Default Scan resolution size limit?

I'm trying to upload some 2x4 size booklet scans (in the form of a poster about 5600x11100). The scan is only about 3mb so it uploads fine but I get an unknown error after processing. I can only assume it is because of the high resolution.

Is there a particular limit for resolution? I'd rather not cut it up if possible.

I think it's around 5000px or 6000px for width.

Got it under 6k and it processed fine, thanks! Hopefully it'll work for the 3x4 booklets I'm doing next.

I have a similar problem:
I added this album and it has one of those foldout booklets. I scanned it in parts and joined it afterwards. The resolution is 5692 x 1402 px. The image uploader gave me a "file too big" error though. Is this because of the resolution or is the filesize too big (~6 MB each)?

Filesize, resolution should not be limited. Try to keep it at about 5Mb.

I scaled them down a bit until the filesize was under 5 MB and...it worked
Thanks for the help.

In the case of those rare fold-out booklets, I just split the image into parts and upload those. There was one that folded out to 12 pages (3x4) and had some absurd resolution like 12000x12000 with lots of pictures and stuff. Lowering it to 5MB or shrinking the whole thing weren't reasonable options.

I had this problem as well when i was uploading the Shin Megami Tensei IV booklet scans (just about every picture had crazy resolution).

But i actually found a very useful site for helping with that issue.

All you have to do is upload your pictures there and save them to your computer again. The quality of the scans is not reduced at all but the filesize goes down by a very significant amount.

I always use Irfanview when working with images.
The fold-out booklet (those are not that rare unfortunately) I was referring to only had like 6 pages when unfolded (and was still readable after the resizing) but 12 pages is pretty crazy.

Thanks leatherhead, sounds interesting. Will check it out.
