Convention Field
A "Convention" field that pops up, once informationen was inserted and submitted, would be a feature to think about. Having those informations can be very useful sometimes. A pre-defined version of this feature would be even more helpful. Just adding the exact date and the convention field auto-detects the convention, at least if coding technically possible.
It's better than adding an extra line in note field, in my opinion. The current way we use quite often. I for myself, would be very happy about a feature like this but it's still just an idea. It'd make things much more comfortable. |

Yeah, I'm planning to add an "event" field. You add events to the VGMdb forums calendar, which you can then link albums to. I'll see if I can get it up by... say, tonight.

Okay, you guys can try it out. The system works like this:
Step 1: Add an event to the forum calendar, like this: http://www.vgmdb.net/forums/calendar...2007-12-29&c=1 (remember to make it ranged dates, also, I haven't checked calendar permissions so you may be unable to add events at the moment) Step 2: Admire your freshly added event on the events page: http://www.vgmdb.net/db/events.php (You can now access it via the Browse menu on the top navigation bar) Step 3: Assign albums (alternatively, you can assign albums when you add them, but I haven't coded it yet) Click on the Edit menu to the top right of the page when viewing a particular event. Note: The albumid box will be ignored if you choose a suggestion in the dropdown list. Also, the "Pre-release" type is for albums which have an official release date after the event (this also means it won't appear in the suggestion list, so you'll have to specify its album ID). When in doubt, just choose "New Release". I still have to program in the event display for album view pages, as well as custom sorting for the event album listing, but the system should basically be working. Try it out, see if there's any errors before I proceed. Before I forget, thanks to Gaia for the suggestion, and to track 02 - Mission:Love sniper from the Little Busters! Rin Character Song Album, the extreme mind-numbing properties of which allowed me to code for 5 hours straight. |

This looks very nice so far. Thanks for your work.
I tried to add C72, but for some reason I couldn't. Probably the calendar permission, as you've mentioned. Anyway... I already got some convention dates here: --- ComicRevolution 37 2005/04/24 / Ikebukuro Sunshine City Comiket 64 2003/08/15 - 2003/08/17 / Tokyo Big Sight Comiket 65 2003/12/28 - 2003/12/30 / Tokyo Big Sight Comiket 66 2004/08/13 - 2004/08/15 / Tokyo Big Sight Comiket 67 2004/12/29 - 2004/12/30 / Tokyo Big Sight Comiket 68 2005/08/12 - 2005/08/14 / Tokyo Big Sight Comiket 69 2005/12/29 - 2005/12/30 / Tokyo Big Sight Comiket 70 2006/08/11 - 2006/08/13 / Tokyo Big Sight Comiket 71 2006/12/29 - 2006/12/31 / Tokyo Big Sight M3-14 2004/10/09 M3-15 2005/05/01 11:30-16:30 M3-17 2006/04/29 11:30-16:30 MangaMatsuri 2006 2006/02/12 / Nagoya, Tōkai Chihō / 寒すぎる Reitaisai 2 2005/05/04 Reitaisai 3 2006/05/21 Reitaisai 4 2007/05/21 Ugetsusai 2006 2006/07/02 11:00-15:00 / Tōkyō, Tōritsu sangyō bōeki Center / 6th floor --- I don't know if there were any VGM releases at ComicRevolution 37, MangaMatsuri 2006 and Ugetsusai 2006. Lookin good so far.
But Comic Market is semiannually, not biannually. EDIT: Technically you could use either, but semiannual is more correct.

To Gaia: http://pooshlmer.com/touhouwiki/inde...ate:Convention
bTW MangaMatsuri 2006 is not its official name, it is actually 東方まんがまつり but I didn't know whether there would be others... 寒すぎる = samusugiru (cold as death), because, well it was Nagoya in winter (comment that I picked from a blog entry covering the event) The venue for reitaisai is 大田区産業プラザ(PiO) (Plaza Industry Ota) Last edited by R-T; Dec 30, 2007 at 07:12 AM. |

I made a small tweak to the suggested albums on the link assignment page because the search query was missing the albums from the last day of the event.

The vB forum calendar only goes as far back as 2004, so it's impossible to add events in 2003 or earlier, such as Comiket 65 and all the ones before it. Is it possible to extend the calendar backward? The earliest event I could find in the database is Comiket 54 back in 1998 with this album, but there may very well be even earlier con releases.

It currently is only usable by staff. We'll have to work on getting something set up for the general public to be able to hook up events. I wonder if the whole event system should be tied to the album calendar instead of the forum one, now that we have it.
