I have a problem with using Canceled Release
because avex doesn't cancel those releases, they just don't allow them internationally (it's not canceled, it's released)

maybe something like "Unavailable Internationally" or "Only for Japan"

I think "Unavailable Internationally" and "Only for Japan" is a bit too vague. It would potentially cover every release sold exclusively on x store which does not ship overseas (i.e. maybe because they don't have the logistics to do so, or simply think it's not worth it).

It should be a message that implies that retailers are actually banned from shipping it internationally even if they wanted to.

I assume that's what dancey meant with using the same format, of course changing the text (and not changing the album color in search results)

I think something like this would be appropriate:

Feel free to improve on the wording of course.

As for the technical aspect of it, I think showing this on every release linked to avex pictures regardless of type (enclosures are banned as well since you can't buy the bd/dvd they are packaged in) would be enough. As said previously in this thread some shops like Amazon banned other releases as well, but that's not consistent across different shops.

I still don't quite understand the application of this ban, I was able to order https://vgmdb.net/album/73688 (avex classics) through amazon.co.jp and it didn't do any geo-restriction and let me place the order. We'll see if they actually ship it or not. That same album, along with every other avex * album isn't even available on CDJ, though you can tell they still have them in their database because 1) you can see the entry on neowing.co.jp 2) if you search for a banned product, the "similar products" footer still shows things related to it. For example if you search for AVCL-25956 on CDJapan, the footer shows Takayuki Hattori [artist] and Doraemon [series] as things you can subscribe to.

This has got to be the dumbest and most inconsistently applied export ban ever.

Yeah, it's weird. Certain avex classics releases are blocked, but others aren't.

I ordered *all* of the Sanadamaru soundtracks from CDJ, so that makes even less sense.

I think they were released before the ban was announced, so that might be why.

I was just pointing out that the ban isn't even applied consistently to CDs from the same series.
