A recent edit removed the following statement:

Quote:
(Track names and order is actually incorrect. The order and names were corrected in Yuzo Koshiro Best Collection Vol. 2)
A track name error was fixed in YK Best 2, and is noted here, but I don't see any difference in the track orders, so I don't know where this came from.

(The names of the tracks in this OST are not correct. Arrange them in alphabetical order to get the proper tracklist. They were corrected as of Yuzo Koshiro Best Collection Vol. 2.)
Our tracktimes are close for those two albums, so I don't think this is correct. Can anyone verify the order by listening to the original disc?

I'm going to reject the edit, until we get concrete proof.

While I don't have this release, I'm willing to bet the tracklist is already correct, as it matches exactly with the one the 3rd disc of Yuzo Koshiro Best Collections 2, and there were no swaps on that one.

I have listened to the soundtrack, and even though the tracklist matches up with the Best Collection soundtrack, the order is incorrect. The tracks here have been arranged alphabetically and given the wrong names.

Oh, so you are saying that the order is wrong in both places. Does this come from comparison with some kind of sound test?

Don't understand the hate for this ost. Anyhow, "Fuze" at .35 playback speed is an absolute monster track. Try it out.

Yeah, I love this OST. Koshiro's tracks are experimental and out there, but it's interesting. Kawashima's tracks are solid as fuck.

The soundtracks for Streets of Rage (1991) and Streets of Rage 2 (1992) were influenced by house, techno, and hardcore techno. For the soundtrack to Streets of Rage 3 (1994), however, he created a new composition method called the "Automated Composing System" to produce "fast-beat techno like jungle." It was the most advanced techno technique of the time, incorporating heavily randomized sequences. This resulted in innovative and experimental sounds generated automatically that, according to Koshiro, "you ordinarily never could imagine on your own." This method was very rare at the time, but has since become popular among techno and trance music producers to get "unexpected and odd sounds."

Wish there was more information on this and whether Yuzo still uses this system.

The interview at SEMO has some info on it.

Chris: Considering your versatility further, the Streets of Rage (aka Bare Knuckle) trilogy features a range of electronic approaches from you. How were you able to create such compositionally and technologically accomplished electronic tracks for these games? Did you enjoy revisiting the scores as a DJ at recent Linear events?

Yuzo Koshiro: I adopted the techniques of early 90s house and hip-hop music for the first two Streets of Rage titles. In contrast, for the third game, I used the most advanced techno technique of the time by incorporating heavily randomized sequences. I think researching the featured genres deeply led the scores to have a highly complete feel. In addition, the special sequencing program that I made with C++ helped the Streets of Rage 3 score in that regard. As for DJing with the series' music, my DJ skills weren't very good at the time, so I don't have very good memories of it. (laughs)

Also, some of the other games he did around that time (The Story of Thor, Eye of the Beholder, Vatlva, Miracle Casino Paradise) have some of the traits that make me think he used some of the same techniques for them.

At first I was like whoa, this is bad. Then I grew to like it. Now after hearing much more of Yuzo, it's pretty bad again. The better songs were by Kawashima.
