A brief explanation of the first song in this album
About the first song in this album, it is based on a traditional Japanese poem "いろは歌", basically a Japanese version of the Alphabet song. But it is written before the 国語改革(literally means "National Language Reformation"), "the way of using Kana" (仮名遣) is different. (The modern one is based on the pronunciation of the word instead of the historical pronunciation)
Because of that, いろは歌 is not pronounced as how it writes. For example Japanese: 色は匂へど 散りぬるを 我が世誰ぞ 常ならむ Modern Pronunciation: Iro Wa Nioe Do, Chiri Nuru O; Wa (N)ga Yo T/Da*re Zo, Tsune Naran** Original Pronunciation (For Reference): Iro Wa Niwoye Do, Chiri Nuru Wo; Wa Ga Yo Tare Zo, Tsune Naram *Actually, "Tare" is Old Japanese, in modern should be pronounced as "Dare", but they still pronounce it in Tare when they are reading old texts. **Actually, "Naran" is Old Japanese, in modern should be pronounced as "Narou", the reason is the same as the former. (It is more complex but I won't explain it any deeper) |
