Default Game soundtracks without full composer breakdowns.

This isn't meant to be exhaustive, just some of the soundtracks I'm really interested in seeing breakdowns for myself. So, feel free to add your own.

GREEN = does have a full soundtrack release
RED = doesn't have a full soundtrack release

3D Hot Rally (Oka's only song, Monster Dance, is known. The rest are either Suga or Kanazashi.)
Arcana
Bomberman 64: The Second Attack
Breath of Fire 3 (a dozen songs known)
Dynamite Headdy (some songs known)
Earthbound (some songs known via the incomplete soundtracks.)
Golfing Greats
Hexion
Kirby's Air Ride (business trip sound test has some credits.)
Kirby Squeak Squad
Legend of the Mystical Ninja (got as far as assuming Ueko did all or most of it based on the booklet.)
Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (1 song confirmed as Tanaka - Peach Beach.)
Mario Kart Wii (i think only one song is confirmed as Ota's?)
Mystic Warriors
Mega Man 7 (some songs confirmed)
Mega Man Star Force 3
Mercury: The Prime Master (booklets may have something.)
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Pop'n Twinbee (boss themes are possibly Tomita's, via booklet...)
SD Snatcher
Sonic 3 & Knuckles (lol rite)
Super Paper Mario
Terranigma (the entire soundtrack is not collected on the album)
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (some songs confirmed)
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (overworld song is confirmed as Kozue Ishikawa)
Twinbee: Rainbow Bell Adventure

Many games don't have full soundtracks of course, so if soundtracks for them are eventually released (who knows?), it's possible credits would be included. For the ones that already have soundtrack releases... shitsux, it's a shame that they were not included already! The upside though is that as there are tracklists already available, it would be easy to present them to anyone who might be able to help, if asked (like the original composers), which is not the case for games without soundtracks, so those would be slightly less trivial, since tracknames would have to be sourced from rips, if at all. Blahblahblah~

There's also a few games soundtracks I'm interested in that don't have any composer credits whatsoever. Can't think of all that many right now, but...

Bomberman 64 Japan / Arcade Edition
Sid Meier's Civilization (SNES)
The Lucky Dime Caper Starring Donald Duck (Master System)

GoldenEye 007 is pretty much broken down between Norgate's and Kirkhope's respective websites.

===========================================
Grant Kirkhope:
Archives
Bunker [Does that include 2?]
Cradle
Frigate
Perimeter [Unused? "Unsquare Water Dance" in the USF]
Statue
Streets
===========================================
Graeme Norgate:
Aztec
Caverns
Depot
Egypt
Runway
Runway Ending
Surface 1
Surface 2
Surface Ending
Train

Elevator [Caverns]
Multi Player Death
Single Player Death
Switch On

Aztec Suspense
Caverns Suspense
Depot Suspense
Egypt Suspense
Jungle Suspense
Runway Suspense
Surface 2 Suspense
Train Suspense
===========================================
Robin Beanland:
Elevator (Control) ["Elevator Music by: Robin Beanland" appears in the credits]
===========================================
Unconfirmed:
Title Screen
Mission Select
Pause Watch Menu
Dam
Facility
Silo
Jungle [Norgate? He has an unused Jungle piece on his site, but the one in the game is just ambience, so who knows (or cares haha)]
Control
Ending
Captured (Statue)
Bungee Jump [More ambience]
===========================================
Were these in the final game? Perhaps in the multiplayer stages? Been a while since I last played:

Basement [Graeme Norgate has this as the original Jungle piece on his site]
Citadel [Scrapped stage]
===========================================

I think it's safe to assume Kirkhope did the respective suspense themes and the Statue captured theme. I also assume Kirkhope only put up what he felt were his best works, so maybe the rest can be attributed to him? It seems like Norgate was more thorough in posting all of his related material. It also makes sense since the work ends up being divided more evenly between them.

Someone could probably contact Kirkhope to confirm the rest.

ooh, thanks this is good. shame that it isn't complete, but yeah fortunately it would be pretty easy to find out from either of them.

yeah, those songs were used only in multiplayer mode. same with unsquare water dance, and most of the Suspense / X themes that didn't find uses in the mission mode. (used to play multiplayer mode especially to hear them, back in the day~)

Graeme Norgate is also a very nice guy you can ask directly. I got the composer breakdown for DKL from him ages ago.

As for other OSTs without breakdowns: nearly all Tales ones.

Worst is when partial official credits are available, wouldn't you agree? Especially when there's very little chance of achieving credit completion! Like Ragnarok Online!

Received a response from Norgate! (I also asked about Killer Instinct)

Quote:
Thanks for the email.

Re: Killer Instinct.. Robin did the rest of the tracks yep.

Goldeneye list...I'm not even sure what citadel would be, neither of us did a tune for that as the level never existed.apart from bungee jump and jungle ambience which are just sound effect tracks, I'd say Grant did all of the rest.

Cheers!
Graeme

I did too.

I got this answer from him today (I sent him a tracklist to hopefully recognize the tracks he made):

That's a lot of tracks to go through... I'm sure you can do some detective work and find out who did what.

The elevator music on my site was mine, and the other more jazzier lighter track was Robin's.

I think all the main tracks I did for the game are on my site, and the little stings and sound effect tracks were mine.

then I guess we split what we call the "nrg" tracks between us depending on who had done the original level version.

Hope that helps.
We definitely know now that he made the elevator (Caverns) track on his own site, at least.

It definitely sounds like Kirkhope made the Citadel BGM. I'm thinking about shooting him a message on Twitter.
Also, judging by the ending theme from Perfect Dark (made by Kirkhope), I'd say he also made the one for GoldenEye.
Bunker is also only called just "Bunker", and not "Bunker" and "Bunker 2", so he may've done both...

strugglepoo: so what's the full breakdown for killer instinct? I forgot to mention that but it was another one I'm curious about.

anyway, seeing as Graeme said he thinks all the songs he did are on his site, I'd guess that does mean Grant did Bunker 2, Control, Dam, Facilty, Ending Theme, Silo etc. for sure, wouldn't hurt to ask him anyway

also, regarding 3D Dot Game Heroes-- yes.

Just asked him on Twitter. Let's see what he says I also asked if he made Citadel. I'd be surprised if he did not compose it, to be honest.

Graeme Norgate - Fulgore, Glacius, Jago, Thunder (note: Fulgore is listed as Cinder on his website for some reason. I don't think Cinder is his since the danger theme sounds a lot like Eyedol's)
Robin Beanland - All the rest

Well, it seems Grant Kirkhope ignored both my Tweet and my mail. I suppose he's tired of answering those kind of questions or something... It's been 4 days since I sent my Tweet, and 3 days since I sent the mail, and he also answered Tweets that are later than the one I made. Maybe someone else gets lucky.

Otherwise, I'd say the rest, except Jungle was made by him. Maybe Graeme remembers if he did Jungle. But I'm quite sure he composed it, seeing as he did the beta and suspense themes.

FICK JA.

according to my tracklist there are two that are uncredited -- select theme and watch/pause theme. everything else is done though. woo! shame this information cannot be presented to the world via vgmdb somehow (like the wagyan paradise credits i got from eriko imura) but nonetheless awesome.

I have tagged those with Graeme Norgate, because of what Graeme said:

"I think all the main tracks I did for the game are on my site, and the little stings and sound effect tracks were mine."

Edit: It turns out Citadel has the same song as the multiplayer level "Complex", so I might actually retag the track title to that. This might also be the reason why one of the composers were confused by "Citadel". The developers were probably just going to re-use the Complex track for the Citadel level.

Also, I was unaware of the Surface 1 X song. Does anyone have a USF with that track included? http://tcrf.net/Notes:Goldeneye_007

Wow. After a month Grant Kirkhope actually answered my mail. And he actually said this (gave him the same list I gave to Graeme):

Quote:
Hey Nisto,

I listened to all of them and yes they are all mine! I have to admit it's
been a while since I heard some of them...... you'll have to send me the
list when you get it all together.

Cheers,
Grant.
Maybe he just didn't listen to Jungle...

in the readme.txt that came with the USF set that I've got, there's this:

Quote:
If you are wondering where "Surface 1 X" went, well "Surface 2 X" is actually duplicated in the internal track list, so I believe "Surface 1 X" is exactly the same as "Surface 2 X". Because of that I just deleted it. Apart from that, every mission track has a corresponding "X" track.
i was going to say i couldn't remember ever hearing an X variation of Surface 1 and certainly couldn't find an example on youtube~

anyway, great to hear from Grant. I think this can be considered a pretty closed case~

Pause menu - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCc_v5B26wI

Did you compose these, or did Graeme?
Heh! If Graeme said he did the Jungle then he did.......it's been a long
time!

I did the Pause and Menu music, I'm pretty sure......

Cheers,
Grant.
I guess Grant actually made those tracks.

Do we know of any composition credits to any track at all for Mario Kart Double Dash!!? Maybe Kenta Nagata was only credited in Double Dash!! for the tracks he originally made (for MK64, I mean).

Triple postin'. Sorry.

Does anyone know if there's any specific credit to the music from Heroes of Might and Magic III? I recently rediscovered this soundtrack, and the Combat themes are AWESOME.

As far as I know, only Peach Beach/Daisy Cruiser is currently known, which is Shinobu Tanaka. That comes from the Luigi B-Side Music album.

There's a few others that I'm pretty sure are her too: Sherbet Land, Waluigi Stadium, Baby Park, the Circuit songs. The only thing I feel confident in saying is by Kenta Nagata is the credits music. Indeed I wondered for a while if he was only credited for legacy songs. Would love a breakdown.

Also, thanks for all your help with Goldeneye

Seems like Graeme recently put up a table with credits for Goldeneye on his site. I noticed I was wrong on one track when comparing to the table; Bungee Jump, which is apparently by Graeme, not Grant, who I had originally credited the track to.
