the album itself is incomplete, it's more like a best of than a complete soundtrack (stupid)

Anyone know where SQ207 comes from for the catalog number? I can't find it on any of the scans. Recently acquired a physical copy and can't find any reference to that number on the disc, cover art, or even ring data. Not a big deal, just kind of confused. Was this maybe only listed in some external catalog, or am I just blind?

Yup, it's a catalog number that appeared in Square Soft, Inc. magazine ads:

Version 1
GamePro November 1995

Version 2
GameFan November 1995
GameFan December 1995

Version 3
Authorized Secret of Evermore Strategy Guide (BradyGames)

Note how the cover is different in the ads. Could there be two separate versions of the soundtrack? Looks like the price jumped from 15 to 15.99 USD. Can't find 18 USD anywhere. And, as per the GamePro ad, Kefka's Domain seems to be SQ208 rather than SQ108 (unless there were two prints).

The code written on the Secret of Evermore CD is "ZOMAX OPTICAL-PLYMOUTH MN-Z11715 0L1Y3<1005>", for those who don't want to bother looking at the scan.

ah, gotcha. Thanks a bunch for the references. First time I've run into a situation with external catalog numbers - I figured only on-album numbers would be used for that. Discogs omitted it from their entry (https://www.discogs.com/release/7110...ore-Video-Game), but I don't know, maybe whomever submitted wasn't aware of it.

Yeah, interesting that the cover is different, but I'd guess it's more of a promo/pre-release thing. Don't think it's uncommon for designs to change before the production run.

Anyway, thanks again. Great info.

On closer inspection, the early soundtrack cover is just the box art with the Thraxx fight, given a blue tint. Could be that someone felt this was too boring (it's also kind of hard to make out) and they went with the Carltron/beast dog photos.
