Added track times to this beast. Also corrected a small error and added artist designations.

Finally got a copy after quite some time tracking it down. Man was it worth it. I was quite familiar with 2/X's music but I'm amazed at how good the music from 5 is (3 is also insane, but I already had heard quite a bit fo it playing the game). I miss a bit the more military theme of the earlier games, but it's so good it just makes up for it.
I'd say it's already worth it

Yeah, I picked it up, and I love the music. I feel kinda bad because the games were so great but I always played them on emulators until the Collection came out - do yourself a favor and get the PS2 version (I just think SNK was stupid for charging $500 for the games on Neo Geo - but now I guess they're compelled to re-release Metal Slug 1 in every arcade collection they make???). It's a good collection, and I'm not dissatisfied with the purchase (even if I barely listen to it It had pretty good presentation, too, which always counts.

I guess the only things missing from the collection now are 6 and 7. I don't know if anyone's ripped 6 yet, but HCS will likely have a mini2sf archive available by May.

About the track ordering errors on the Metal Slug 4 disc, there's also the fact that the ending themes are mixed up. "Good Ending" is the Bad Ending theme, "Bad Ending" is the Good Ending one.

How's the quality of this release compared to the recent digital releases?

I've noticed an odd inconsistency between releases for the Metal Slug 3 track, "STEEL BEAST 6BEETS." Both the sound box and the original soundtrack use 6BEETs, the digital release on Mora uses 6 as well, but like all instances excluding the original soundtrack and sound box the spelling has been corrected to "Beats." The weird part is every other release (the CD/Vinyl by Wayô Records, the SNK Arcade Sound Digital Collection Vol.13, Amazon, Ototoy, iTunes (US) and iTunes (JP) have it labeled as "7Beats" instead of 6. Looking further into it though I believe that "7Beats" was actually a correction as opposed to a mistake because in the first Metal Slug this song follows a 5/8 time signature, in Metal Slug 2/X it's in 6/8, in Metal Slug 3 it's in 7/8 and in Metal Slug 6 alternates between 6/8 and 7/8 every measure.

I noticed that in the Wayo release. I asked about it on Twitter and they said that 7BEATS is the correct name: https://twitter.com/wayorecords/stat...40147396845568

Out of curiosity has anyone done a comparison between the sound box and the digital releases? I was wondering if there was any difference in terms of quality or not. Initially I assumed that they were identical, but I recently noticed that the track lengths were different. Most of them are only slightly longer, but some of the shorter tracks are now twice as long. Additionally, the title track from MS1, 2 & X have been omitted from the digital release and the MS4 one lacks the track title/order errors that were present on the sound box.

Edit: I just noticed another minor error on this release which was corrected on the digital release of MS6.
7.14 is listed as "Awesome Rush (ファイナルボス1)" even though it's used after 7.15 "Discharge (ファイナルボス2)" so if anything the notes in the parentheses should This was changed to "Discharge (最終ボス)" & "Awesome Rush (最終ボス後デモ)" on the more recent digital release.

I compared the times between this and the digital releases for those interested (Tracks exclusive to the physical release are not included in the total time).

Metal Slug 1
CD= 32:09 (Track 1 is exclusive.)
Digital= 32:44

Metal Slug 2
CD= 38:52 (Track 1 is exclusive.)
Digital= 38:44

Metal Slug X
CD= 41:39 (Track 1 is exclusive.)
Digital= 44:03 (Mostly comes from Boss Theme A, which is 1:48 longer.)

Metal Slug 3
CD= 51:06
Digital= 81:34

Metal Slug 4
CD= 34:07 (Track 2 / 18 / 19 is exclusive.)
Digital= 37:51

Metal Slug 5
CD= 39:44
Digital= 41:44

Metal Slug 6
CD= 41:28
Digital= 41:24

Metal Slug 3D
CD= 61:21 (Track 1 is exclusive.)
Digital= 108:18

Biggest losses for the digital format are the arranged track on Disc 8 and the 3 peculiar omissions from Metal Slug 4 (Unless they are a reprisal from another Metal Slug).
