Just for curiosity, why the original japanese name was removed below the display name?

Because he's never credited by it (to my knowledge.)

The problem with it is the way language display currently works. Presently using 'original' displays the unicode name, going by the assumption that someone with a Japanese name will be credited in kanji form. This, however, is not the case for artists like Minoshima where they are most often credited by their romanized name. There's presently no way around this (besides not filling in the unicode name or making another artist entry without it which would just be silly.)

The current practice is to put that name in the biography instead.

Then enter it as a name variation or link him on that album with that name as an alias. Either one is better than setting it as the unicode name.

Good idea, I think this is the solution. I'll put "箕島マサヨシ" as variation.

Changed 箕島 to 簑島 per Facebook and Twitter.
