The dialog on this drama cd was completely translated (from transcriptions originally posted here) by Johnny Undaunted and posted on the Junker HQ forums.

In order to help secure posterity I'll post everything here as well. There are some spelling mistakes here and there, but it's nothing that should detract you from being able to appreciate the story.

Mission 1: Meryl

Act 1:
Mission 1: Meryl
Act 1

Scene 1: Recon Plane Interior

A new type of aircraft is flying over the dark nightsky.

Captain:
"This is reconnaissance plane Angel-One. Air command, do you copy?
We're presently flying over sector 3 of the Basra Republic airspace.
We found nothing suspicious during our night patrol. Returning to base!"

Controller:
"Acknowledge! Commence flying over hostile airspace. Use the Beltaicor route."

Captain:
"Roger, over!"
"Did you hear that? Set the rear system to Beltaicor."

Co-pilot:
"Yeah-yeah, I know. What's the deal with these night recons?
Isn't this a ceasefire-zone anyway? Why did we even bring that gung-ho freak with us?"

Captain:
"Be quiet. You will piss our guest."

The door to the cockpit swings.

Captain:
"Ah, we were just talking about you, Meryl."

Meryl:
"I overheard everything. What's this about not needing me? "

Co-Pilot:
"S-sorry!"

Captain:
"I told you so."

Meryl:
"It's alright, I'm bored anyway. What's my orders?"

The sound of a lock-on warning is heard.

Meryl:
"What the...?"

Captain:
"It's the radar signal! Incoming targeted!"

Meryl:
"It seems that their anti-aircraft radar has been set to not recognize us. They're violating UN resolution."

Captain:
"We're the armistice patrol unit sent by the UN Peacekeeping force.
Your actions are a clear violation of UN resolution."

The warning sound of a missile discharge is heard.

Co-Pilot:
"Those fools are affirming their missile discharge!? It's coming!!"

Meryl:
"You got to be kidding."

Captain:
"Switching to manual operation. Meryl, return to your seat, quickly!"

Meryl:
"Affirmitive."

Captain:
"What's its course?"

Co-pilot:
"Incoming at Six o'clock. Preparing to launch decoy."

Captain:
"Decoy launched. Rotating rapidly to the right."

Co-Pilot:
"We avoided it! There's a second one coming."

Captain:
"Persistent bastards. We've sent our decoy, what should we do now?"

Co-Pilot:
"It's no use, it's approaching us."

Captain:
"Those assholes."

The captain quickly grabs the transceiver in his hands.

Captain:
"Mayday! Mayday! This is Angel-One, we're being targeted by enemy missiles..."

The recon aircraft is strucked by the missile.

Captain:
"Arggh!"

Scene 2: Beginning rescue operation.

Campbell:
"As I've explained, your mission objective is to retrieve the luggage from the
crashed fuselage and then return home to safety. We're receiving electric signals
from the nanomachines implanted into Meryl and others. Don't worry, they're safe."

Snake:
"Aren't they inside the enemy's sphere of influence."

Campbell:
"Correct. That's why you were summoned."

Snake:
"If you have the time, can you explain how I'm going to do this?
That fuselage was installed with state-of-the-art electronic warfare equipment and
yet it got so easily taken out by an anti-aircraft missile."

Campbell:
"The electronic equipment is insured. You will be inside a cargo heli,
which is loaded with a high-speed attack buggy in case that's too conspicious.

Snake:
"And when it's time to leave?"

Campbell:
"I'll be waiting at the end of the ceasefire line with provisions in case of an unlikely event."

Snake:
"Sounds way too easy."

Snake takes out his zippo lighter and ignites a cigarette.

Campbell:
"Snake, smoking is prohibited inside the plane."

Snake:
"Huh"
Inhales cigarette.
"This ain't hard stuff Colonel, by any chance do I have backup for this mission?"

Campbell:
"This mission is a search and rescue operation by the United Nation, so don't think about it?
A partner has already been assigned to go with you."

Snake:
"Surely he must have the skills."

Campbell:
"The guy is a member of Delta Force, the army's strongest counter-terrorism unit, they're every bit as good as FOXHOUND."

Snake:
"The army's strongest counter-terrorism unit? That guy?
Look at him! Not long ago, he was sitting on the floor messing with his guns. You mean that gun-geek?"

Campbell:
"That's right. I heard that he was disgusted by your collection of cigarette butts discovered by the crew."

Snake:
"I see. I have one last question."

Campbell:
"What is it?"

Snake:
"Why is Meryl there?"

Campbell:
"I thought you would never ask."

Snake:
"Colonel, tell me."

Campbell:
"I understand. Since our friendship has stopped being a secret.
Meryl has changed...ever since she came back after the Shadow Moses island incident."

Snake:
"Meryl's..."

Campbell:
"That's right. She started volunteering for dangerous missions.
Strictly confidential operations in which the chances for a safe return are no less than 10%."

Snake:
"Did she ever gave you a reason?"

Campbell:
"I must admit I always felt your shadow on her."

Snake:
"Shadow?"

Campbell:
"Meryl is pursuing you, trying to approach you.
I became fearful of whatever harm might come to the child I raised and cared for,
so I transferred her to the UN forces due to the fewer risks involved."

Snake:
"You don't say. So now you're reinstated as an observer for the UN."
Huh. (*sigh)
"Is that the exact reason why I'm the most trusted man for this job."

Campbell:
"Are you angry?"

Snake:
"Huh-huh! Don't you worry as usual Colonel.
Meryl has soldier's blood flowing in her veins,
she won't die so easily.
Shouldn't you be the one to understand that the most?"

Campbell:
"Soldier's blood? Don't you mean..."

Snake:
"Let's end this chat, I'm gonna look for that geek."

Allen:
"25, 26, and 27. Perfect! I cannot load it to it's full capacity of 30 rounds
since the loading would become poor. The Soviet's AKM Assault Rifle. It moves
excellently even when it's covered in mud. It also prevents exposing an American
soldiers with it's gunshots when it's used by one."

Snake:
"Hey you. Aren't you that gun-maniac, Sgt. Allen Iishiba?

Allen:
"Hi, Snake! Did you finish your date with Campbell?"

Snake:
"Why you!"

Allen:
"What are you bringing with you? An AKM like me?"

Snake:
"I'm not so lucky, this is mine unfortunately."

Allen:
"A SOCOM pistol? The custom handgun for the special operations command.
And your assault rifle...?"

Snake:
"I don't have one."

Allen:
"Really?"

Snake:
"It's the only thing I need to take out enemies."

Campbell:
"Playtime is over! Both of you, get into the buggy, we're preparing launch preperations."

Allen:
"I'm coming, I'm coming."

Snake:
"Have your machine-gun ready! We'll be exposed to danger the moment we land."

Campbell (over intercom):
"Do you copy? We're secured at an altitude of 50 feet, now opening hatch."

Allen:
"Look, it's pitch-black outside! We need our infrared goggles."

Snake:
"Wheel-fastening equipment released.

Campbell:
"Prepare to land."

Snake:
"Incoming fire."

The sound of a lock-on warning is heard.

Allen:
"What the...?"

Campbell:
"You've been targeted by anti-aircraft missiles. Abort the rescue operation. Return now!"

Snake:
"Negative, Colonel! We're already outside!!"

Campbell:
"Retreat! That's an order! Hey, Respond! Snake! SNAKE!"

Act 2:
Mission 1: Meryl
Act 2

During an intense cold.

Co-Pilot:
"Ugh...huf, huf....it's useless...Captain, let me rest please..."

Captain:
"Are you alright?"

Co-Pilot:
"When we escaped...m-my ankle..."

Captain:
"Let me take a look."

Meryl:
"It's no good, stand-up. What are we gonna do when the enemy catches up to us?

Captain:
"He has injury. It has swollen-up and turned purple. He can't walk this way, let's take a break."

Mery:
"But..."

Captain:
"He is my subordinate, I can't just leave him."

Co-Pilot:
"Arghhhhhhh!"

Meryl:
"I see. I'll give you five minutes. After that, I'm no longer waiting."

Captain:
"Whew. You have my gratitude, Meryl."

Co-Pilot:
"Huf, huf."

Captain:
"How far are we from the recovery site?"

Meryl:
"If we head straight, it's 5km. We should arrive there in an hour."

Co-Pilot:
"Just...Another hour...here..."

Meryl:
"Just hold on for a bit. They're just gonna keep looking for us until we cross the ceasefire-line.
Keep yourself together until them."

Captain:
"Let's go."

Co-Pilot:
"Argh!"

Meryl:
"I'll go ahead then. You two go later."

Elsewhere

Allen:
"Whoa! It's chilling here. I'm freezing to death."

Snake:
"Do you hate the cold?"

Allen:
"I grew up in Hawaii, where it's always summer. My folks didn't like cold weathers.
Is this actually a desert?"

Snake:
"Who said it has to be hot in a desert? We're pretty much 300m above sea.
The temperature difference between night and day are above 40 degrees."

Allen:
"Well, it feels like we're on Mars here."

Snake:
"Heh-heh. And you figure this out now? You're too slow."

Allen:
"Can you please stop with the jokes!? Why aren't you freezing anyway?"

Snake:
"My home is in Alaska, I'm used to this kind of weather.
You should pay more attention to our surroundings!"

Allen:
"You mean enemies? This cold is my only enemy here!!"

Snake:
"Your sure don't know how to shut up."

Allen:
"I won't calm down until I cooled-off!!
Gah! I need to be calm here!!
Do you want a drink? I have coffee."

Snake:
"Are you planning a picnic here?"

Allen:
"No one will see us.
Puf. Puf. Gulp. Gulp. Ah!
I feel warmer. You sure you don't wanna drink?

Snake:
"No thanks. We can't take too much moisture."

Allen:
"I see...What a shame...
Is your duty the only thing in your mind during these kind of things?"

Snake:
"What?"

Allen:
"Uh, nevermind. We barely started this mission and I already want to leave here.
Do you like going into battlefields?"

Snake:
"I had no intentions of being here, I'm just following Colonel's orders."

Allen:
"You must say that often. You were involved in the Outer Heaven Crisis of '95,
the Zanzibar Land disturbance in '99 and now the Shadow Moses takeover incident.
You're a legendary hero. I feel a guy like you has to motivated by something
more than orders."

Snake:
"There are no heroes in the battlefield and I don't like being there either."

Allen:
"That can apply to anyone. I heard various other things from Colonel Campbell.
There's something between you and Meryl."

Snake:
"Damn Colonel...Any other piece of insignificant trivia you know..."

Allen:
"Nothing like that, take a look at this. This is Helena, a childhood friend
of mine. She's quite self-centered. That's me pictured on the right."

Snake:
"Why are you telling me this?"

Allen:
"The relationship between you and Meryl is very similar to ours."

Snake:
"What do you mean by that?"

Allen:
"It's an undesireable, but inseperable relationship. It's good, but very uneasy.
Which reminds of another thing I heard."

Snake:
"What is it this time?"

Allen:
"I'm planning on taking the next selection test. The Colonel convinced me to."

Snake:
"You mean FOXHOUND?"

Allen:
"That's right. Will...you teach me about FOXHOUND?"

Snake:
"You must fill a written application for enlistment."

Allen:
"I want to hear an opinion of the site, all the neccesary info I can get on the spot at the training camp."

A female voice is suddenly comes from the wireless radio.

Meryl:
"Anyone there? Hey? Where are you?"

Alan:
"What? What is it?"

Meryl:
"Do you copy? Respond!"

Snake:
"Ah! It's Meryl!"

Alan:
"Meryl? You don't say."

Snake:
"Meryl Silverburgh, she's the one we've been sent to pick up along with the luggage."

Snake dials into her frequency and respond.

Snake:
"Meryl, respond!"

Meryl:
"Snake? What are you doing here?"

Snake:
"I'll explain later."

Meryl:
"Let me guess, you were sent by my uncle? He's so predictable!"

Snake:
"Enough talk! We're being intercepted by the enemy."

Meryl:
"Where do we meet? Anyplace where we won't get struck by a missile?
I jusr spoiled a brand-new Sneaking Suit..."

Allen:
"Sneaking Suit?

Snake:
"It's a uniform made of state of the art technology.
You will get to wear one if you join FOXHOUND, although you'll find them uncomfortable."

Meryl:
"What are you grumbling about, Snake? You're not alone, are you?
Who's with you?"

Allen:
"I-I'm Sgt. Allen Iishiba. I came to rescue you too.
Member of Delta Force, platoon commander of Bravo company..."

Meryl:
"The hell...What's a man like you doing in an counter-terrorist task force?"

Allen:
"You're mean! Why is everyone in such a pissy mood? Snake, talk to her!"

Snake:
Right! You trace Meryl's position!"

Allen:
"Alright! She's sure a mean-spirited woman...just like Helena."

Snake:
"Is the crew with you?"

Meryl:
"I don't know...I went ahead, but when I turned back..."

Snake:
"Did you lose sight?"

Meryl:
"I was moving straight ahead!? I thought about going back!?"

Snake:
"But how? Allen, sent a cryptogram to the Colonel, we lost two pieces of the luggage."

Allen:
"Right away!"

Allen sends a cryptogram to Colonel Campbell.

Meryl:
"Snake...I'll be surveilling for the vicinity."

Snake:
"Don't!! Head for the recovery site instead."

Meryl:
"Don't worry! I brought along my Desert Eagle."

Snake:
"It's still dangerous."

Meryl:
"Have you forgotten? Wielding this gun is like wearing a bra to me...
Wha...Snake, wait!"

The radio signal weakens and only static can be heard.

Snake:
"What is it? Meryl, respond!"

Allen:
"Snake, look at the monitor! The magnetic field is getting rough!"

Snake:
"A jamming wave?"

Allen:
"It's not that...Take another look. It's only part of the radar...
If it was a jamming wave, then the entire screen shouldn't be functioning."

Snake:
"What does it mean?"

Allen:
"I don't know either...Nevertheless, it's functioning irregularly..."

Snake:
"Damn, get your gun ready!....What's that?"

Allen:
"Did you hear something....? What the? Look, over there!"

Snake:
"The sky... it's darkening..."

Allen:
"What the hell is happening...?"

Snake:
"Watch out! It's coming! Run away!"

Act 3:
Mission 1: Meryl
Act 3

Scene 1: The Recovery.

Snake:
"Are you alright?"

Allen:
"Ah, somehow I have my whole body covered in sand here, my mouth is even full of it.
Cough. Cough. We're lucky we weren't swallowed by that sandstorm there.
What a mess... Our equipment has been blown away."

Meryl talks from the wireless radio.

Meryl:
"Snake? Do you copy?"

Snake:
"Loud and clear. Is everything alright?"

Meryl:
"I can you guys and the car, I'll be with you in a while."

Snake:
"Really?"

Allen:
"That's odd! We hid our buggy under a ravine.
Becareful not to be discovered."

Meryl:
"Huh!"

The sound of a gunshot is heard.

Meryl:
"What? Something's happening!"

Snake:
"It's the enemy! Withdraw now!"

A couple more gunshots are fired.

Meryl:
"Shit!"

Snake:
"You must get away from there! Leave there at once!!"

Meryl:
"This is a piece of a cake!"
Bang Bang (sfx)
Meryl:
"I can take care of myself."

Snake:
"Meryl! Stop!!"

Meryl:
"I'll finish this all by myself, you'll see!!"
I'll just take out the safety pin and pull the lever...
1...2...it ends here!"

The grenade Meryl threw explodes!

Meryl:
"I did it!"

A gunshot is heard.

Meryl:
"Gyah! Ah, my right leg!
I've screwed-up!? Why did this happened to me?"

Meryl shoots back with her Desert Eagle.

Meryl:
"Out of ammo! What? No spare bullets? Must've lost them during the sandstorm...
But I don't need a gun...I'll take them out with my knife!!
Nobody has defeated me yet in close-quarter combat!!!!"

Meryl:
"Cough! What the?"

Snake:
"H-hold yourself! It's me!!"

Meryl:
"Snake?"

Snake:
"We came for the buggy!"

Snake:
"You're reckless! You lost your crew and you almost felled into an enemy's trap!"

Meryl:
"You look almost dead."

Snake:
"It's just the rust that came out from my body."

Meryl:
"Snake? Do you have any hemostat?
I lost my emergency kit in that sandstorm."

Snake:
"I have one in the backseat, Allen will get it for you."

Meryl:
"Allen?"

Allen:
"Sgt. Allen Iishiba of Counter-Terrorism task force Delta.
Pleased to meet you!"

Meryl:
"Oh yeah! I remember! You're that annoying guy I've talked
with awhie ago in the wireless radio."

Allen:
"You're not too grateful... Here's the hemostat.
I don't like you at all."

Snake:
"Heh-heh. Meryl, don't bully him too much.
He will be your senior after all."

Meryl:
"You're kidding? You in FOXHOUND?
You're not fit for them."

Allen:
"You're the last person who should say that, considering
you almost made a blunder and mistook an ally for an enemy."

Meryl:
"Huh! You wanna make look like a fool?"

The sound of a lock-on warning is heard.

Snake:
"Oh no!"

Allen:
We've been locked-on...Are they gonna shoot a guided missile?"

Meryl:
"Incoming fire!"

Allen:
"Calm down! We can shake off the launch speed of the missile
with a slow decoy."

Allen pushes the decoy launch button, but only an error sound is made.

Allen:
"Dammit! Move!"

Allen keeps hitting the button, but the annoying error sound can still be heard.

Snake:
"What is it?"

Allen:
"No good! It must had short-circuited because of the sandstorm!!"

Meryl:
"Good-for-nothing..."

Allen:
"Quiet! I don't want to hear your complaints!!"

Meryl:
"What should we do, Snake?"

Snake:
"Nothing, excepting jumping out!!"

Allen:
"You're serious?"

Meryl:
"But I'm already injured..."

Snake:
"We'll be fine if we hit the dust.
We don't have any choice. Hurry!"

The buggy is strucked by a missile.

Allen:
"So much for that."

Snake:
"Run, quickly!!"

Snake and his crew are shot at by gunfire.

Snake:
"Over here! We take cover under this rock!"

Allen:
"We should be safe here for awhile."

A missile strikes the rock.

Allen:
"Spoke too soon! Dammit! What should we do, Snake?
A tunnel rat! That means daylight is only an hour
away, we'll be fully visible then."

The noise of a helicopter's rotor blade is heard.

Allen:
"Oh great, and now this helicopter gunship arrives...
looks like this is the end..."

The helicopter begins firing and bullets sticks to the ground.

Snake:
"An ally?"

Campbell:
"What are you waiting for? Hurry up and get aboard!!"

Snake:
"Colonel!"

Campbell:
"We decided for a full-frontal attack on the missile base.
Courtesy of the President. Lower your head!
We're leaving Napalm at the Nighsky!"

The Napalm explodes on the ground.

Campbell:
"We've landed! Get aboard in ten seconds!!"

Snake:
"Take cover! I'll lead to the copter."

Allen:
"Understood."

Bullets flies towards Meryl.

Meryl:
"Argh!"

Allen:
"Are you alright?"

Meryl:
"My leg...it's bleeding again..."

The gunfire refuses to stop.

Snake:
"Get aboard, quickly!"

Allen:
"Snake! Meryl's..."

Meryl:
"Go on! Forget about me!"

Allen:
"I won't!"

Meryl:
"What do you think you're doing? Leave me behind!"

Allen:
"When I see you, I get angry. You remind too much of Helena!
Be quiet and let me carry you!"

Allen is struck directly by a bullet.

Allen:
"Urgh!"

The Helicopter takes off with Snake, Meryl and Allen.

Scene 2: Return

Snake:
"Like I expected, there are no heroes in the battlefield."

Allen:
"What...I was...just warming....up...
The selection test...was it easy?"

Meryl:
"This is my fault..."

Allen:
"If this injury...doesn't heal soon...
I guess it will...be bothersome...
for the test, will it...colonel?"

Campbell:
"Allen! Hold still! We just recovered the other part
of the luggage safely. Your duty is complete."

Allen:
"So...they're...alright? Snake...am I ready...
for FOXHOUND? Can...I...still fight?"

Snake:
"I think you can. Right, Colonel?"

Campbell:
"That's alright. You're already a member of FOXHOUND as
allowed by my authority."

Allen:
"Is that...t-true? Colonel? Give, the news to Helena...to
Helena..."

Meryl:
"Helena?"

Snake:
"Allen's childhood friend."

Allen:
"She'll be happy...to hear the news...
at far I have come..."

The place becomes completely silent for a few seconds.

Meryl:
"Allen? Wake up, Allen! Please.
This isn't happening. Hey!
Open your eyes!!"

Snake:
"Meryl...he can't wake up...he's sleeping quietly now."

Meryl:
"Noooo! Why did this had to happen? Why??????"

End of Mission 1.

Mission 2: Mei Ling

Act 1:
Mission 2: Mei-Ling
Act 1

Scene: Conference Room

Mei-Ling:
"This is an image from military spy satellite Shadow Five.
This was taken at an inclanation of 97 degrees at an altitude of 300km above sky-level.
It's possible with the embarked high-performance camera to remodel the image at
30cm width-level."

Schultz:
"Mei-Ling! Enough with the technical explanations! Get to the point, already!
I have a dinner to attend after this!"

Mei-Ling:
"Please, wait! Take a look, there's several pipes projecting from the building's walls!
And at the end of this pipe, there's a storage tank..."

Schultz:
"It could just be any building! Colonel Campbell!
You better not be wasting my precious time reporting this..."

Campbell:
"General, let her finish. This is an important security issue here."

Mei-Ling:
"Take a look at the next picture.
This is a different image taken of the same location.
We analyze the data from NASA's global warming surveillance
program, there seems to be some discoloration in the vegetation
of certain areas."

Schultz:
"So what's your point?"

Mei-Ling:
"This image was taken a month ago...This one was from two weeks ago...And this is from yesterday...
This last one was only taken awhile ago."

Schultz:
"And your conclusion is?"

Mei-Ling:
"We suspect that they're producing chemical weapons inside...The factory has been leaking chemicals
and it's now polluting the plants."

Schultz:
"Where is this factory located?"

Mei-Ling:
"It's in the Republic of Sanchago at the Caribbean.
They're a neo-communist state and their powers has been newly-extended."

Schultz:
"Communist you say? It's nothing but leftovers from the 20th century...
They're such a small country anyway."

Mei-Ling:
"B-but..."

Schultz:
"Besides, with all this data alone. You cannot prove it's a chemical weapons factory."

Schultz's phone begans ringing.

Schultz:
"This is Schultz. Uh-huh. Uh-huh. I'll be there at once."

Mei-Ling:
"General! You must sent a recon unit at once!
They're only at a 600km distance from the Florida peninsula."

Schultz:
"Why? You seem scared!"

Mei-Ling:
"They could easily put chemical weapons into a tactical missile and fire it into
Florida in their range...Especially with a Metal Gear..."

Schultz:
"A Metal Gear? Is that what you wanted to say?
You only want to recapture the same fame you had during Shadow Moses."

Mei-Ling:
"General!"

Schultz:
"I'll be going now, please don't bother me again!"

Schultz leaves the conference room.

Mei-Ling:
"Colonel..."

Campbell:
"I knew this wouldn't do us good...We can't rely on official support."

Scene: Shooting Range

Snake:
"Meil-Ling! Who taught you how to shoot like that?"

Mei-Ling:
"From the ROTC Program.
Their training method teaches how to take out enemies effectively without wasting a bullet."

Snake:
"Lend me your gun!"

Snake replaces the magazine of the gun.

Mei-Ling:
"Wait, Snake!"

Snake:
"You're ready? Observe!"

Snake shoots until no bullets remain.

Snake:
"Take out you're enemies until they fall."

Mei-Ling:
"As they said, Snake!
'There is no time to close eyes when lightning flashes.'
'There is no time to cover ears when thunder strikes.'"

Snake:
"Was that another Chinese proverb?"

Mei-Ling:
"It means that if a thunder suddenly strikes, you don't really have time to cover your ears or close your eyes.
In other words, I guess it means you should take out enemies at lightning speed without hesistation."

A jeep approaches suddenly.

Mei-Ling:
"Ah, Colonel!"

Campbell:
"Mei-Ling, are you set?"

Mei-Ling:
"Yes. I bought some drinks in case we might get thristy."

Campbell:
"How did she perform?"

Snake:
"Can't you tell by my face. Huh"
sigh
"She's too dangerous for me to tell."

Campbell:
"She supposedly excelled in her university's ROTC program."

Snake:
"Which university was that?

Campbell:
"In MIT. Nobody equalled her in data and image processing."

Snake:
"Well that's arguable now.
Anyway, do you think there's really a chemical weapons plant in Sanchago?"

Campbell:
"Take a look at this picture and Mei-Ling's discovery?"

Snake:
"I see it now...
But why doesn't Mei-Ling negotiate with them again?"

Campbell:
"We did. But the information bureau rejected Mei-Ling's analysis unfortunately."

Snake:
"Which is why you're sending her secretly? Why you made me train her?
But why not use FOXHOUND?"

Campbell:
"After the Shadow Moses incident, they've been marked for surveillance.
They can't be deployed, which why I have no other choice than to sent her."

Snake:
"Why is Mei-Ling is so concerned about this?"

Campbell:
"This is a collection of soil sample.
The production of chemical weapons usually generates a special kind of substance."

Snake:
"Do you want to obtain something from the polluted soil?
Is that all there is, have someone sneak up there, get a shovel
and bring a piece of dirt, sounds like a picnic to me..."

Campbell:
"Yes, but it also important to inspect the locale throughly for more accuracy..."

Snake:
"That's ridiculous."

Campbell:
"Don't look at me, I'm not from MIT!
I was told of this by Mei-Ling."

Snake:
"In that case, you might sent someone else with her."

Campbell:
"Well, the truth is, I was gonna ask if you accompany her?
Do you think it's such a picnic now?

Snake:
"Colonel. Well, I never!"

Scene: Infiltration

Campbell:
"This is the latest weather data."

Snake:
"Guess I've shouldn't have eaten too much."

Campbell:
"Careful, there is no one else you can depend on besides me."

Snake:
"Even the most charming old guys are grumpy."

Campbell:
"Ha ha ha!"

Snake:
"There is a huge storm near the sea, six feets of high seas and a strong wind of 30 knots."

Campbell:
"The enemy's radar won't detect you if you hide within the high seas."

Snake:
"Not the perfect condition for an infiltration."

Campbell:
"Mei-Ling?"

Snake:
"This is her first voyage. She can't stay put in one place."

Campbell:
"Mei-Ling, are you alright?"

Mei-Ling:
"Uh-huh. What do you want?"

The inboard phone rings.

Campbell:
"It's Campbell... Roger!
You two, get into the hydraulic pressure chamber.
Commencing operation."

Snake (over radio):
"Colonel, preperations completed!
Commencing flooding!"

Campbell (over radio):
"Understood, I'll leave everything to you now."

Snake:
"Mei-Ling? It's not too late to go back."

Mei-Ling:
"Do you think anyone gonna quit after going through all of this?"

Snake:
"Heh. Confident words, aren't they?
Our eardrums will be damaged abit during surface, so we'll be rising slowly.
That will get rid of the blood stains."

Mei-Ling:
"I understand."

Snake:
"Good, we're approaching the maritime."

Act 2:
Mission 2: Mei-Ling
Act 2

Snake and Mei Ling has surfaced safely from the seas and are now moving towards land.

Snake:
"Hurry! Hide the rubber board to those bushes!

Mei Ling:
"Okay."

Snake:
"Alright, it's safe... We can never be too careful around here.
I'll report the current situation to the Colonel."

Mei Ling:
"I see. Snake, don't forget to use burst transmission!"

Snake:
"Burst tranmission? So that the enemy won't eavesdrop on our conversation, right?
That's why your our communications expert. Nothing gets by you."

Snake dials a frequency and pushes a button on his transceiver.

Snake:
"Colonel, respond! It's Snake."

Campbell (over radio):
"I'm here. We detected the signals of your nanomachines.
It seems that you managed to have a safe infiltration."

Snake:
"Somehow we did.
Our objective is located approximately 20km northeast on a straight line,
am I correct?"

Campbell (vo):
"Correct. Advance along the mountains. Don't use the main road, there
are land mines buried in that area! It's dangerous."

Snake:
"So we'll be passing from mountain to mountain?"

Campbell:
"Is it a steep jungle? Can you get through?"

Snake:
"I'll get used to it...having to hear Mei Ling that is."

Campbell (vo):
"Keep in mind that you have to rely on each other."

Snake:
"I still can't understand that.
Was there really a reason to sent Mei Ling along?
She didn't bring any neccesities herself, nor does she know how to spill blood like I do."

Campbell (vo):
"She's neccesary by all means."

Snake:
"This is a battlefield! Failure is not an option!"

Campbell (vo):
"So? Don't be so boastful.
I remember very well that you had the same young face as Mei Ling while you were in training."

Snake:
"This isn't time to be reminiscing. Talk to you later."

Snake:
"Okay. Leave our equipment here. We will spent the night here and search for our soil sample
tomorrow."

Mei Ling:
"Huf...huf..."

Snake sprays insecticide all over his body.

Snake:
"Use this. It'll last for twelve hours."

Mei Ling:
"Insecti...are you serious, Snake?
Are we gonna sleep here? In a jungle?"

Snake:
"Yep. This is how we operate in my world. You can go back if it's unpleasant."

Mei Ling:
"Huf...you're stubborn...I'll do as you say...
huf...so...tired."

Snake:
"Hey! Don't sit directly over the ground! You'll die."

Mei Ling:
"What?"

Snake:
"That's a venomous snake's habitat. And there's a tarantula in there too.
They can kill and eat an elephant by themselves, as well as army ants."

Mei Ling:
"That's quite a welcoming, Snake."

Snake:
"Huh-huh. Don't say foolishness. Stand up."

Mei Ling:
"Hey, that hurts. What should I do then?"

Snake:
"
You use something like this!
It's a hammock, you don't have to worry about getting bitten."

Mei Ling:
"Thanks."

Snake:
"Don't misunderstand me. This one's mine!"

Mei Ling:
"Ah, Snake. You couldn't be that cruel?
Please!"

Snake:
"...you're right. We'll both sleep in it then."

The morning arrives. Snake pours a cup of coffee.

Mei Ling:
"Uh. Ah, Snake? What are you doing?"

Snake:
"You're finally awake! Have some coffee!"

Mei Ling:
"Thanks."

Snake:
"It's strong black. That should wake you."

Mei Ling:
"Hmmm, tasty. It's so quiet.
It's still pitch-black. What time is it?"

Snake:
"It's 3:00 AM. The birds and beasts are all asleep."

Mei Ling:
"3:00 AM? It's still a bit early."

Snake:
"One must straightly prepare himself for action before morning dawns.
That's a basic. Didn't you learn that from ROTC?

Mei Ling:
"Huh".

Snake:
"Didn't you train for the army?"

Mei Ling:
"No, it was for the Air Force."

Snake:
"Air Force?"

Mei Ling:
"I...used to be a pilot candidate."

Snake:
"A pilot? As in a fighter pilot!?"

Mei Ling:
"Nothing like that, Snake... I don't want to kill people...it was my dream to fly over the skies...
When I was a kid, I would leap down from a tree, believing that I could really fly."

Snake:
"I see. So what happened?"

Mei Ling:
"My eyesight was insufficient...I've inherit it from my parents."

Snake:
"Inherited?"

Mei Ling:
"I still didn't give up...I cheated on my selection test with my contacts...
But...my contacts felled off during flight training and I failed to land...
The following day, I've packed my luggage and said my goodbyes."

Snake:
"And your current work?"

Mei Ling:
"I've already specialized myself in intelligence analysis and data processing, if I recall correctly...
Even if it seemed far-fetched, I thought I could still fly over the skies as one of the flight crew."

Snake:
"You might get a request to cooperate with the CIA and DIA someday."

Mei Ling:
"It's not just the skies. I want to reach outer space too."

Snake:
"Like processing image data from reconnaissance satellites?"

Mei Ling:
"In retrospect, do you think it was better that I didn't become a pilot?"

Snake:
"That's right. But there's something else you should worry about?"

Mei Ling:
"Like what?"

Snake:
"The reason why we're on this mission. Weren't we supposed to be collecting soil sample?"

Mei Ling:
"Right. Although, in all honest, I did this for personal feelings too."

Snake:
"Personal feelings?"

A searchlight shines brightly on the vicinity.

Mei Ling:
"What?"

Snake:
"It's a searchlight, stay down."

A truck's engine is heard.

Snake:
"A transport truck in this hour?"

Mei Ling:
"Look, it's moving between the jungles.
Is there a road in this place?"

Snake:
"To dispose of enemies... But that's a technique used in the Vietnam War?

Mei Ling:
"They're moving in an hour when the recon satellite is not above their skies.
Even when the satellite comes back, its view will be interrupted by the trees."

Snake:
"It's what inside that's worrying me."

Mei Ling:
"Look!? Snake, there's soldiers within the transport truck!!"

Snake:
"They're wearing chemical protection suits and what seems to be luggage...
Mei Ling...Your assumptions were correct."

Mei Ling:
"One must 'prepare for calamity not yet in bud' after all."

Snake:
"Another proverb at this time?"

Mei Ling:
"In a situation which requires someone's immediate attention, you must decide immediately before it gets worse.
That means that a catastrophe must be dealth with immediately."

Snake:
"In other words, one must take proper procedures."

Mei Ling:
"That's right, I must take a photograph of this."

Snake:
"Hey! Mei Ling! Stop! That's near the..."

Mei Ling:
"I'll be alright! I'll be back soon!!"

Mei Ling rushes toward the factory and steps on a landmine.

Mei Ling:
"Huh? Did I stepped on something? Oh shit!
A landmine? This can't be happening! S-Snake? Snaaake!!"

Act 3:
Mission 2: Mei-Ling
Act 3

Snake runs towards Mei Ling after hearing her shouts.

Mei Ling:
"Uhhh, S-snaake!"

Snake:
"What is it, Mei Ling?"

Mei Ling:
"M-my right leg..."

Snake:
"Is it alright? Don't move it!
Damn. How did this happened. Don't move until I tell you so."

Mei Ling:
"Huh? Snake? Is there really a landmine under my right leg?"

Snake:
"Uh-huh. It's a Marcou Landmine, a mixed blend of C4 plastic explosive and
TNT with solid-state explosive powder. Its explosive ratius is..."

Mei Ling:
"Will it blow off if I move my right leg lightly?"

Snake:
"Heh. Just what I would expect from a specialist of data analysis."

Mei Ling:
"This is not the time to be joking!"

Snake:
"It seems that this thing is also equipped with a sharp charge."

Mei Ling:
"A sharp charge?"

Snake:
"It's a mechanism which delivers great explosive power to a certain direction by heightening the assembled potency.
The lower half of your body will become chunks if it's detonated."

Mei Ling:
"You didn't have to tell me all of that."

Snake:
"Just don't move, it will detonate if there's no pressure on it.
Let me borrow your combat knife!"

Mei Ling:
"What are you gonna do?"

Snake:
"I'm gonna cook this, don't worry."

Daybreak arrives as the landmine is being dismantled.

Mei Ling:
"It's daybreak. Snake? Are you done?"

Snake:
"Quit whining! This isn't like the movies, you can't dismantle one so quickly."

Mei Ling:
"I have a full view of the road... We might be discovered by the enemy."

Snake:
"We're within the bushes. Nobody will find us as long as they don't come here.
All that's left is to insert the safety pin...something like a thin wire... I got it!"

Mei Ling:
"What are you grumbling about?"

Snake:
"I need your hair pins!"

Mei Ling:
"My hair pins?"

Snake:
"Hurry! Take one off from your ponytail!"

Mei Ling:
"Okay...ouch. What are you gonna do?"

Snake:
"Just hold on a bit!"

Mei Ling:
"It's not use. My leg is getting numb."

Snake:
"Hang in there!...dammit..."

Mei Ling:
"What? Now what's wrong?"

Snake:
"No, no. It's nothing to worry about.
I simply missed placed the safety pin, I'll try again."

Mei Ling:
"Ah, Snake?"

Snake:
"Alright! The safety pin is inserted, it's gonna be okay!"

Mei Ling:
"Huf...huf...huf"

Snake:
"Removed your leg slowly."

Mei Ling:
"It's no use...it's been paralyzed."

Snake:
"I'll help. Just lean yourself on the back."

Mei Ling:
"Whoah!"

Snake:
"Take it slowly."

Mei Ling:
"Could it still explode by any chance?"

Snake:
"Believe in me, alright? Remove your left on the count of three."

Snake:
"One..."

Mei Ling:
"Two..."

Snake:
"THREE!"

Mei Ling:
"Phew!"

Snake:
"Are you alright, Mei Ling? Let's hurry."

Snake:
"It's the factory. We've finally arrived.
There's a guard party with a surveillance monitor...It's very fortified."

Mei Ling:
"This seems to be the place... I'll take some photographs."

Mei Ling takes pictures of the factory.

Mei Ling:
"This will do."

Snake:
"You seem very mortified..."

Mei Ling:
"Huh."

Snake:
"Were you going read the file yet? I understand that I was sent by the Colonel
to accompany you due to the fact that the top branch disregarded information
that you acquired before, which resulted in over 1,000 refugees injured
during a gas in central Asia... During the Basra Republic's War for Indenpedence."

Mei Ling:
"You knew?"

Snake:
"It was neccesary to get to know you, since I was gonna be your partner."

Mei Ling:
"You're sly!"

Snake:
"Sorry..."

Mei Ling:
"It's alright...Snake...Like you said... I even specified which
chemichal weapons plant it was, but...no one took noticed."

Snake:
"Nobody opens their eyes when facing a national threat until it
becomes a reality."

Mei Ling:
"I couldn't endure it...
It was only after receiving the damage report about the gas attack that
when White House decided to do something. After all of that, many innocent
people died anyway..."

Snake:
"I see...it is because you..."

Mei Ling:
"I swore that I would not repeat the same mistake...
I wanted to arrange actual material to make the information convincing...
moreover..."

Snake:
"Is there another reason?"

Mei Ling:
"I-I...and you..."

Snake:
"Huh?! Someone's coming! Hide!!"

Mei Ling:
"Are they coming here?"

Child A:
"I just heard someone's voice here..."

Child B:
"You're alright? No one comes to these parts."

Mei Ling:
"They're children?"

Snake:
"It's dangerous...They're bearing arms, if they see us..."

Mei Ling:
"What do you think you're doing?"

Snake:
"I'll shoot them before they see us. Don't worry,
I'm equipping my with a suppresor. That will prevent any noise."

Mei Ling:
"Stop it, Snake!"

Grabs Snake's gun.

Mei Ling:
"Can't you see they're children!?"

Snake:
"Don't be foolish!! They'll kill us if they found us!! Give it back!"

Mei Ling:
"Don't do it, Snake!"

The conversation between the two children turns to silent.

Mei Ling:
"We're safe..."

Snake:
"We made it this far to turn back now.
Hurry! Get your soil sample. We'll be leaving in five minutes."

Mei Ling:
"Snake..."

The scene changes to a conference room.

Schultz throws the materials to the desk.

Schultz:
"Mei Ling! Where the hell did you obtain these photographs and analysis results?"

Mei Ling:
"I've requested help from the CIA. They've also been investigating chemical plants and..."

Schultz:
"That's a very elaborated lie! You obtained this photograph and the soil from the analysis results
by sneaking into that place and not just by yourself."

Campbell:
"General!? If I may...I suggest we quickly prepare a countermeasure at least and..."

Schultz:
"Don't be confused, Colonel Campbell! That's already been arranged."

Mei Ling:
"Arranged?"

Schultz:
"White House deals punishment with military power. We'll launch a cruise missile."

Mei Ling:
"But that's..."

Schultz:
"Did I make myself clear! This information can only be valid if obtained externally!! Not through an
illegal infiltration from our country!! That's final!"

General Schultz leaves the conference room.
The scene changes. Mei Ling is depressed.

Snake:
"You seem to be spending the evening on the beach by yourself?
Did expect you to be suddenly romanticist... I been looking for
you, Mei Ling..."

Mei Ling:
"Snake..."

Snake:
"Your complexion seems bad..."

Mei Ling:
"I...I'm just tired..."

Snake:
"Just tired?"

Mei Ling:
"It was all a waste of time...I couldn't do anything...
There are people in this world who have no idea of what's going on..."

Snake:
"I heard about the cruise missile from the Colonel."

Mei Ling:
"I...I seriously thought I could save many lives this time...
But it's not like that...Until someone gets wounded at the end...
nothing changes."

Snake:
"It's not your weightto carry."

Mei-Ling begins to cry.

Mei Ling:
"Why? Why a cruise missile? There are other methods!!
Please...Tell me, Snake! Everything we did was useless!!"

Snake:
"I don't like to see you suffering like this."

Mei Ling:
"And those kids..."

Snake:
"It's alright! Surely they'll be safe!"

Mei Ling:
"That's not true! They will all die!!"

Snake:
"It's alright! Let's talk..."

Mei Ling:
"Uh"

"Snake:
"Mei Ling..."

Mei Ling continues crying and shedding tears.

Snake:
"Did you know that 'human stenght must be carried out
to hear one's destiny'?"

Mei Ling:
"Huh?"

Snake:
"You can decide the fate of your judgement at the end with hard work."

Mei Ling:
"Snake..."
