Not samples or sample libraries per se, but figured I might as well share what I know...

Super Mario 64
"Standard Kit" from "Korg M1" was used in "Bob-omb Battlefield"
"Slap Bass 1" from "Emu Proteus 2" was used in "Bob-omb Battlefield" (could be wrong, since Roland JV-2080 has a very similar sound, and Koji Kondo does own one)

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1
"Rezbo" from "Korg Triton" was used in "Splash Hill Zone Act 1"
"SFZ Brass ST" from "Korg Triton" was used in "Casino Street Zone Act 1"

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2
"Trance/GarageKit" from "Korg Triton" was used in "Sylvania Castle Zone Act 2" and "Oil Desert Zone Act 2"

Sonic Generations
"BrightPulseLead" from "Korg Triton" was used in "Green Hill: Act 2"
"A leadload" from "Korg Triton" was used in "Green Hill: Act 2"

Sonic Heroes
"X-Mod Raver" from "Korg Triton" was used in "Special Stage: Emerald Challenge"

Sonic Adventure
"VS Bell Boy" from "Korg Trinity" was used in "Windy Hill ...for Windy Valley"

Sonic Colors
"X-Mod Raver" from "Korg Triton" was used in "Area - Tropical Resort"

EDIT: also, the flute sample in Church / Graveyard from Zelda TP is likely from one of the Zero-G Ethnic libraries (I found it in a Reason Refill demo for Ethnic Flavours, but it's probably originally from 1 or 2 I'm guessing).
convert the demo. I want to hear.

The sample is not a riff or anything, if that's what you thought. It's just the actual pan flute instrument sample(s) that I believe was used for the themes. It's called "Panpipe Soft-01", maybe you can check if Ethnic 1 has a sample by that name (or similar) since you probably have the CD booklet (I haven't been able to find any tracklist for it online).

I made a replica of the flute part of Graveyard, here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...rd-replica.wav

EDIT: Hmm. I feel like I've heard the drums at 0:18 in Ogre's theme (Tekken 3 Arcade) from one of the DKC1-3 games.. can anyone verify?

-"Today's A New 1-D", "Today's A New 3-D" and "Today's The Day-G" from "Vocal XTC" were used in "A New Day" (Main theme).
-"Raise Me Up You 1-C", "Raise-C", "When I Was Down-C" and "When I Was Low-C" from "Vocal XTC" were used in "Raisin' Me Up" (Closing theme).

I swear I've heard the very first sample in 14 "In the Church" somewhere too, but I can't for the life of me remember/find out where..

The "31 seconds" sample from Ollie King's "Boarder 70" is said to come from Future Music's first sample CD from February 1993, but all download links I find are dead-- does anyone here have it?

I wonder where this information came from? If it's from the comment on the 1Up interview, I'd say it's wrong. It looks more like a Roland JD-990 (aka Super JD) than a JV-2080 (compare the buttons between them).

Speaking of which, I made a list of most of his gear, based on the pictures from the 1Up interview:

Roland XV-5080
Roland SC-8850
Roland VP-9000
E-mu Proteus (3 out of 4 total versions made, not sure which those are in the photos)
Roland Super JD-990
Korg 01R/W (module)
E-mu Morpheus
Novation Supernova II (module)
Studio Electronics SE-1
AKAI S3200
AKAI CD3000

Does anyone recognize the keyboards in the photos?

Also,

I'm shocked how well Hamauzu sliced and utilized that sample... Actually, I'm not even sure where the hell it plays, but I know it's in there (I've extracted all of the samples from the in-game track). If anyone figures it out, I'd love to know. I doubt it's the "main" ambience, because there are about 5 ambient samples in the track - and they're all fairly similar.
Turns out that was used for the ambience at about 0:13 (among other places). I found out by replacing the sample in the PSF for the track with something more obvious. Again, I'm amazed how well he put it to use, I seriously cannot reproduce it.

This sample was most likely taken from The X-Static Goldmine sample CD released by Polestar Magnetics in 1992. I have the Future Music CD in question and it is solely a demo compilation featuring material from various sample CDs that were released around that time (1991 to 1993).

Here is a picture of the inlay of the FM Cd, I highlighted the 31 seconds sample:

I can recommend you to get the original Polestar release, as the re-release of X-Static Goldmine by e-Lab is different.

Yes, actually! I hear the XV-5080 is pretty similar to the JV-2080, though... Since I don't actually own the 2080/5080 (some incomplete sample libraries I happened to find for the 2080) I can't make a complete verdict, but yeah, I have a good (by that I mean horrible) feeling that there's a lotta Roland gear used in the good ol' Mario games.

The top keyboard in one of those photos look like a Yamaha VL-1 to me, by the way.

Yeeeep... I remember Kondo saying something about wanting the most realism he can manage, and the VL1 would fit that statement very well. The problem, however, is that synth happens to have no emulations or sampled soundfonts, as far as I can see.

Also...

Jet Set Radio
"Wah Space Bass" from "Korg Triton" was used in "Sneakman"
"Smooth Sine Lead" from "Korg Triton" was used in "That's Enough"

Mario and Sonic at the 2012 London Olympic Games
"VS Bell Boy" from "Korg Triton" was used in "Splash Hill Zone Medley"

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2
"Old & Analog" from "Korg Triton" was used in "White Park Zone Act 1"

Got a feeling "B21 Brass Section" from the JD-990 is the brass from Bob-omb Battlefield, too...

Still on the hunt for the 1992 X-static Goldmine release. Only reason I know it was used in Funk to the Top was because of a demo...

I'm not so sure that's the sample used in Launch Base. It could be from anywhere.. it's just a generic "go" sample. And the Ocarina of Time sample has been documented already. Still, huge props for documenting all these.

Biohazard 0 (Resident Evil 0)
  • "VELVET ENO" from "Spectrasonics: Distorted Reality 2" was used in "Epilogue" (not on any official soundtrack)

Sonic Rush

"Edgy Synth 02" from "Apple Loops for Garageband" was used in "Jeh Jeh Rocket"

"Nordic Keyed Fiddle 01" from "Garageband - World Strings" was used in "Wrapped in Black

The latter one of these two has often been stated as sampling the 1997 PS1 game Grandia, which can now be debunked as false. Both Snowtown Ranyu and Wrapped in Black use this fiddle sample, rather than Naganuma sampling the Grandia track.

Here is the clean sample: https://app.box.com/s/nnvoygxdou0v0tqypnnu

And here's a recreation of its use in Wrapped in Black, made using a stem of the song's keys as a reference: https://app.box.com/s/21p7tueqjv02t0lts4hn

I've been trying to find some guitar samples Namiki used in Ketsui, so I've been going through guitar libraries.I didn't get what I was looking for, but I found another sample.

Wangan MIDNIGHT MAXIMUMTUNE 2 ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK
  • "17G-GTE04-" from "Prosamples Vol 17: Guitar Licks" was used in "Smoldery Guest"

Also found a few vocal samples today too.

KOF Maximum Impact Original Sound Tracks
  • "VOC001-F" from "ProSamples vol.12 - Dance Vocals" was used in "Contagious Love (Live House Stage)"
  • "VOC004-F" from "ProSamples vol.12 - Dance Vocals" was used in "Contagious Love (Live House Stage)"
  • "VOC012-F" from "ProSamples vol.12 - Dance Vocals" was used in "Rooftop Realism (Southtown Stage)"

GOD TRACKS!
  • "VOC12-M" from "ProSamples vol.12 - Dance Vocals" was used in "Smoking Roll"
  • "12C-VOC33-M" from "ProSamples vol.12 - Dance Vocals" was used in "Smoking Roll"
  • "1F-VOC34-FX" from "ProSamples vol.12 - Dance Vocals" was used in "Battery :size AA" and "Battery Size D"

I'm not fully sure on the last God Hand sample, maybe someone else can confirm it.

Sonic CD JP
  • "Track 67" (samples 6, 7, 8 and 9) from "Zero-G Datafiles vol. 2" were used in "Collision Chaos - Present"

Ollie King
  • "Track 97" (sample 3) from "Zero-G Datafiles vol. 2" was used in "Funk to the Top"

Air Gear
  • "Track 93" (sample 15) from "Best Service Voice Spectral" was used in "Skygrinder"
  • "Track 53" (sample 8) from "Zero-G Datafiles vol. 2" was used in "Love Sensation"
  • "09 Lyrical Paragraph" from "Masterbits RAPsody" was used in "Master Buster"

I'm starting to grow suspicious of Best Service's Vocal Pearls sample pack containing the vocoded samples in Jet Set Radio Future's "Teknopathetic", due to heavy mention of "electronic emotions" and vocoding, however all links I find appear to be dead. Anyone happen to have that certain pack?

Interesting. That sample is on The X-Static Goldmine by Polestar Magnetics as well (d2t1, sample 9).

Related: the tenth sample of d2t47 sounds like the pad in INTRUDER 2 from MGS1. I'm not sure it's really it though, and certainly not if it's the source.

Are you referring to the X-static Goldmine or XL1?
