Default Quest for Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness ~ Soundtrack CD

Fixed the current entry.

Quest Studios albums are pretty tricky to enter since many versions of the same album is available (for example, see the notes of this entry)
I guess it's still acceptable with little informations on the notes.

I also have a problem, I can't submit the 2nd CD for some reason...
Won't let me do it, even when I input the tracks in the appropriate edit section.

It's an issue with the current system. Try submitting a new tracklist instead of editing the current one.

Quest Studios CDs are not proper soundtracks, anyway. Tom Lewandowski recorded MIDI/OGG from the games, put the files online, and let people create their own CD (he even designed covers for those artistically challenged like myself). But the CDs were never actually released by him, all of them are home-made by particular users. I think game with redbook-audio tracks create more of a soundtrack than QS CDs.

(This is not to be confused with a claim that Tom Lewandowski's work is poor. It is not. He created awesome source of Sierra music. But the CDs based on his work can't be considered "proper" soundtracks.)

I always wondered about the Quest Studios soundtracks, and whether they were ever officially sanctioned. It looks like these qualify more as a game rip then, and shouldn't be cataloged.

Indeed. Only the "Sierra Soundtrack Collection" is a "real" soundtrack. Official, too.

How about Quest for Glory 2 VGA and King's Quest II VGA soundtracks?

The games are authorized fan-made, and its soundtracks were original arranged (and some originally composed) specific for those games. These albums have covers and tracklist names made by the game own staff, I believe. They are also available at Questudios).

They are game soundtracks, free and digital. Doesn't this qualify them as Doujin/Indie? Shouldn't these two be added to VGM database?

Basically my question was:

Since we can add OST from fan games as catalogue them as "Doujin/Indie", can we do the same for OST from fan games that were based, inspired or remade from official games (with authorization from the original authors, naturally)?

If so... we can add on this database the Official Soundtrack from the fan game QG2VGA.

These digital album is the official release by the team who made the fan game: http://www.agdinteractive.com/games/...sic/music.html (although the mp3 files are stored at the Quest Studios.

Looks like it fits our criteria. It's packaged as an album, contains original work, and the rips were granted permission.

Thank you. I'll add these two soundtracks then.

Edit: I won't include Tierra's "King's Quest II VGA" after all, since it was never possible to download the entire album (102 tracks): http://www.queststudios.com/quest/kq...2songlist.html
