Disney's Music Trivia:

• Lyricist Larry Morey and composer Charles Wolcott already created a score for Cinderella in 1946, but for an unknown reason, the music was never used for the film

• Walt Disney approached the Tin Pan Alley songwriting trio of Al Hoffman, Mack David, and Jerry Livingston to write songs for the film. This was the first time songs were written by outside contractors

• The songwriting team worked for nine months on the project. Mack David and Jerry Livingston asked Ilene Woods, which they knew from her show, The Ilene Woods Show, on ABC radio's Blue Network, to sing on a demo recording including
"Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo", "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes", and "So This Is Love". Walt loved the resulting demo and asked Woods to voice the role of Cinderella

• The soundtrack to the seventy-four minute film is composed by 150 individual musical sequences

• The score was written by veterans Oliver Wallace and Paul J. Smith. Wallace underscored most sequences, while Smith contributed his classical background on tracks like "The King's Plan", "Reception at the Palace", and the dramatic finale

• "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes", which shares parallels to "I'm Wishing" from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and "When You Wish Upon a Star" from Pinocchio, and serves as Cinderella's leitmotif throughout
the score, adapted by Wallace and Smith

• "So This is Love" is the first love duet in a Disney animated feature and also serves as love theme throughout the score

• In September 18, 1946, several songs by Wolcott and Morey were written, including "Mouse Song", where Cinderella was supposed to dress up the mice as the sing about the finery of their wardrobe
"Sing a Little, Dream a Little" was replaced by "Oh, Sing Sweet Nightingale", yet the basic concept of the song remained in the film; "The Dress That My Mother Wore", where Cinderella sings about her deceased parents.
However, it was decided to not use it as the destruction of that dress by the stepsisters would have make it too traumatic for the title character as well as the young audience
"Dancing on a Cloud" would have had Cinderella and the Prince imagining a romantic celestial fantasy. This concept was already planned for the finale of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, but dropped, also for Cinderella.
It ultimately came alive years later in Walt Disney's animated feature Sleeping Beauty; "I Lost My Heart at the Ball" was to be sung by Cinderella to the mice and a bluebird, reflecting her feelings after the night of romance
at the castle while the Prince's "The Face That I See in the Night" was cut because the animators had difficulties to create a convincing human male

The trio of David, Hoffman, and Livingston also created a number of unused songs. One such song was "Raga-Daga-Day", written in January 1948, which would have functioned as a work song
Another unused song, "Horse-Sense", written in March 1948, would have the horse, Major, giving Bruno advice on how to deal with Lucifer
