Apparently, she also mentioned that January 7th was her birthday in one of the posts in one of her blog posts, but I can't recall exactly when she wrote that.

Maybe it's because it was added misspelled (without the underscore).
Here it's the Twitter again: http://twitter.com/#!/Shikata_PR |

Just saw this on Siliconera:
http://www.siliconera.com/2012/03/18...s-stage-event/ Pretty much confirms for me that Shikata is going to be involved in Ciel no Surge's soundtrack. |

Can you provide a link to that one? Looks like I totally missed that.

Here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...Fk3BRuas#t=88s
After the video interview, there was a 30-second preview of the same song that was featured in the Siliconera trailer, including the main credits. |

Thanks, nice to see Shikata on board again. I wonder who exactly was involved with composing. Kind of unpredicatable with the fluctuation inside Gust Sound Team

Most likely we'll have Tsuchiya, Shikata and Yanagawa composing again, with some possibilities of seeing also Nakagawa and Achiwa.
And while I don't know how likely it'll be, I'm also expecting Mitose and Shimotsuki to come back for this series. |

Hmm, what makes you so sure about Yanagawa? IIRC he also departed from Gust shortly after doing Meruru, or something like that. I think I discussed that with Cedille in this thread:
http://vgmdb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6805 Not that I wouldn't want him to come back, not at all! Last edited by LiquidAcid; Mar 21, 2012 at 05:17 AM. |

Yeah, Yanagawa's site profile states he left Gust. Don't know who's the composer - especially with another main Atelier game that will be released in June. It's likely that they use some composers outside of Gust, as Tsuchiya nowadays seems to focus on the directer role and the only left is Achiwa.

This seems reasonable, especially considering that Elkrone no Atelier is probably also composed out-of-house (read: not by Gust members). Well, let's just see how it turns out.

Hmm, I wasn't aware that Yanagawa had left Gust...
Still, it'll be question of time to see who will be the composers for Ciel Nosurge, especially considering the game is coming out next month. EDIT: As for Shikata herself, she has confirmed that she will be also composing and arranging part of the music for Ciel Nosurge. This means that she will also make several instrumental pieces in addition to her vocal numbers. Last edited by aquagon; Mar 22, 2012 at 12:47 AM. |

By the way, it's confirmed: Shikata's birthday is January 7th, according to some of her old VAGRANCY newsletters. The year is still unknown, though.
As proof, here I'm presenting an archived copy of the newsletter in question: http://web.archive.org/web/200802061...lma/back08.htm Last edited by aquagon; Jan 1, 2013 at 11:10 PM. |

Seems like a really odd choice for a mecha anime but we'll see. After all, mecha anime tend to bring out the best in composers. The show should have a pretty good budget at least since it's going to be 25 episodes long (and considering it's being funded by King Records with Nana Mizuki leading the cast and performing the theme song).

The anime doesn't look particularly interesting, but I'm still looking forward to the music.
And I still hope for the second OST volume of Ciel nosurge to surface. Gust is really taking its sweet time here... |

And don't forget about the third and final volume of the Genometric Concerts. However, I'm sure they did it that way to wait until the final chapters for the game were released. The final chapter was released on July 31th, so they might be announcing these albums at any moment.

Right, that one is on my list as well. Also I wouldn't mind if the runtime were a bit longer than volume 2

I was wondering what has been up with Shikata lately, but apparantly not much.
Most recently she did (arrangement, music, vocals) the ending theme song for "Ao Oni THE ANIMATION" (Staff Credits). It's a Studio Deen productly, and honestly, it looks quite bad... |

According to her last.fm page, Akiko Shikata was 12 years old when she released her first EP, though there were no verifiable source on that page so no idea where anyone got that.

Considering Shikata's unique music, there's no way she was born later than I was (1986). I've been thinking for the longest time she's at least around 40 and based on when her first entry came out. It's also not unreasonable for anyone to get in older music from before they were born.
