I have been checking a prototype version of Zero Mission that contained a sound debug mode with all the music, and the tracks appeared in this order (names are mostly unofficial as no soundtrack release exists for this game):

Spoiler:

– Brinstar
– Title Screen
– Save Room
– Opening
– Chozo Map
– Norfair
– Kraid’s Lair (aka Brinstar Depths)
– Evacuate Immediately! (aka Escape)
– File Select
– Gate to Tourian
– Boss Defeated
– Map Room
– Chozo Ruins
– Crateria 2
– Crateria 2 (alternate version)
– Ridley in Space
– Ridley Lands on Zebes
– Reflecting on Memories Past
– The Final Gift
– Attacked by Space Pirates
(21, 22 seem to be sound effect voice samples)
– Returning Home
– The Elevator to Hell
– Assault on the Space Pirates
– Mission Accomplished
– Ending
– Tourian Gate Opened

(29 to 49 are empty)

– Ridley’s Lair
(51 is empty)
– VS. Kraid
– VS. Ridley
– Appearance Jingle
– Get Item Jingle
(56 and 57 are empty)
– Save Complete (sound effect)
– Tourian
– VS. Deorem, Mua
– VS. Mother Brain
– VS. Kiru Giru
– VS. Kiru Giru Larvae
– VS. Imago
– VS. Mecha Ridley
– Unknown Item Jingle
– VS. Chozo Guardian
– Metroids’ Feast
– Alarm Tripped
– Space Pirate Mother Ship
(71 is empty)
– Mother Brain Sees You
– Chased by Space Pirates
– Fully Powered Suit
– VS. Kraid (without intro)
– VS. Ridley (without intro)
– VS. Mecha Ridley (without intro)
– VS. Chozo Guardian (without intro)
– VS. Kiru Giru (without intro)
– Crateria
(81 and 82 are empty)
– Game Over
– Mecha Ridley Arrives

(85 onwards are either empty files or sound effects)

At a glance, it looks like the tracks are mostly grouped together in two specific groups, specifically 01-28 and 50-84. While this may very well mean nothing, and we have nothing outright confirmed as a base, I have a theory that 01-28 were done by Kenji Yamamoto, while 50-84 were by Minako Hamano; based on their known works from various other Metroid and Nintendo titles, they line well with their instrumentation, styles, etc. It kinda looks like they probably had their own tracks grouped together when they were implementing the music on the game.

(By the way, this has nothing to do with the unlockable sound test in the final game, as it is incomplete and has a completely different track order)
