There is an album I'm hoping I could get some help with:

http://www.suruga-ya.jp/kaitori_detail/186141555

This is an EtlanZ album which is copyright 1999, and thus predates all of their known work. I own a copy of this, but unfortunately I can't decipher enough information about the album to create a vgmdb listing.

For example, things I can't tell are:

- What would be an appropriate English title for the album?
- Where are the songs from? e.g. are they anime, VGM, or something else? I'll say that none of the songs sound like familiar VGM to me.

Teioh, how do you get the Japanese characters on that website to render properly? All I see is what looks like garbled western characters, e.g.:

ƒhƒ‰ƒSƒ" ƒNƒGƒXƒg @"´ŒA i1'10" j

Are you using Firefox as browser? You can change the Character Encoding under the View menu to Unicode. It should work then.

I was using Chrome, and somehow got it displaying correctly. I also see that a freshly-installed Firefox also works perfectly.

Does anyone know what this is?

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t526599103

EDIT:

I do see a reference to the album here:

https://www.goodspress.jp/columns/96147/3/

which according to Google Translate, says:

Takashi Konagami "Dragon Quest III and To the Legend ...". With "Maruhon seal" that "Haru will recover HP". The instant jacket picture that I took a cosplay shoot by calling the listener of All Night Nippon who was in charge at that time is a parody of the Beatles "Sargent · Peppers ~" taste ... It tastes like that. The bottom two "March / Dragon Quest" "Sports Festival Pops Dragon Quest III (Fanfare)" were supposed to be used at school events etc.

I just looked up the credits for this game, "MUSIC" by ガブリン ("Goblin Sounds," I guess these guys maybe) and another name that I think is 播谷慶弘 but I'm not 100% certain about ("Y. Harry").

Here's a Konami album not yet in the database, released in 1999 or 2000 for medal games G1 Leading Sire

GI-CLASSIC SERIES SOUND SELECTION

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p574718387

Catalogue number is most likely GS869CD1

Unfortunately the seller didn't allow proxy services, so I couldn't bid on it.

My guess on the composers:

T.OTA (Tomomi Ohta)
H.TANIGUCHI (Hirofumi Taniguchi)
Y.SHIMIZU (Youhei Shimizu)
K.KAZAOKA (Koji Kazaoka)
S.HOKKAI (Soshiro Hokkai)

Does this record by Shinji Tanimura fall into VGMDB's scope? It's a Konami-themed image single titled 正午の星座/Mahiru no Seiza that I've seen brought up a few times in certain Konami-related articles.

Here are some old records which aren't in the database. As far as I can tell, these are "sound quiz" records where it plays a song from a NES game, and you try to determine which game it is:

A tweet about these sound quiz records is here:

Yeah I'd love to get my hands on that US Castlevania/Contra tape. It looks like a unique album, there's a Japanese tape for Castlevania and for Contra, but not one that has both...
Maybe it was a mail in thing, like the old Konami NES posters advertised as mail in purchases in old magazines.

No photo of the back or any info that I could find. Will try to track down the owner, I don't think it's fan- or home-made but who knows, not enough info at the moment.

Hi guys,

I was searching eBay for soundtracks and stuff... and i've come across this thing: https://www.ebay.es/itm/Nintendo-64-...6/263854597599 But i find almost zero information about it, and the search option show no more information either.

Did you talk about it before?

Seeing how the game title on the picture used as disc label have been cropped, it indeed does look home-made.

Very exciting to find that Cool Cuts CD. The CD contains two tracks from Pilotwings 64 (Rocket Belt and Hang Glider). According to vgmdb, there are no other known albums with original Pilotwings 64 music.
