So this means we'll have to wait until Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword get redone in whatever futuristic definition we get beyond the futurama for a soundtrack release?

Sweet. Updated main theme arrangements + no filler tracks. This will be a great replacement to the original soundtrack, granted the arrangements are done well. I wonder who's handling them. Senior staff or the new[er] composers at Nintendo? Also, I wonder if the whole games audio is getting an overhaul or just the main themes?

the promo videos featured the old soundtrack, but of course that could have been a placeholder.

Man, what a waste. No "filler tracks"? That ain't right. Nintendo almost never wants to do albums anymore, and the few they do apparently have to be pointlessly truncated (if filler tracks are such a big deal, you skip them). May as well just say "you already bought the soundtrack, it's in the game" and be done with it.

shame, since Nintendo basically brought all of us to like VGM in the first place.

Only a select few tracks received updates. Locales like Outset & Windfall are arranged, but others such as Dragon Roost are the original. Most of the boss themes are arranged except for Kalle & Ganondorf. (Wha..? Puppet Ganon is, but not the epic final battle?) A few character themes and fanfares, but not others. Etc. Seems like quite a shame. It should've been all or nothing, at least when it comes to the main themes. The Great Sea isn't even arranged. And neither is the Staff Credits, but I wouldn't have it any other way. That track is perfect the way it is.

they're arranged? from a gameplay video i've seen, it just sounds like they upgraded the instrumental samples. maybe I was on the wrong song.

but hey, what else can you expect from Nintendo? the whole company is designing games as if it's still the late '90s. they really need to hire better sound guys and place more emphasis on audio design (and not the lame orchestral crap like Skyward Sword).

Yeah, that's what I mean. Semantics, I suppose.

And yeah, I agree. The Nintendo sound team has been a constant letdown to me these last number of years. With the exception of Brawl. That was just.. words can't describe. I don't even care about the music being orchestrated and crap. The compositions themselves have been very lackluster. At least with the flagship titles. There's still some interesting composers such as Daisuke Shiiba & Asuka Ito. They're just doing lesser known titles. Ryo Nagamatsu has also done some great things. He's someone I'll be keeping my eyes on.

Asuka Hayazaki is probably Asuka Ohta, based on their both working on Kyoto-developed games and using the same given name in Japanese (あすか given by the Super Mario 3D Land piano book).

I'm about a year and a half behind Nintendo games, so I haven't heard much 3DS and Wii U stuff (Pilotwings Resort is okay, Steel Diver has a great ending theme, NSMB2 is mostly recycled from NSMBW but the staff roll arrangement is a'ight), but as of a year and a half ago I adore pretty much every composer on Nintendo's payroll for some reason or another.

Especially if you throw in their first-party subsidiaries, because Intelligent Systems has been murdering everyone and everything for a decade.

I personally thought the SS soundtrack was awesome, the orchestral tracks especially.

Likewise. Definitely would make my day if they ever release the soundtrack...but that probably will remain a dream.

I can confirm that the Great Sea theme has been updated I'm playing the game and it sounds more "majestic" than the GC arrangement

Those were already confirmed as Kondo's though (I think).

Does it reveal information about the other songs?

PS. how do you know for sure that's the same Toru employed by Nintendo?

if he has mutual friends with other guys, then it's most likely him (i couldn't see this info because he has it blocked for non-friends, I suppose)

I really hope that there is someone who can handle Japanese writing, because it would be very interesting to know what his role in this game was. Has someone other from the sound crew an account, Kenta Nagata for example, which also could be asked?

I updated the display title to match the cover. The cover is using small caps, not all caps.

I think Asuka Ohta changed her name after getting married. That's my reasoning.

So far this album is not listed in The Legend of Zelda's product page. I think that it should be added, maybe under Wind Waker until someone makes a page for the game.
