I had trouble working out what "構成作家" means. For now, I've put "Construction writer" despite this not making much sense.

構成作家 is generally used for writers on variety shows and radio shows. They're responsible for planning and writing the overall outline, giving guidelines etc.

The role is distinct from the scriptwriter (脚本) credit, who is responsible writing exactly what is said in an anime, drama or film. For radio shows there is no strict script to be followed, only a loose one.

After discussing a bit with nextday, we decided to translate the 構成作家 credit as "Script Planner" since a literal translation doesn't really work.

In my opinion, even "Script Planner" is ambiguous because at first glance one would think there's still a script involved. Secondly, it seems like it would conflict with the role of "Director" - especially in this case, given that it's a recorded radio segment.


Regardless, I don't have a suggestion for a better alternative.

There is a script, but it's not the same as a script for TV show or film. The role of this person is to decide what will be talked about, who talks about it, and the overall flow of the program. They will often have discussions with the director to develop ideas.

The director is the on-site supervisor in the recording studio. They're responsible for managing the team, researching information, conducting interviews, and making sure everything is done in a timely manner.
