And finally, scans for this album too. I hope it looks good enough, as this fancy, glossy shiny paper gave me some problem to get it look right.

IMO, one of the best techno/trance works from Koshiro since the Streets of Rage days, with outstanding tracks like Blue Blazes and Ghost in the resonance.
I really can't describe how good this album is. You'll have to listen yourself (and I suggest you to pick it up soon before it sells out and becomes sought after).

I also found myself appreciating this soundtrack really much.

Melodic jp-trance like this isn't too poppy compared to euro-trance à la Tiësto (although some of his work can be appreciable as well).

This has several good tracks. I found myself enjoying the first disc's (WMMT1?) offerings slightly more.

Of course, I still think WMMT3 blows this out of the water, but it's also more of a Euro Trance style than this. If that's not your cup of tea, this one may be better for you.

Is Disc 1 from the first game and Disc 2 from the second game?

I think the whole release is for MT2, dunno why there's MT1

edit: ah, official site says there is MT1, I guess tracklist with Maxi1 and Maxi2 is meant to both games

I'm pretty sure Namorbia's correct, hence the Maxi1/2 versions on the respective discs.

I always assumed that was the case as well. Especially since the first game didn't appear to have gotten a soundtrack release.

I'm pretty sure that is the case as well. The tunes with Maxi1, 2, 3, 4 throughout the series definitely seem to follow the pattern of what game its from.

Disc 2 is so much better than disc 1, which is pretty bad. How would you rate the whole album? (1.5 stars + 3.5 stars) / 2 = 2.5 stars?

Disc 1 doesn't have any cringeworthy vocal trance on it!!

I think Disc 2 may overall be better but the best tracks on Disc 1 ('Beyond the Horizon', 'Acid Runner', and 'Blue Blazes') are better than anything on Disc 2.

Here's how I rate the tracks right now.

I prefer the sound of Disc 2 to Disc 1. Usually I don't care much about trance/techno and I can't think of anything else than Wangan that I would enjoy in that genre. So in that respect Yuzo Koshiro did a great job!

If you want half stars you can download an iTunes script for it. Rating got a lot easier for me once I downloaded it. Highly recommended!

Love this! Was a big fan of euro trance when I was a child, but the genre has pretty much died down nowadays, feels embarrassingly cheesy and has added tons of shit-pop-vocals.

Yuzo Kozhiro is the king!

actually I would say the style of electronic music represented here is Japanese Hard Trance. ironically what you said about cheesy vocals can be applied here as well haha. I still like this album though, but it's not as good as the first time I heard it.
