How very unexpected! I really appreciate all this Nintendo music getting official releases lately.

I couldn't find much info about the arrangers aside from Tomomichi Takeoka. I wonder if the BotW composer will be credited? This album might be released before the game.

Pre-ordered mine. If anything, for that DVD. I could do with less modern Zelda and am hoping for more Zelda II and Zelda III within those medleys.

The DVD is just the video display though, and not the concert itself, right??

Guilty. Some of the (beautiful) piano sections of the trailers reminded me of the Animal Crossing New Leaf hourly themes (specially 1:00 am...), and this is the first time we have heard of her in quite a long time.

I can't wait to see what does she bring to the table, specially since Breath of the Wild is a complete breakthrough from the standard Zelda formula, which also applies to music.

Given the probable size of the game (being light "open-world", and co-developed by Monolith Soft), and given SS's large soundtrack size, I think it's fair to assume a number of other composers are involved. Maybe even some of Nintendo's contractors, whether we have heard of them or not.

I need to check out Manaka Kataoka now.

Based on what we've seen so far it doesn't seem like there's going to be a whole lot of music compared to previous Zelda games.

They're going with that "open air" minimalist approach, kind of like Minecraft. On the overworld, the music is used sparingly. It's a large open world and they didn't want the same music to be looping over and over while you're exploring.

Sorry, but that does not look right to me. Link's hand should be oriented like this:

Wait! Here's a better one:

Unfortunately, it looks like they decided to not include the two encore tracks on this album. Which means no BotW main theme.

Aw, come on! The main theme is magnificent! This is saddening news..

My friend ordered this through Amazon.co.jp and has gotten an order update in Japanese. Can anyone tell me what it's about, what have they done? Is it just to tell about the CD not having the two encores anymore?

The email just informed for those who had already ordered the album that they are now selling another edition with different benefits, which is the same, but with a clear ticket holder.

Can anyone confirm if the DVD is actually concert footage, or just the video from the video display?

It's the video from the video display.

I just got this in the mail, which I ordered for a friend from Amazon.co.jp. Before I give it to him, here are some quick facts I've confirmed so far:
-It's a region free DVD ("ALL NTSC"), playable on all American DVD players.
-There is talking in Japanese for the Ocarina Medley Suite (would be interesting to get a translation). Applause is audible between songs for the CD. However, there seems to be no applause between any song for the DVD, suggesting it was edited out of the recordings presented on the CDs.
-The DVD audio is stereo DVD LPCM 48000 Hz.
-It's pretty much a straightforward downconversion from the HD source to the SD DVD, with a static image track selection menu and nothing else.
-I skipped around the video footage. It seems to feature all main Zelda games except for Breath of the Wild. For games that were remastered for 3DS or Wii U, those are the versions that are used in the footage (it's a shame they didn't release this on Blu-ray for the Wii U footage).

I'm disappointed too about the omission of Breath of the Wild. However, I do like that the DVD is a direct feed of the video footage without applause instead of the performance footage which makes it better for background party viewing (would've been cooler to have had both options of course).

UPDATE: The DVD is single layer 3.65 GB. The video quality is still relatively decent for SD probably because it's only about 1 hour of video. But the main disappointment there is that they had room on the disc for the other songs that are only on the CDs.
UPDATE #2: Corrected that Japanese talking can be found on at least one of the tracks (would be good to get a translation). Also did minor edit to detail about applause not being on DVD.

Default Track Times and English Track List Added... GOOD GOD THIS ALBUM IS TOO A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

I added track times for the two CD dics and an English track list (based on the notes for the native default Japanese track list). I also added this information to the entry for the standard version.

I must say... Nintendo TOTALLY OUTDID themselves with this thing! A fantastic selection of both traditional and contemporary pieces spanning the entire Zelda timeline. My only gripe is that they seem to have left out Link's Awakening (Though there is a remedy for that https://soundcloud.com/jeremiah-sun/...al-arrangement ).

The signal to noise ratio on the recording is UNBELIEVABLY GOOD!!! By far, one of the 'cleanest' concert recordings Ii have ever heard. It's just too bad that we weren't offered high quality 24-bit digital downloads when we pre-ordered it. But it's a wonder Nintendo even released this, and 2 discs with a bonus DVD to boot!

If you're into Zelda music stop whatever you're doing and buy this NOW at http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/COZX-1293 (limited edition) or http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/COCX-39895 (standard edition) . You will totally LOVE it!

It's clips and screen shots of the various game titles, so just material from the video display.

I've noticed that we can take a couple more composer confirmations from this album: track 1.05 contains the Fraaz and Fyrus themes (from Spirit Tracks and Twilight Princess, respectively), and out of the three composers the only one who worked in those games and could have done those themes was Toru Minegishi.

Just to clarify, Koji Kondo confirmed that he only made one song for both Twilight Princess and Spirit Tracks, and he definetely didn't do any boss music in either of those games.

Had just got my copy today, would really love a composer breakdown if someone can provide.

Nevermind, was thinking Disc 3 needed one.

I noticed in the booklet:
Quote:
Arrangers
Kosuke Yamashita
Chad Seiter
Mahito Yokota (Nintendo)
Ryo Nagamatsu (Nintendo)
Tomomichi Takeoka
But in the program that CHz found, Yokota isn't listed as an arranger on any of the tracks.
