I honestly don't hear much of a difference between Tales and Star Ocean. The music is completly interchangeable for me. Dark Souls is different, I give him that, but it's nothing I would hear out of context and also nothing I would like to see in Eiyuden.
The last soundtrack by him that I enjoyed was back in 2012, for Labyrinth no Kanata. Absolutely nothing since then. IMO he's miscast for this project. |

Well, I wouldn't say he is miscast. I mean, Naruke and him worked together for Telenet in the early 90s, so this makes another reunion after several years, same as for Murayama and Kawano after 25 years or so. Maybe that's one of the reason with this "nostalgic factor".
Personally, I enjoy both his Tales and Star Ocean soundtracks, but I think where he shines are soundtracks where he collaborates with other artists, like the Dark Souls series or Tales of Zestiria. He is a kind of allrounder and known by many gamers I guess. Also, don't forget we have Mariam Abounnasr on board to bring some Celtic / Ethnic vibes to the soundtrack (hopefully) ^_^ |

Ends on December 6, 2020. My comment: The first one was simply amazing. I am sure this one will be as well. |
