I thought they would just do it for FFIV-VI. Is this their plan to essentially take back what we can only assume are the publishing rights of NTT? To "remaster" it and then publish under their own label?

Collector's dilemma continues. :P

No dilemma, gotta catch 'em all. Think of it as like having Charmander, Charmeleon AND Charizard. Do you need all 3? No, but you gotta catch 'em all.

I think they remaster their stuff not to have to pay any "phonorights" to ntt pub (ntt owns the recording rights, not the publishing rights)
since ffv remaster rights is owned by square enix, it's a nice trick =)

I guess you mistake the (P) on covers for publisher, it's a phonogram

also, since I think they could make a Front Mission Series CD-BOX, I don't think FM and gun hazard will be remastered

This is all extremely enlightening to me. I read that whole phonogram wiki article, and I get it now.

That makes me wonder though, when SE did make those box sets for Mana and SaGa ... did they have to pay NTT for those phonorights? They used the exact recorded versions that were on the old NTT OSVs...

Personally, ROMANCING SAGA -Minstrel Song- did the trick for me when it came to remaster this jewel
