Default WipEout XL Original Soundtrack (VJCP-25274)

Hi,

Congratulations on the great site and breaking the 7243 album barrier. I was updating my "My Collection" page when I noticed the WipEout XL Original Soundtrack (VJCP-25274) in the database has a different cover than the one I own. Mine says WipEout 2097 on the cover (and WhipEout XL) on the spine, but the cover scan in the database says WhipEout XL. I uploaded a scan from my own cover just now and made it the default image. I wonder though, if there are different covers for the album.

Wikipedia tells me the game is supposed to be called WhipEout 2097 in Europe only. Furthermore the booklet is mostly English, but contains a fold-out poster-like insert in Japanese. Anyway, I didn't want to delete the existing image without asking whether anyone knows if different versions of this soundtrack (besides the US one) exist. Maybe lockshaw13 (who added the image) can clarify things?

edit..: after thinking about it, i wonder if there is this album did not get 3 different releases?
1 for Japan, 1 for the US, and 1 for the UK/Europe.

[VJCP-25274] should be the Japanese one, called Wipeout XL (and the actual covers are not the good ones)
[ASW-6189] is the US release, this ones seems OK

so we are missing the european release in the database "Wipeout 2097", catalog number should be CDV 2815.

A mod could re-up the XL cover i deleted please ?

I didn't notice this thread, but I was working on fixing this issue up. Since .59 already put it in his sale list, I changed the existing album to the British printing, and added a new Japanese one.

Shouldn't this Vinyl one also be an additional printing?

It should be..

The matter is i don't know how do you modify "reprints' number of discs"..
Since there is 2 vinyls and not 1

This site http://www.suruga-ya.jp/database/120031779001.html also lists the Japanese version of the Soundtrack (VJCP-25274) with the 2097 cover. I assume the Japanese version was a repackaging of the European version, hence the confusing names (2097 on the cover and CD and XL on the spine/insert). To further add to the confusion, on the Japanese insert it actually says:

WIPEOUT 2097
ワイプアウトXL オリジナルサウンドトラック

On the CD it says: WIPEOUT 2097: THE SOUNDTRACK. SEE INLAY FOR TRACK:LIST

Maybe it should be best to enter it as "WipEout XL Original Soundtrack / WhipEout 2097 THE SOUNDTRACK" or vice versa?

In any case, I'll replace the XL cover currently up for VJCP-25274 with the 2097 one, as that does seem to be the only one the Japanese version comes in.

Those Japanese 2097 covers are probably placeholder..
Note that i am not 100% sure about it.. seems like there are only "japanese 2097" covers to be found on YJA.

site note: i entered V-2815 for the vinyls catalog since the full one could not enter... "7243 8 4226 7 1 V-2815"

Ah, I was wondering why my album's catalog number had suddenly changed. I changed it back to the Japanese one so everything should be fine now. There seemed to be something wrong with my previous post also, as I could only see half of it (I edited it without changing anything and it shows all of the text now... weird). I'll add some info in the notes of VJCP-25274 to avoid confusion. That only leaves the XL cover for the album to be deleted then. I already re-upped the 2097 one.

I don't think we've had a case where a reprint has more 'discs', so I'll have to think about what to change to make it work out.

Considering that the 2-vinyl version has a different track order, should it qualify as a child album?

I'm not sure. That's not something that I've thought about before. My gut reaction would be 'probably not', but we'll have to think about it.

Yeah that's a matter..

And i had this problem in the past with the Vinyl version of Rollcage II.

I currently cataloged it as a child album.. but in fact the tracklist/discs does not correspond to the real thing.

There is also a 3 vinyls version for Wipeout - The Music..
I am not adding it for now as we got this problem.

I'd probably go ahead and add it, as I think that for now, we're just going to list tracklist rearrangements as separate albums.
