Default A shipping problem (from POCS-21032~4: Sonic the Hedgehog 1&2 Soundtrack)

Mines shipped, wooooop woooop
Edit that: CD japan are retards.
Apparently they don't ship to the adress registered to your paypal account and the adress they have shipped to for the last 5 years. They decided to send it to my old adress. So it's lost.

Are you using EMS or some other courier? Surely you can get in a change of address during the shipping process?

Well theres no tracking number on the order or my account, so I don't think so.
It's very strange because the last 10 orders I have made have all been shipped correctly, all via paypal too.

CDJapan restructured their site, so there have been some changes (e.g. the points system is now different). Always check the order confirmation for errors. I had a lot of trouble with duplicate items because the shop interface misbehaved on page reloads. This wasn't CDJapan though.

Anyway, my copy also shipped today *yeah*

Do you live close by? Is there a way you can contact those currently living at your old place to hold it for you?

I would hope CDJapan would refund or ship another at their expense for their mistake.

here check this out:

Hi Gary,

Thank you for your mail.

I am very sorry about this.

Our recent system upgrade resetted your shipping address list.

Your first order placed after our system upgrade,
which took effect on August 23, used the very first address
registered in your customer account.

We knew this could cause an issue so we stated the shipping address
in the order confirmation mail and also
in the last page of the order flow before the order could be finalized.

Once the package ships out, we are unable to locate your package
because it is not registered in any data.
So we can only wait for the package to return.

Is there any way you could make arrangements to
receive your package sent to your former address?

We are very sorry for the inconveniences caused.

Sincerely,
Mana Miyamoto

This. I don't see CDJapan at fault here.

But I paid via paypal and goods should only be shipped to the registered paypal adress. Why would I have looked for something that I've never had a problem with before.

There is a bridge that you have to cross every day to get to work. One day the bridge is gone, but there is a big fat warning sign and a policeman pointing this out with a loud voice. You are the one ignoring all these warnings and driving your car straight into the river.

See what I mean?

Well, it clearly isn't their mistake.

I get what you're saying, but they haven't attempted to ship to this adress for 5 years. It's not like there was a huge sign or anything saying *We have changed servers blah blah please check your details as they may have been dug from our archives from 5 years ago*

But you also got a order confirmation from CDJapan, right? Because that's just the information about the PayPal transaction. And CDJ doesn't use PPs shop interface AFAIK, just the paying capability.

To make this clear. I also encountered this oddity when they changed the site layout. When finishing an order the shipping address was suddenly the address I registered with at CDJ, but which I didn't use in years. I noticed this and changed it back to the correct address.

You obviously didn't check and I fail to see why CDJ should take responsibility for that. Always double-check, especially when money is involved.

Like I said, I also made such mistakes in the past. Ordered every item twice at YA because the shop interface misbehaved. And I obviously didn't bother to check the order confirmation since I received a huge box some weeks later and was wondering why I was so big. Had to pay some fees to get the package shipped back to Hong Kong. But I'm not complaining, since it was my own damn fault. Always double-check!

If CDJapan used the wrong shipping address, CDJapan is at fault. It literally doesn't get simpler than that.

EDIT: On second thought, I see your point, LiquidAcid. Tomorrow at work I'm going to make about a billion mistakes and then tell my boss "well, you should have double-checked all my stuff before approving it, so any mistakes I made are actually your fault for not double-checking." I think he'll take it real well!

You don't understand this? I don't see how you can pass a mistake that someone committed entirely on their own off onto somebody else... it's one of the most senseless things I've ever read, seriously. You have some major responsibility displacement issues if you think that when one person makes a mistake, it's not their fault for the mistake. Yes, I bought drugs and used them as a kid and it's not my fault but my parents' fault for not checking to see if I had drugs. I am in no way responsible for my actions. Yes, I was working for a video game making company programming part of a 10-man character module and I totally screwed up my module and it's everyone else's fault for not double-checking my work. I am in no way responsible for my actions.

No, CDJapan committed this shipping error, not Boyblunder. Their actions are their fault. End of story.

Wrong. Stop writing such a nonsense.

Quoting from BoyBlunder's quote:

He got the information. He got it twice. He ignored it.

He also didn't ship it to the wrong address. That would be... wait for it... CDJapan! You're still not getting that CDJapan did this. CDJapan practically admitted to it in that message right there. "Hey we don't actually know what's going on so we sent some stuff so you can basically do our job for us."

They got it wrong no matter how you look at it and no matter what information they sent. They. Got. It. Wrong.

EDIT: Some smart individual moved the whole issue to its own thread. Thanks I'm still done arguing either way.

To put it a different way, and I admit I haven't used CDJapan in YEARS so I dunno how they do it exactly, but if they have a 'default address' type setting, and you've had that setting for a long time, there's no reason for one to expect that it'd suddenly change to an EARLIER one. Yes maybe he should have paid more attention, but having it bring up an OLD address isn't even in the realm of thought for most people.
And how many people are going to check an email confirmation for the address? Most would just glance to see that the order is correct.
