The sample on Suzuki's blog here contains vocals from Origa. Could we assume that this is going to be on the soundtrack release, and add her to the list of performers?

The game will have many performers anyway so I think we should wait until the soundtrack release. Other known performers are Shigekazu Aida (guitar), Kentaro Nakao (bass), Takashi Kashikura (drums), Yu Manabe (violin) and Takuro Iga (piano) for some tracks.

Edit: there's also Aska Kaneko on violin, presumably the electric violin on Suzuki's track.

Its sound like Suzuki and Origa collaborate quite a lot on this album. I love her voice so much, never thought i would hear her on a final fantasy soundtrack.

Samples for all four discs are now online. Some of the tracklistings (mainly in disc 2 and 4) have some ??? tracks, presumably spoilers for the story, so they have not been updated yet. Interesting to see Shootie HG on the album. That was a bit unexpected. Rumor has it he provides vocals for a metal version of the chocobo theme.

ok, I'm gonna work hard on this when I get home. LOTS of scanning. The booklet is huge. Lots of artists to list, TONS of English lyrics, and we gotta put up the English tracklist.

Be back in about 8 hours.

I think it'd be better to keep basically every post in either of the two FFXII-2 threads aside of entry-specific subjects (like the ones Ramza is posting).

Phonograph -- scans only provide Japanese tracklist. No English equivalents listed.

Indeed, I did. Just thought if we had the tracklist everywhere that'd be good. Sadly we can't list this album as a parent or child ... or can we? Asking other staffers on this. I know we can have separate packaging scans for parent/child... if we wanted to we could just not list the DVD in the tracklist and put it in the notes at the bottom.

EDIT -- and no I'm not done scanning yet. This is one daunting task.

dubble post!

Okay, scans are up. Let me first note what I did not scan.

Within cases for discs 1 through 4, when you unfold them, all you find are

a) a very silhoutted grayscale image of an environmental scene, spread out in a large and unwieldy way (aka my scanner can't handle it).

b) a boilerplate "this belongs to S-E" statement, similar to what you'll find on the "Box Bottom" scan.

So I didn't scan those. However, I did scan the insides of case 5 (the DVD case) since there's some specific language I wanted to pick up, and the inside image was not silhoutte-y crap.

Let's see, what else...

Anyone who wants to do the specific research on music credits (comp/arr/lyrics/perform), look at the last two booklet scans (23-26). You'll find it all there.

Hopefully that's helpful for everyone.

IMO, the main cd release could be a parent, and the cd+dvd release (limited edition) could be child
it's not as if the fact to have the dvd listed in the tracklist is ZE thing the most important (and honestly I galactically don't care --I generally don't submit tracklists that got a dvd, just the cd-only release)

(it's maybe not the place to discuss)

It seems there was a recent edit to the tracklist that changes some things (some substantially).

For example:

Followers of Chaos --> Promised to Chaos
Hope's Theme ~Confessions~ --> Hope's Theme ~Confidence~

Is the old or more recent edit more accurate?

a recent edit? where? on the site? because I see nothing in edit history page
the tracklist added here doesn't seem to have been edited (edit: except the track 4-21)

actually, if I used "Promised to Chaos", it's because the actual meaning of 誓約者 sounds a bit strange
-> Covenantor of Chaos (but it's maybe me --if that doesn't seem that strange, anyone is free to change that)

At the bottom of the tracklist area, it says "Submitted by Phonograph | Latest revision by zero676 on Dec 18, 2011 12:54 AM "

The other soundtrack says the same, but 4 minutes later.

Not sure what the edits contained, but I swore that the tracks I mentioned were not what they are now... I could just be losing my mind!

I am just curious how are we supposed to post & link so much artists ?
(yeah i guess we won't do it, but then we'r not consistent since we got many entries with musicians)...

That's why i am not really favorable to link musicians into the performers field.
There should be a "musicians" field.

Yeah I didn't link any of the performers, there are far too many to be relevant to the album. I added missing lyricists and one vocalist but otherwise I just added the album info section

As per the official site tracklist and credits info:
  • added Origa as vocalist on 2.06, 2.18, 2.19, 3.01
  • 3.08 has no vocals

I reverted your change and added a note, the inserts don't reflect that.

Does anyone else think that the packaging of the limited edition is _highly_ inconvenient?

Yeah, it's really one of the worst packages I've ever seen. Me and the_miker were talking about the same thing.

I wonder why they didn't just keep the design of the XIII limited box: Open the box, huge booklet inside and easy access to the digipack containg the discs. Here it felt like a tedious fiddling contest just to get one disc out of the packaging.

Seriously SQEX, this is not Inception where you want to slow down projections with a labyrinth...
