I'm a bit amazed by the redundancy of the notes

oh the tracklist has 20 tracks? I hadn't noticed the number of tracks in the tracklist
oh it lasts 1.28 hrs? I hadn't noticed the 77 mins in the tracklist (edit: lol, just realized the guy divided 77 / 60)
oh "Brought to you by Joypad Records" really? I didn't see the publisher ;p

seriously wtf with the notes, I must continue?

UPCs are required by all major digital outlets, so we assign them for all of our releases.

a barcode is used for shops, real shops

having barcodes for a digital release is complete nonsense

Universal Product Codes are more than just barcodes; they are unique identifiers for unique products. The entire music industry relies on UPCs for tracking, reporting, charts, etc. All commercial albums have them; iTunes and all major digital stores require them. Hope that explains it!

a barcode is used in shops for physical products, it allows to get the price (and some other info) from a barcode reader
so cd, dvd, food, etc. can have barcodes in that purpose

but digital releases aren't physical, so it's stupid to assign a barcode to a product that doesn't need one
I guess online retailers (itunes, etc.) are stupid

I'm 100% certain GermanSeabass knows what a barcode is, but if these digital relases have something like it, then why reject it?

I think all Joypad releases have UPCs. We certainly won't teach Joypad Records/GermanSeabass how to do their job. So of course UPCs stay.

So using UPC's for tracking, reporting, charts, etc. is stupid, even if it's for digital stuff?
