Does anyone have a good solid source for the composition for this album?
Chudah's Corner says: Toshinori Numata JGML says: Will Wright, though I kind of doubt that's true http://kosiro.hp.infoseek.co.jp/gmh/id1/1330.htm Brian Conrad, Sue Kasper, Justin McCormick Gamespot seems to confirm this, but for the US version of the game. Did the Japanese version have different music? |

The music on this album is definitely arranged from the US version of the game, which I'd assume has the same music as any overseas version. Brian Conrad, Sue Kasper, Justin McCormick is correct.

Thanks, CHz. I unlinked the old artist and accepted the new edit.

Indeed. I'm curious about how much Brian Conrad and Justin McCormick have contributed since I'm under the impression Sue Kasper was the main composer. Will be digging a little deeper on my side and will inform you of any further discoveries.

My guess was a good one! Sue Kasper wrote the whole SimCity 2000 soundtrack. Conrad and McCormick only worked on making it playable in-game.
This was confirmed by e-mailing Ms. Kasper. |

That was a really fast response
We probably should put in a footnote regarding the conflicting artist information. |

Definitely!
Further looking-around revealed these rather original pieces of credits from the DOS version of the game: "Sue Kasper gave up a promising career as a karaoke singer to create the music for SimCity 2000." "Brian Conrad and Michael Perry kept the orchestra in tune with cool tones by the Fat Man." EDIT: Added a note concerning the proper credits. Last edited by Rimo; Jan 14, 2008 at 07:44 PM. |

I rejected the addition of [SIM-MELODY] from SIM CITY2000 as an alternate title, as I don't see a format like that anywhere. If anyone has evidence to corroborate it (like an Obi scan), then go ahead and edit it back in.

"[SIM-MELODY] from SIM CITY2000" I'll upload complete cover scans as soon as I have unsealed it.

Sealed copy, huh? Nice =D
But the use of brackets like this is so common I don't see the need to add that as an alternative title. It's sort of like having ALL CAPS versions of titles as alternate titles just because it's printed in all caps somewhere in the packaging. |

I prefer the front cover title over the obi title, in this case. The obi title differs only by stylistic elements. You can consider our current title with natural capitalization as a compromise between the two versions.

Well, on the other side it has the title in Japanese:
"[シム-メロヂィ] フロム シム-シティ2000" Perhaps we should include that as the original alternate title?

Yeah, I think it's worth putting that in as the Japanese title.
