-order just 4 days before the release.

They're not listed anywhere on the site but it turns out that the box also provides years for each of the games, which combined with the developers, systems, & genres of the censored game titles should be enough to reveal what they are. For good measure, the codes given to the music files abbreviate the game titles too.

Uh oh, I ordered it via proxy. Is Beep going to send out the discs automatically to the proxy or am I going to have to take action? From how I'm interpreting the above tweet, seems they'll just send them out when they're finished.

Added info about the DVD, received from someone that has a copy. Not entirely sure about the content, so the comment on the notes is not complete.

Hm... the content on this set looks really interesting, that's for sure. But when I take a look on how much stuff they crammed on one disc, and when it comes to track times... ugh. Not really sure how that translates to having a good listening experience. You're gonna run through Koshiro's stuff in the shortest time possible it seems.

I assume this could have been an awesome set with 16 discs, same content?!

Seems the page for it is no longer available?

They've stopped selling it until the new disc is ready.

I contacted mine and gave them a heads up, they said they should be able to receive it.

Just to clear up confusion on this, this box set is mostly demos and prototypes, and they are for the most part as long as the track times suggest. This collection is great if you want to hear a Koshiro's process and a bunch of outtakes that have otherwise been unheard. But expect a lot of songs to be very unfinished; some end abruptly or fade out quickly, some have melodies that go nowhere and suddenly cut out.

This sounds to me like scanning Michael Jackson's doodles and selling them. Why not, I guess there's a market for everything, plus the "buy and resell in a week with a 200% mark-up" trend (c.f. the Goemon box, before it was reprinted).

@NightsB: Thanks for the clarification.
Well, in that case it makes more sense of course.

Still, an odd set. The content seems more a candidate for a digital release instead of a CD, imho.

Seems like they've created an extra disc now to correct the previous mistake, and add some additional stuff, but I still can't see the track that was initially missing, unless it's one of the cryptically named ones.

Unfortunately, I didn't save a copy of the old spreadsheet that had the filename for BRAVERY SOUL, so I can't check if that same filename is one of the songs on the extra disc. :\

I went through the new spreadsheet, and some stuff I noticed:

The songs that were actually released in games and stuff are marked with stars now! But it might not be completely accurate, because 5.06 has a star and "(Unused)" is in the title lmao

Several songs that definitely have names in the box set are now only referred to by filename, so I think it's possible that the tracks in the extra disc with code names could have real names once it comes out.

It says that for Gate of Labyrinth, Dark Storm, and The Stickman Is Back (both versions), only songs by Yuzo Koshiro were included, implying that those games had other composers. I guess that's most interesting regarding Stickman, since those weren't ever released.

Source conflicts between what was printed on the original release of the album and what's on the tracklist:
  • 1.77: Album - MUSIC LALF, spreadsheet - Original '88-89
  • 5.02: Album - MISTY BLUE, spreadsheet - MUSIC LALF
  • 6.03~14: Album - The GG SHINOBI (Early type), spreadsheet - Original '88 PSG series

A few notes about Actraiser here:
Why only one track from Actraiser (SFC)?

Also, Actraiser 2: first time release and/or on CD.
