Did Akira Yamaoka compose new material specifically for this film, or are his tracks just featured here / arranged by Jeff Danna?

For the first movie Yamaoka's tracks were just (re) arranged by Danna. I don't know what's the situation for this sequel though.

Here they say 3 new tracks from Yamaoka.

Which would be 06,10,14.
Track 13 "Rain of Brass Petals Three Voices Edit" is from Silent Hill 3.

I was going to ask if the movie is any good, but then I noticed it has a 5% rating on Rotten Tomatoes...

That's not much worse than their rating of the first movie (29). Actually, most of the time, their rating/opinion on movies is almost the complete opposite of mine. But then I don't know how you feel about them... I'm going to watch this movie once it's released either way. Hopefully Yamaoka doesn't let me down!

Pretty much everyone I know who's seen the movie has said it is bad. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaad. Uwe Boll bad.

I could give you my opinion but the damn movie only opened in ten cities in Mexico, and MY HOMETOWN WASN'T INCLUDED. Agh.

My thoughts on Yamaoka's "solo" tracks:

06: Nothing too special imo. Sounds like your typical horror movie cue..
10: Again, nothing too special, has some samples from the first Silent Hill game, which is the only thing that makes it Silent Hill-esque imo.
14: The melody sounds like any mainstream metal stuff you hear on the radio. Though, if you like McGlynn, you might like the vocals!

I think Track 14 "Silent Scream" is a natural progression of Theme of Shadows of the Damned main theme but with heavier accent on metal.
Didn't like it as much as Shadows of the Damned.
