I've been waiting for a release date for this!! I love Sota Fujimori and just about every damn album he's composed songs in. Gungage, Elder Gate, Shin Contra, and his own original released albums SYNTHESIZED and SYNTHESIZED2....and also the Rumble Roses games. This guy is a badass and a synth godd. Hopefully this won't be too hard to get a hold of. I got SYNTHESIZED Re Edition and SYNTHESIZED2 fairly easy so I'm hope for the same with this.

I don't know how long the samples have been up, but I've just gone through them and I've got some news about how Neo Contra is presented. It might be make-or-break for anybody on the fence about purchasing the album just for that soundtrack.
Positives * Isolated cutscene audio! Did you know there was some decent music under that terribly-written dialogue? * Umm... well, a good chunk of Neo Contra is finally on CD. Drawbacks * SO MANY GOOD TRACKS are missing. Tracks like: (all links go to Youtube) --- Title loop --- Select screen --- Mission 2-1 (Shattered Soldier "Battle Train" remix) --- Mission 4-1 --- Mission 4-2 (Super C "Jungle" arrangement) --- Mission 5-3 --- Mission 5 Red Falcon boss --- "Lance Lullaby" remix / Mystery G death cutscene --- Mission 6 --- Master Contra first form boss --- Master Contra second form boss ("MY BRAIN!!!") --- Credits 4-1, 4-2, 5-3 and Red Falcon are some of the game's best tracks, and their snubbing is devastating. The Mystery G death cutscene music is missed too, as it puts a nice narrative cap on a musical theme that shows up in the other cutscenes. I can't think of a good reason why so much content would be left off. The way the track list currently stands, there's going to be more than enough leftover room on the disc. On the other hand, the samples from the other two discs don't sound too bad. If you're a Fujimori fan (like me), there's probably a lot of good music to look forward to. If LC-2026 is disc 1 and LC-2027 is disc 2, then what is disc 3 (NEO CONTRA OST)? Does it even have a catalog number?

Actually it looks like we might have to split the regular edition off into a child album. There are now two product listings up on Konamistyle. One for the 3-disc first print w/ Neo Contra and another for the regular 2-disc set. They added a "T" to the catalog number for the regular edition.
3-disc first printing with the Neo Contra OST (LC2026-2027) - http://www.konamistyle.jp/item/70944 2-disc regular edition without the Neo Contra OST (LC2026-2027T) - http://www.konamistyle.jp/item/71089 Kinda glad they did this because there would have been no way to distinguish which version someone had in their collection otherwise. |

It looks like the 3rd disc is in a separate packaging: http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/1451/dsc0107gc.jpg
Might be best to split the 3rd disc into a separate release, and just leave the LC2026~7/T as LC2026~7. |

I split the Neo Contra OST off into its own listing since it has separate packing from SYNTHESIZED3 and even has its own unique catalog number: http://vgmdb.net/album/26762. I got this in the mail today and there's zero reference to the Neo Contra disc anywhere on the SYNTHESIZED3 packaging so it definitely makes sense to split them.
Can someone with privileges remove disc 3 from the SYNTHESIZED3 entry? No permission here. |

I disagree with the split. I think it makes more sense to keep them together. They're clearly meant to be packaged together, even if the Contra disc is an afterthought. The catalog number for NEO CONTRA is just a continuation of SYNTHESIZED3, the disc art is consistent with the previous two discs, and it's even called "Disc 3".
It's part of the SYNTHESIZED3 package. It makes less sense to have an individual entry labeled "Disc 3". EDIT: I'm just saying, is all Last edited by Judge Ito; Jun 20, 2011 at 09:18 AM. |

Anyone get the two extra tracks? I ordered from shoppingmalljapan and they can't get them. "it looks like those bonus tracks you mentioned are only available to premium members who pay a subscription on the website."

I think he's referring to the tiny Disc 3 at the very top of the CD, above NEO CONTRA

I'm a few months late posting this but I was wondering why there is no mention that one of the 2 downloadable tracks that you get when you purchase Synthesized 3 called "Prophet Five" is one of the Neo Contra tracks that was cut from the soundtrack. In the game it's the song that plays on the second half of stage 5. I believe its referred to as "Mission 5-3" in one of the above youtube posts.
It's such a wicked track and it's a real shame it wasn't included on the disc Last edited by Vlad; Aug 23, 2011 at 04:49 PM. |
